Chinese economy is 5 times larger than Indias. India may have to live with whatever Bhutan and China settle on. This will be another aksai chin.

India is good at looking after itself, not Bhutan. Bhutan knows this already hence it wants to settle the border situation itself. China is able to give Bhutan a good deal. If India wants Bhutan to reject settling, it should give Bhutan a better deal than it is getting from China. India keeps pressuring Bhutan not to settle but using fear tactics. Bhutanese are not stupid. They will accept the best offers.

Nitin, you personally must be very careful not to put India in a position of defeat with the way you express things. Bhutan is a small country needing the assistance of one of its great neighbours. If Bhutan acts to imperial India's defence, Bhutan's sovereignty will cease to exist. China is showing itself to be a small thinking nation in regard its southern neighbours if it wants prosperous relations in the short term. China is negotiating to chop the head off the Indian chook. India needs to make it very clear to Bhutan that such an agreement with China will be the the end of Bhutan.

This is what happens. A small nation fails to consider larger rivals, one (China) moves in to seize part of the smaller country, the other rival response to preserve it military position, the other rival responds, and before you know it the forces of the two larger rivals face each other all along a line and the smaller country no longer exists.

When all your neighbors are moving away from you and moving closer to someone you see as your enemy. Then you should know that you must have done many very wrong things to your neighbors. Or you must have been bullying and exploiting your neighbors for too long now that they couldn't accept you anymore. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and now Bhutan. They are all getting closer and becoming more comfortable to be closer with China.
