"Trade wars are for losers." It's something we've heard from Republicans and Democrats, alike. But as US-China trade tensions spiral from bad to worse, what is really at stake for both countries? Ian Bremmer sits down with three China experts to find out. And on Puppet Regime, President Trump channels his inner 1980s New York City energy to tackle tariffs.

There is more to U.S. strategy than just wars. There is disruption, threats, sabotage, color revolutions, embargoes, propaganda, currency manipulation etc. Of course these are actually war by other means. You could say that the United States is currently fighting WWIII by mostly other means than military.

Yep. This time US pick up an enemy which has 4 times population, more huge in economic, and more efficient in business because different regime, how can US win a war like this? Huge countries are not the same as the small tiny one which US bullied before. Nothing is easy, I am living in Beijing and try to switch my Audi to Benz, I am a normal in China even not a middle class. China is slowing down a lots in recent years, but mainly because China is switching to more greener economic growth. Nothing else.
@dingfeldersmurfalot4560
@dingfeldersmurfalot4560 4 жыл бұрын
@@louiswu6300 Saying China is more efficient in business is overlooking a lot of things. Chinese business is extraordinarily corrupt and there is probably no way to change that, since large chunks of the economy are literally owned by parts of the government, like the army. China is difficult to invest in or make sense of internally or externally because it does not adhere to normal FASB accounting standards. China's system is more like Russia's than the west, in that billionaires can be stripped of their fortunes or disappeared easily if they do not cut the right people in on the money or if they otherwise anger a government official. And remember, America is still the biggest market in the world, while China, for all its population size, doesn't make good use of it by developing strong internal markets. China needs to sell its products abroad to survive; America merely needs to do so to prosper. One of those economies can fall apart much more quickly than the other.

It is quite impossible to deal with China without impacting the American system. To fully compete with China, the US has to improve its education system for the American population, which is in conflict with the American oligarchy, who are more vested in keeping the American population from becoming more capable. A capable and educated American population means a more egalitarian and more democratic system, that is a bigger threat than China to the American oligarchy. So I say, the US will not win the struggle with China, not unless the capitalistic system has to go.

If we followed the rules of decency, it would be a whole lot simpler. The world needs a US that minds its own business a whole lot more. The spending on the military is obscene and it is a monster that dictates foreign policy rather than the other way around. Out of control sense of entitlement and military might is a bad mixture and is going to create pushback that is bad for everyone in a world that is fragmented

In the names of growth and wealth, the Western and African leaders could accommodate anything CCP had done to them and the Chinese people. Similarly, the West had tolerated Nazi German and Japan before Dutch/Belgean, French, and British colonies were invaded. Can I conclude that as long as the agressor does not touch one's cake, no major powers would simply act out of humanity!!

Late last year, Acting President tRump built a time machine in his spare time, between his first big Mac and his second serving of fries! Then he traveled back in time to 1826 BC where he split an Atom with his dentures, before going on to invented everything from the lowly Nail to the internal combustion engine, the internet, 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, 6G, 8G and 9G! The only reason he didn't invent 7G was because he lost count of his G's! Acting President tRump, achieved all of this before midday when he returning home for a lunch of 6 Big Mac Burgers and Fries (which he invented on his 2nd trip back in time) So whenever Acting President tRump claims that others are stealing America's technology, he is 100% Correct! Because Acting President tRump with his magnificent time machine, invented everything that has ever been or is likely to be invented ever! Shit he even discovered the America's before humans ever lived there! Now if you ask Acting President tRump very nicely, he will tell you all about the time he negotiated with dinosaurs for the ownership of Nth America and Canada! Acting President tRump also built airports, to make it easier for those Teridactalls to land! And Acting President tRump would never tell a lie! WOULD HE????????

US economic strategy is tariffs, taxes, limiting trade, bombing countries, bullying .. Not to help business to grow and prosper with less regulation, tax breaks and bending to unions and minimum wage, etc. China's economic strategy is create incentives to grow it's companies, allow businesses to thrive, help other countries in Africa, India, and South Amercia with low debt loans to build infrastucture and do trade deals.

A hungry people will not able to focus on values that cannot bring food to the table. The US was not a value-based system until the 20th century when it was a well developed country, before that the US was a slavery-system.

18:38 The CCP, after Mao's death, determined it was not good to let so much power reside in just 1 person, so they enacted term limits. Just 4 presidents (dictators... the Chinese constitution states its lead by a dictatorship) later, Xi removed term limits. Mao was nearly revered as a god. Xi is trying to replicate this... it would seem.
