Just bc we have 750 military bases all over the world, we are always scared China will do the same. 🙄 Sure, some of those ports have potential for military use, subject to the host country’s approval. So what if China add a few more military bases to the one now, IMHO, they are NOT aiming for 750 to match ours bc it is a moronic waste of money. Whatever that is not good for business, it won’t be front and center to them. The one exception, as everyone knows, is Taiwan. If and when Taiwan goes independent, there will be a war, a continuation of the internal civil war from 1949. Short of that, China is really in no hurry to unite Taiwan, bc it will be bad for business. US foreign policy had always been focused on US security interest without taking into account the development needs of the developing world it engaged with. This is an-old school US and its allies combined strategy workable during cold war against USSR, yet it does NOT evolve to catch up with the new world, whilst China has been doing this since tracible back to 70’. US and its western allies today are also too far behind in traditional technology to build dam, reservoir, highway, railways, bridges, tunnels, ports, ultrahigh power transmission network, natural gas, or hydro or nuclear power plants, other than green technology to cover wind turbine, solar panel, battery and EVs.

Chancay in Peru is the one that nobody understands the importance of. Chancay means that Brazil, Columbia, Ecuador and Chile do not have to use the Panama Canal or the Magellan strait to export raw materials to China and import whatever goods China has to offer. I bet it will be bigger than the port of Los Angeles in a few years.

If your government changes every term just like the US, How far can the government plan such a long term strategy? This is a great disadvantage in liberal democracy. So when one hear how great it is to have western democracy, think again. Chinese government can plan 10, 20 and even 30 yrs and execute their plan accordingly bcoz the government doesn't change like the west. Same goes to singapore government who has been in power for 59 yrs. Think again about democracy.

You mean nobody in the Western media and leadership noticed. Xi and the Communist Party talk about the Belt and Road all the time, if you spend any time listening to what they say, it's impossible to not notice. To highlight just how much the US has missed the boat on this one, the Belt and Road plan originally didn't include South America, because the Chinese policymakers thought it was the US's sphere of influence, and they wouldn't make any headway there. But the South American countries came to China and said "we need infrastructure too", so China added South America to the project. If the US had spent the time and money to build infrastructure in South America, they wouldn't have turned to China, but the US only has money for weapons and war, it seems.

The USA will bankrupt itself over Militarisation while China will continue to grow and prosper with BRICS+ members with more Trade and Businesses. Another 10 years and all those 800 military bases worldwide will just become empty and isolated slums graveyard due to the huge expense required to maintain them which does no good to anyone and not even their own Nation. China learnt lessons from the collapse of the USSR and the wasted time and military expenditure during the Cold War. And it too will happen to the USA, NATO and their allies. The Greatness and Wisdom of a Leader to provide Leadership and good Governance of a Nation to continue their Prosperity and Civilization is never thru Warcraft as that is just only 1 expertise needed in a battlefield in War but not during Peacetime.

Ok, so we have a map of civilian ports of China around the world. We can easily find a similar map of US military bases around. To top it off, analysts from the US don't understand why China is making ports that can't be used for war. Really shows how each wants to interact with this world
@trekpac22 ай бұрын
China having a lot stronger economic trade and connections, and control of many ports ultimately will trump the US just having bases around the world. On top of that, China will have systems of ballistic missiles, ultra quiet submarines and a navy that will guarantee to it that it will win in any conflict in South China Sea, Strait of Malacca and so on. The US should be very careful to not think that it has secure control of many areas from now on, including Africa, South America, West Asia and even Central America. In addition, China has Russia and all of its formidable network of allies which will provide it with backup support.

Yes what people should be asking is what happened to China? As most people don’t go back to go back further than the last 200 years China is a harbinger for us here in the west…. looking to these American and far right Governments like the ones getting elected in Europe right now, As they close in on themselves close off their borders China has had the luxury of rising and falling few times in history The reason why there is that 7 volume 27 book series out there On what the Chinese invented first,, that most people have no clue about And we think they just copy and can’t innovate The last being in the 1500s China spent the better part of a millennia trading places with India for top economy in the world By the 1430s it was by far the top economy and technological leader in the world But their emperor at the time started the slow process of closing in on itself closing off its borders This lead to 400 years of decline and then an eventual semi colonization of China for 100 more years. Even up to the 1980s… 88% of the population was in abject poverty, knee deep in the mud of their family rice paddy plot, or making a dollar a day on a factory floor The big difference is back then they were not running up these huge external sovereign debts like we are seeing these days with our Western Countries Now they are back as they lead the “world” in 37 of 44 critical technologies of the future But it took then it took 550 years for them to come back Makes me wonder if our western countries could survive A 500 year of decline

@ 1:44 , notice China developed many ports on East and West Africa. China’s ultimate transportation plan in Africa is the construction of a new efficient E-W rail corridor which will bypass the need to ship cargo around the African cape - a fuel hungry and time consuming journey. The combination of these African ports and E- W rail corridor will bring unprecedented peace, prosperity, cooperation, and a higher standard of livings in the African countries that participate in the RBI.

It is only the amateurs who are unaware that leading countries like China and Russia have a global and long-term vision, with planning and implementation, step by step, of their strategy. So, everyone knows very well that BRI seeks to connect Asia with Africa and Europe via land and maritime networks, which today includes 150 countrie. It goes without saying that the current and future BRICS countries will be the operators and beneficiaries of this network.
@scentsoftravelmeditation2 ай бұрын
Actually no body in the West noticed BRICKS, almost until its inception The US and Britain have a philosophy whereby they always need to have a conflict, at any given time. So after the USSR fell, the picked on the Taliban. Their plan was to make their puppets in Afghanistan continue the dirty works whilst they prepared to exit Afghanistan to prepare for a new conflict in China But the Chinese outsmarted and strategically out played everybody in the west. They were extending soft power, calmly stretching Road & Belt Initiative and laying the BRICKS foundations whilst the West under the silly US/UK leadership was so busy playing teenager games, drunk on their own ego. One day they got sober for a moment and found 150 countries want to join BRICKS. They are still lost in shock 😹

One thing China draw from what they term " A hundred years of humiliation" is military capabilities is necessity to protect itself for viability of a nation! It can even look back to Yuan or Qing Dynasty where regardless of being a more sophisticated society were conquered by nomadic neighbors even in ancient history! But to have a strong military, need a strong industrial base in modern day since industrial revolution, where weaker one just have to succumb to stronger one regardless of international law, regardless of USA propaganda of " rule base international order " if you research in depth, you'll find how many treaties it has broken with it overwhelming ecomnoic and military power. There's another dimension in current world order is international financial system, according to Yanis Varoufakis US defy history where because of monopoly of dollars in trade that allow itself to live on larger and larger national debts and trade deficit! According to him it's not Taiwan issue, it's not China assert itself in Asia ( thousands of km to USA )! It's because China is challenging the financial dominant of US! To give you a metaphor, it's like trying to take away a teenager living off of credit cards who is not earning money through productive mean! That's why it is vehemently fighting China's efforts! Rest asure from santions to every visit from Yellen, Raimondo, blinken and Sillivan recent visit and santions are all trying to thraw that efforts! Not China's ambition to rule the world like European did past few hundred years !
