I don't really see how this is a negative thing for Hong Kong to cooperate more with mainland China, no one force you to work or live in mainland China, I think people are just overreacting and biased to mainland China.

The British Crown operating as a branch of Rome's modern empire controls much of the East through its former empire and East India Company. Jesuits established themselves in Asia around the 16th century. The British Crown and France made war on China forcing them to open their ports and allow their merchants to do business internally. Hong Kong was a British Colony until 1997 and the banks and merchant companies are still dominated by British bankers today. HSBC is a British-Hong Kong based bank with assets estimated at over 2.3 trillion. HSBC was founded by Thomas Sutherland of Scottish Peerage who was also a British Crown knight. Countess Elizabeth Sutherland is the current head of this family along with her son Alastair Sutherland. Peter Sutherland was a relative of Thomas Sutherland and former Director of the Royal Bank of Scotland. Peter Sutherland founded the World Trade Organization and Hong Kong is a member of the WTO. Peter Sutherland was Jesuit educated, a Vatican Knight of St Gregory, British Knight of the Order of St Michael and St George, French Knight of the Legion of Honour, Bilderberg member, and was a member of the Hong Kong Chief Executive's Council of International Advisers. Lui Che-woo of Hong Kong is worth about 11 billion and is a Member of the British Empire. Ka-shing Li from Hong Kong is worth about 37 billion and is a Knight of the British Empire. Yang Huiyan is a Chinese billionaire worth about 28 billion and went to Ohio State University. Hong Kong has economic leverage over the rest of China. Under the British Colony they set up Queens College in Hong Kong which is where Norman Chan was educated. Norman Chan is Executive Director of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and former Regional Vice-Chairman of the London based Standard Chartered Bank. Joseph Yam was the first Executive Director of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and a Knight of the British Empire as well as on the board of directors for UBS. Chris Patten was the last Governor of Hong Kong under Queen Elizabeth II a position that existed until 1997. The position was replaced by the position of Chief Executive of Hong Kong with Tung Chee-hwa as the first head who was educated the University of Liverpool in England. Tung Chee-hwa is worth nearly a billion. Robin Li is a Chinese billionaire worth about 18 billion and he went to the University of Buffalo in New York. Jack Ma who is worth over 40 billion and owns Alibaba which was initially financed by Goldman Sachs with a 3-5 million start up investment before later receiving 20 million from Softbank. The Kwok brothers of Hong Kong are worth tens of billions and were born in Portuguese controlled Macau which was partly established by Jesuits. Raymond Kwok went to Harvard and Cambridge. Pansy Ho is worth about 5 billion and was Jesuit educated at Santa Clara University and also from Jesuit-Portuguese Macau. The Triads are an international crime syndicate mostly based out of Hong Kong and Macau. India was also part of the British Empire not long ago and has been "westernized" and Romanized. Jagatjit Singh was a Emperor in British India and a Vatican Knight of St. Sylvester and Knight of the British Empire. Jagatjit ruled until his death and then India was reformatted. India is a corporate government transformed out of the East India Company the same way that the United States is basically the continuation of the Virginia Company. The Sassoon family are extremely wealthy bankers known as the "Rothschilds of the East" and set up banks in India and China under the British Crown and their East India Company. Michael Kadoorie is a Jewish billionaire in Hong Kong and Knight of the Legion of Honour. The Kadoorie family worked for the Sassoon family and helped manage their businesses in Mumbai and Hong Kong. The Sassoon family have intermarried with the Rothschild family several times. Albert Sassoon was a British Knight of the Order of the Bath and Knight of the Order of the Star of India. Albert Sassoon set up banks and merchant companies in India and Hong Kong like the David Sassoon & Company which built the Sassoon Docks for trading in Bombay. Baron James Sassoon is the current head of this family. Rahul Bajaj is an Indian billionaire worth over 4 billion and went to Harvard which was established by the British Crown. Sunil Vaswani is an Indian born billionaire that was educated in London and lives in Dubai. Baron William Mackinnon established the British-India Steam Navigation Company which did business in India and Asia and eventually absorbed into DP World now owned by wealthy businessmen in Dubai like the Sulayem family who also own Dubai World. Dubai and the United Arab Emirates were also established by the British Crown after they set up oil and industrial businesses like the Anglo-Persian Oil Company before propping up Arab nobility to rule which still continue to serve the British Crown's interests through business contracts. Under British rule the Vatican Romanized much of India. There are many Jesuit universities all through out India today. Kalanithi Maran is worth about 5 billion and went to the Jesuit's Loyla College in Chennai, India and was also Jesuit educated at the University of Scranton. Anil Agarwal is an Indian billionaire and his Vedanta Resources is headquartered in London. The British Crown attempted to take over China through by using opium to weaken the people and this caused the Chinese government to ban opium so the British Crown seized Hong Kong. Yusuff Ali M.A. is an Indian billionaire that does business in the UAE. Through the Convention of Peking the British Crown and Russia claimed lands and embassies in China. Joseph Lau of Hong Kong is worth about 15 billion and went to the University of Windsor in Ontario which is a continuation of the Jesuit's Assumption University. The British Crown and London businessmen still have major influences over banks and companies operating in India and China. clansutherland.org/?page_id=44 The Countess of Sutherland Alistair Charles Stclair Sutherland, Lord Strathnaver en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Sassoon,_Baron_Sassoon James Sassoon, Baron Sassoon www.hshgroup.com/en/about/leadership/people-profiles/the-hon-sir-michael-kadoorie Sir Michael Kadoorie

Huyou Strategically Actually some part of Hong Kong is owned by Britain. The CCP force Britain to give back. In fact, the land of Hong Kong is not own by ChinaPR. Hong Kong have a longer history than ChinaPR. The election is controlled by the CCP as well as there are no democracy under Bristish time. But the culture of mainlanders and Hong Kongers is different. You wont saying that Xinjiang and Tibet are not colonized by CCP

IamHKer what CCP force britain give back, besides sovereign? Please make it precise. PRC or ROC just the full name of china, like USA and CSA in american civil wars. Hongkong is still highly self-ruling, with GDP per cap 43000 dollars/year. Xinjiang and tibet belong to china more than 300 years. if they dont belong to china... the whites in america, austrilia, new zeland should all go back to europe. Dont apply double-standards to China. If you think Hongkong belongs to Britain because china is autocracy, your country should join in India, which is the biggest democratic country~

From what some people have commented, I think this video needs to explain more - that Hong Kong is already *very well* linked to Mainland China by land without this bridge! It seems many viewers think Hong Kong is an island, but it isn't! (despite there is Hong Kong Island, the majority of Hong Kong is directly bordering China) This bridge only serves as an extra link, to help Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macau's economies (these are 3 cities) better connected. In a Hong Kong - China context, it is much much less relevant, as there are already like 6 border crossing points to Shenzhen (it's another city in China). The fact is many in Hong Kong have been hoping to build this bridge, for decades. It's proposed by a Hong Kong businessman decades ago and is a dream come true for them. It opens up new trading fronts with cities in western Guangdong province and Macau, and reduces Hong Kong's total resources dependency on Shenzhen - it's only neighbouring city, and increasing a competitor in many fronts (airports, investments, stock exchanges, ports, etc. They are now competing for the leading role in the so called "Greater Bay Area" and this bridges helps Hong Kong a lot. The people that REALLY don't like this bridge are those in Shenzhen. They are being left behind by this world class project that's just outside of their door.

I find it great that they call that area the Bay Area just like the SF Bay Area in the US. This bridge will make it easier to travel and link everyone. Great idea and hope it is a success!

Other great Chinese cities of the south will take its place and surpass it many fold, like Shenzhen and Guangzhou are already doing now.

It's painful to see Hong Kong losing its unique identity and freedom. It seems like we've always either been manipulated by the PRC or the British gov. It's gotten to the point where one could suggest there is an identity crisis. No sense of self and belonging but just pain. In addition, there are some many underlying layers of conflict to be resolved.

Hong Kong was never independent. It started as a Chinese territory, turned into a British colony, and returned back to China. This whole argument about its independence and democracy only gained ground because China gave it a 50-year preparation for its eventual integration with the mainland. If Hong Kong immediately became part of China after British lease ended, the loss would be companies leaving, but this verbal war would never happen.

Democracy is like the genie in the bottle ...once you let it out its almost impossible to put it back in. Beijing realizes this and hence their actions to thwart democracy in HK and to keep it completely bottled in China

If the British empire handed back weihaiwei in 1909 then they could have kept HK. But would it have been better? After the tiananmen square protest where chinese students demanded the same as other protestors in the eastern block did. Freedom and reforms. Then... But again the Nanjing treaty of 1842 ceded HK to the british and in 1860 china had to cede Kowloon as well. China under the Qing dynasty never recognized unequal deals. Yet the second convention of Peking set the terms of 99 years of lease starting 1st july 1898.

Big development means big investment, the influx of needlessly powered transport systems by petrol and oil is a fading economy and our breathing capacity deserves clean air. Invest in clean possibilities, electric driven transport, hydrogen fuel cell driven transport, make the future clean for our urban dwellers before it can get any worse. Good luck is not over yet.

Solution simple look at U.S consensus of how the separate the world and follow it as that how the USA view It. It could be fought in law. The bottom is South Asia above is Russia left is Europe. All South Asia are called “Asian”. this is condenses servey. The country are China, India , Taiwan , Thailand ,Malaysia , Indonesia ,Philippines these are described as Asian. Now go and look of trade on south Asian country’s.you find China is the top trader and all of these county are hundred of billion trade with China. So you are all related . China goes up you go too, China goes down, you will go down too. So wake up. Media playing division for a reason.

By the way, the person who in charge the mainland Co. which responsible for building the project is arrested in the name of occupation in mainland.
