Desmond Tutu once said, " When the Missionaries came to Africa, they had the Bible and we had the land. They said, " let us pray" . We closed our eyes. when we opened them, we had the Bible and they had the land. Likewise, when social networking came, they had the WhatsApp and Facebook, and we had the freedom. When Christian missionaries came to the qing dynasty and were eventually rejected by government officials, the British said how dare the Chinese take away the freedoms of their people to explore their belief in God, and when the unequal treaties were signed more missionaries came to help to "broaden" people's minds on Christianity. In modern days it's been replaced with human rights

Barrett, if you have time to visit Yunnan province, you would be able to find out more of Chinese minorities. Yunnan is known for its ethnic diversity. Home to 26 different Chinese minorities, it is rich in culture and a good place to learn about non-Han China. Grown up in Yunnan province as a Han, I never remember any of minority schoolmates were treated differently or discriminated. I used to envy them could enjoy more marks added to university entrance exam because they were minorities (as the competition is fierce and the government wants to provide the minority students more chance to enter the universities). I still remember when I was very little, one of my classmates in kindergarten is Hui minority (i.e. Muslin), she had different meals specially made for her. Her culture was respected even she was the only Muslin kid in the whole class. This is how we respect each other.

Who knows?叶卡捷琳娜二世·阿列克谢耶芙娜万岁!

I especially like the diversity of Chinese ethnic cultures. I have been longing for life in Yunnan since I was a child, because there are many ethnic minorities, many cultures and customs different from those in the mainland, blue sky and white clouds on the plateau, colorful ethnic costumes, and wild flowers everywhere. Now I finally move my home to Dali, Yunnan, and feel the mountains and lakes there every day. My husband is a Russian. He especially likes the mountains in Yunnan and the sun on the plateau 🌞。

I must say something about this topic, I am a Han Chinese in Inner Mongolia. My best friend is ethnic Mongolian, my family works in a Mongolian high school (where the Mongolian language is taught), and my current roommate in Germany is from a pastoral area. I am deep in the ethnic culture, but I am still being told by people online that I am brainwashed, which is ridiculous ...... Most of them have not even been to Inner Mongolia. Mongolians are allowed to teach Mongolian from kindergarten to high school, as they should be, and Mongolians have their own festivals, no one interferes with their celebrations, and it is well known that there is also the annual steppe Naadam Festival

Thanks Barrett father and son for bringing up more interesting videos about the minorities and the country.. To be honest, as an oversea Han Chinese, I have no much ideas about the minorities traditions and cultures as we were growing up learning Han culture here in my country, good video 👍😄

To be a minority ethnic in China is pretty fortunate compare to Western countries like Canada and America. They get ethnic festivals official holidays on top of normal holidays. They get slightly lower entry into universities. Low income still get free housing etc. Basically where can find. Uniquely for China. Good job.

Thank you for the videos for showing the real China to the world! I come from Zhuang minority. it is true that I was able to go to a good university in Shanghai with a lower score benefiting from preferential policies for minorities; since then, I had opportunity to study abroad and see a wider world. China government never destroys minority cultures but protects.

Guangxi is 壮 minority autonomous region, which means the chairperson of local government has to be a 壮 minority. And local government has to maintain at least 50% of the employee are 壮 minority. In Guangxi 壮 autonomous regions, it is the 壮 government to decide what language they use in that regions. Regional autonomy for ethnic minorities is part of China's constitutional law from the beginning of PRC.

Every place in China has its own culture. China can only learn from each other and integrate with each other, and the good ones will be preserved. We say that zhonghua (China) is culture. China is a country of cultural unity.

China government doesn’t want people forget their tradition minority culture. So ,China government spending money on it and to encourage tryedvkeeping minority culture. Western medias twisted about it.anyway western medias twisted everything about China.

Where ever I have travelled in China I have seen only progress and never a sign of minorities being discriminated against negatively only positively as in your example by getting into better colleges and universities simply because they are minorities, this does not seem like the actions of a country trying to destroy it's minorities does it? Maybe the west and amerikkka should stop bad mouthing China and copy them by investing in the people "All of the people" not just the rich privileged minority, besides it's not as if minorities get treated well in any of these western countries or the usa now or in the past either is it. Keep these videos coming showing the truth of the real China not the anti China garbage the western media puts out. 👍👍👍

Destroying or oppressing a minority leads to a social contradiction between the government and the people. Contradictions like that weaken a society and can contribute to its decline. The aim of China's political philosophy and practice is based around keeping its contradictions as few and as small as possible, and even to eliminate them when the opportunity presents itself. Only if you understand this can you find reason behind China's domestic political moves.

92 percent of Chinese is Han, and the rest 55 minorities take the rest 8 percent, and a lot of them has married to Han. To be a minority, it means you get added a lot points when taking college entrance examination. But honestly, nearly all of the 55 minorities are living under developed areas or rural areas.
