Actually all these projects should have started much earlier like the 2000s then we could have been in a good situation today. Currently the Navy and army are doing well and are quite future ready, our missile programs are going well, only the air force has tons of issues. We cannot rely only on our nuclear deterrence with SLBMs and ICBMs. We need to match conventional weaponry too, with naval borders being too far with china, our biggest decider in the war will be our airforce. For now if they can buy a 5th gen fighter from other countries in 3-4 squadrons as a stop gap and also maintaining AMCA and Tejas mk2 underway and also joining FCAS or tempest program of Europe as our 6th gen fighter will be a good way to control the situation

Even if India has the full tech of making 6th gen fighters, it will still not make it until China inducts 7th gen fighters. Even after having the tech, we are lagging and development is not done, eg. : BVR missiles, AIP for submarines etc. Problem is in mentality of both DRDO and givernment babus i.e. always follow and never even choose to be ahead

Atleast we couldn't preserve our two aircraft carriers as museum, they were scrapped for the price of dust. It was an important part of our history. Massive budget is just for show-off they carry forward the money next year and add up to show that they've done as something different
