These would be great for emergency situations, especially hurricane victims. You could have a bunch already loaded on a ship and just deploy the ship to the location, offload and set up. In a couple of days you have an emergency camp set up that's way more sanitary than tents.. Once the people can get back in their homes, you clean these up, fold and load them up, ready for another emergency. These are quite genius, "made in China" or not. Someone needs to help fund these for the red cross.

Later, seeing the photos of our disaster sold in entertaining coffee table books made me feel better. Now seeing the appeal court case lawyers arguing our case with the perpetrators who have been already found guilty. Ten long years in the courts with lawyers paying themselves $5000 an hour. So far we're just hoping to live long enough to see an outcome. Ten years ago they destroyed every single thing, every memory, every photograph everything. And still they argue. The roof top area for 40ft container with this design is enough for 10-30kw solar panels, which is more than enough for a one bedroom living.

I don't know how you can say it's well thought out and well planned. Whar we saw was cool, but what we didn't see is also important. I assume it doesn't have running water, and that at best only the central module has electricity? Are the walls insulated, and how well? Are there fire hazards? Will it generate toxic fumes? Is there a danger that water might leak in during rain? What do they cost? There are a lot of questions this presentation didn't address. Maybe they are that fantastic, but I don't know. If we're just talking about housing the homeless here, I assume barracks might be better and cheaper.

When I think of instant hospital, I think of this. I see this as a manner of response to government response to a variety of needs. Even though it has been around a long time, I think the overall speed of set up and quality is improved compared to years ago. Watching setup is quite entertaining. It seems like sustainable housing. The problem is to get a lot with the appropriate licensing to permit set up of these. Would I expect one in a trailer park style zone, and were there one for these, would it be a uniform community setup? Cool idea.

This is certainly not sustainable housing by any measure. It's obviously not very well insulated, meaning heating and cooling will be quite extreme. It wont have a lot of efficiency improvements of ordinary homes, and will likely not have even close to the lifetime of an ordinary house. Sustainable doesn't mean cheap... Sustainable actually means very expensive, built to last, etc.

If the sides that became the roof had built in solar panels that would be nice. Also, presumably One has to have utilities on site, electric, gas, water, sewage. How does One connect these up? What are the insulating materials and heat loss coefficients? Does it need a concrete base? It's all very well putting it up in a car park and filling it with furniture but no utilities are connected.

Not really for one of the most expensive real estate markets in the country. For a.more practical real world example see the Detroit tiny homes project run by Rev. Just giving stuff to people with possible mental illness or substance abuse problems just perpetuates the welfare state. That's a more complex problem.

How can a cash-strapped state like CA afford homeless shelters in the midst of a pandemic and after half the state was hit with wildfires? You don't solve complex social issues by throwing money at it. An example of state & Federal bureaucracy was the $150,000 outhouses for parks. Will mentally ill, addicted or just plain lazy people take care of something given for free by the nanny state? Granted, many working poor or formerly middle class families are facing eviction now. It's sad but adjustments will have to be made. One example of a program that seems to be working is the Detroit tiny homes project by Cass Community social services run by Rev. Faith Fowler. Homeless people can earn their way to home ownership at $1/sq ft by staying 7 years and demonstrating responsibility. Something like the Habitat for Humanity model.

Most major city homeless epidemics are caused by Chinese land lords who purchase apartment buildings. Then jack the rent to a point, where only the wealthy can live there. Affordable housing in a major city is a thing of the past. I was made homeless by a scumbag slumlord. I thank God that I was delivered from that situation. Me owning a very large dog, made renting an apartment impossible. Moved to an off grid property. Homeless problem solved!
@kcmoguy8884 жыл бұрын
You don't solve a massive problem by having a government agency just throwing money at a social issue. One positive example is the Veterans Community Project (VCP) just 4 miles from me in Kansas City. A non-profit set up a tiny house community for homeless veterans. Similar projects are in Detroit and elsewhere.
@freedomwoodgasandoffgridin89254 жыл бұрын
@@kcmoguy888 I agree, now days the majority of homeless people, are drug addicts, and alcoholics. Just look at Seattle, or San Francisco. Where the city supplies the drug addicts with needles. People in desperate situations, often turn to drugs of one kind or the other. Instead of moving to a different place where the cost of living is more affordable. I met a homeless man that was making 30k a yr. living in his car at Wal-Mart. Said he couldn't afford an apt. Told him to get it together. Take your skills else where. Find a small house, or apt. You don't have to live in your car. Sadly he did not understand. Just shook his head, said he'd need to think about it.

If they made this in the uk. They would be the price of a real house
@fishersteven89003 жыл бұрын
Give it time and they will cost the price of a house. It's just in the infant stage.

Hey, at least you know the one built in Uk is going to last longer than a single season before collapsing on you. Not to mention inspection and building requirements.
@Abaddon3x73 жыл бұрын
You got that right. They don't make anything in the UK though, I'm sure a UK 'middle man' will come along to import them from China at tripple the cost. There will not be a price on the website, you will have to enquire on the cost. They love that in the UK, great for the snob factor.

Yup and London prices at that.

I saw similar at an agricultural show, it was a big 'artic' lorry that opened out as an exhibition unit but better than displayed here it was 2 storeys! before opening out the lower floor as shown here the upper floor was contained within the main body and raised on hydraulic jacks before being locked into the raised position. then the lower floor was opened out as in this video but after the upper floor was also opened! It was an amazing structure used as a portable product display facility and customer entertainment structure.

Fantasztikus, nagyon ötletes és tetszetős. De vajon mennyire ellenálló az időjárás szeszélyeivel szemben? Mennyibe kerül az elkészítése?
