I'm a Chinese and I've lived in Australia since 2014. When I first left my home I was dumb I thought I wanted to live under a western culture with more "freedom". But now I think everyone just lives under society contracts. The way people distinguish free or not isn't really depending on the true freedom, it's on the political operations of these contracts. This coronavirus pandemic made me decide I'm going back to China in the future. Every country has pros and cons. But the arrogance I see from most western countries could be dangerous. The way and the contents western media talk about China actually block people's eyes. If western world sees China as an enemy, at least they and their people should know their enemy well. I see some inefficiency and inability in western world nowadays. They don't emphasise on STEM education as China does, even worse, they talk bad on what China is doing. I think those sanctions on China can't put China in danger, but it put US itself in danger. And as a Chinese, we never want to be top 1 and control other countries. An easier and safer and more stable life is what Chinese people want. And we can only achieve this by keep learning. This attribute is deep down in Chinese culture and history.

Awesome Barrett. I really appreciate your honesty about these China related issues. Prior to my first visit to China in 2015, I was told by my close American friends on how evil China was, and how arrogant the Chinese people were. My experience has been exactly the opposite. I resonate with your videos very well, and agree with you that all this bias against China from western media and governments is because of the geo-political shift of power towards China, both technological and political. Keep on going. And next time I am in China, I promise to reach out and buy you a coffee :-)

Just more comments on this. I am a Chinese who lives in the west in the pasts five years. I met so many westerners showing so less knowledge and some biased understanding about China. I would say the mass meida should take the main resposibility. For this, I am so worried about the west as the current good living condition in the west is due to the comparative advantages over other countries. The relative decline of the west is for sure difficult for them to maintain the current living standards. In a word, the decline of the west in the future comes from their ignorance of the most dynamic power on the earth today. It is really high time for the west to get more objective knowledge about China and learn from the advantanges China owns nowaday.

I was university lecturer before becoming disabled. I saw how hard working my Chinese students were and I started learning Chinese so I could be more welcoming to them Then my illness. Their modesty, drive, ability, kindness, make an amazing combination I still continue to try to learn Chinese but my memory snd concentration problems along with frequent illness make this an arduous task. What others manage to learn in a year takes me about ten years even though I persevere and use all my efforts to do this. It helps me “escape” from my bed and gives me something to strive towards I see you use Chinese subtitles and I’m very keen to read these along with the spoken English. I understand most of the vocabulary. Are you bilingual? Are you HSK 6 Level and beyond? I’m teaching myself HSK 5 right now but my brain is not working too well at the moment. I'm Chinese but wasn't born in China but the other "Free" China, had been fearing, hating Communist but always love China, because of all the propaganda's we all do . And I and my family, as well as most friends, have completely turned around over the last two decades seeing what modern China has done, reigniting the hope of rebuilding China and seeing it become a reality in my lifetime is wonderful, as it was but a pipe dream before. China is doing a lot of things right as with China in the past 200 years doing almost all wrongs, the people are the same, but the government has been pragmatic in developing, planning, organizing and even go as far as changing the cultures, coupled with the underlying, hardworking, sharing, family oriented nature of the people, and shall I say much wisdom from the history, a new nation is reborn! China couldn't have risen up with learning from other countries(that opportunities exist for all other less developed countries too, and let's not use the stolen smear), but China only did after she had fallen to ashes after losing all its pride and confidence. There are many qualities that other countries could learn and adopt from China, and a few wise people would see that, but human nature dictates that majority would be in denials, or worse, and never come to terms until its too late! It's a long process and takes centuries to evolve, but we are just witnessing the change of powers! The Western people are repeating the same mistake the Chinese did in the past as history repeats itself!

It has degenerated into an academic system and many researcher's ideas remain on paper, instead of being turned into actual products. Whereas in China, research funds are available at all tiers of society, from corporate to government sector, and a struggling research can easily get a $40,000 funding approval, thus freeing the researcher to concentrate on his/her research instead of having to worry about funding. The idea-to-product transition time in China is short too, so many researchers can feel a sense of satisfaction, witnessing their ideas being turned to actual products. Poverty, is not an enemy or something to look down upon. That’s what was taught by the Communist government. They believed that everyone should be a peasant to understand the labor and hard work that goes into it. Everyday trials and tribulations. The difference is the bourgeoisie who looked down on someone because they are poor, but don’t realize they would easily become poor without their riches they are born into and without a work ethic.

Hard work and discipline have been paving chinese out of the poverty line and gradually into new China and the second largest economy in the world. It wasn't easy to encounter the enviromental control together with the massive labour force at the production line. Though there is a price to pay for the enviroment , the chinese are trying putting up a solution. Not 100% but workable solution in time to come. As a manfacturing factory in the world , china and the chinese are going in perfect harmony after the coronovirus crises , to make the world a better world for years to come.

"Hard work and discipline have been paving chinese out of the poverty line and gradually into new China and the second largest economy in the world. " Or that their government abandoned failed ideas (social communism) and adopted ones that work (capitalism). So once the government stopped holding people down, they were able to rise up. "It wasn't easy to encounter the enviromental control" And they are still failing hard. "going in perfect harmony after the coronovirus crises" Always perfect harmony, no matter the cost (which is actually not a natural harmony, but a forced one, even faked) "to make the world a better world for years to come." Is that how you see the export of the social credit system?
@brennencox5164 жыл бұрын
@Naguery Amjadlip Oh man. The heavy-handed way it tries to deal with problems. It's the government getting directly involved with people's lives. If someone spits on the sidewalk, the people around them should voice that that behavior is unacceptable. Not the government restricting where that person can travel, or their ability to buy a house. It's great way to further limit freedom of speech (or attempts and trying to achieve some level of it). The Chinese government monitors and censors all online interactions. If you say something they don't like, heavy punishments can be put upon you. It can introduce more corruption into an already corrupt system. A person whose job it is to walk around a neighborhood, taking notes, and reporting those things to the government (which is the sole decider in what is deemed acceptable and unacceptable behavior) can be bribed (as many already are in China) to either report something, or to ignore something, enriching that person's life. So, what do you think is good about the Social Credit System the Chinese Communist Party is so proud of? (face recognition is now also a thing to be required for having internet access. so if the government doesn't like what you say online, they can prevent you from even having internet access)

For many of those problems you mentioned, we have been correcting them and they are happening less and less, I personally think many of them are inevitable and it helps us to grow up, if you could spend a little time to do the research you will know that how's the difference has been made since last century. And guess what? Every goverment lies, what we really care is that how is the goverment leading us to a better future and to have a better life, Truth is, we are enjoying the changing and we do not regret from living under this western so-called dictator country.

I remembered during my young days, our Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew told Singaporeans to learn more from Japan. How? Be a copy-cat first, improve on the product and it becomes yours thereafter. Countries that put a lot of emphasis on educating their young population will surely reap the rewards for their homeland at a later stage. Good management is just as important. POSBCORD. P => Planning O => Organising S => Staffing B => Budgeting CO => Co-ordinating and lastly RD => Research & Development. In a modern technological world, R & D forms a very important part for a company to stay competitive and to succeed. We should spend more time on improving our product and not waste time complaining about others 'stealing our technology'.

The "stealing" happened in the 1980s... Cos that first wave of companies that entered China... Their technologies were not meant to be copied or shared or spread across the country. They were supposed to be, kept private, or locked. But the government did not take their sides... and this is how MANY foreign companies actually collapsed during the 1980s to the 1990s.... Did you not know this ?? This is what happened. And then subsequent financial crashes etc... So many people were not aware of the decisions and the actions taken ? Why do you think that people like Li Ka Shing addressed issues subsequently ??? I think you need to check... to see what went on. Your cousin did dentistry, but the techniques, and what she used, is standardised... or in her case is standard in the UK. Unless something is now commercially private.. and some private companies, can indeed have their own R&Ds. Those items and those techniques were patented. NOW... only in recent years, are copyrights really taken seriously in China. The Law Courts are now established IN China... Yeh, right.. after those who were rich got rich... I hope that China, will indeed prosecute, and subsequentially prosecute those specific individuals who did the bad deeds. A lot of companies may not rise an issue, because they may have settled in other ways. But mark my words... It should indeed be addressed. (Imagine this, those techniques were created based on man hours and man powers, and labour costs... What do you think makes the US run ?? What makes you think that makes a country run ? It was work. Work either created and sold now. Or work were calculated based on market value. China has zero acceptance of value or on pricing, or even costings !!! F!ck)

These foreign universities like America’s Ivy leagues aren’t educating Chinese students out of the goodness of their heart, these students pay full tuition for the opportunity. They’re also exposed to conditions in westernized countries which they hope would persuade them to stay and proffer their skills in the service of China’s rivals. But for those who return to China after their studies abroad they get the honor of helping their countrymen improve their lives. I don’t think too badly of those Chinese who choose to stay and use their skills for American (foreign) companies, but I respect those Chinese who return home to help their countrymen more.

Wonderful to hear a normal westerner´s apreciation of an eastern country. I live part of the year in Spàin, andpart in Vietnam, but I was born in Kenya, so really an a "sitter on the fence". Everything I know, admire, try to learn, I have to thank others. I believe that all those who do not wish to be cavemen have to aquire knowledge and expertise from others, it is a fundamentl human right. Agriculture began in the middle and the far east, the idea of writting went from one country to another, printing was chinese, so was the compass, and a large etc. etc. etc. Monopolies on intelectual achievments do not improove human welfare, I am ure you will agree that to futher the well being of people, it would be great to see the west profit once more from what the east has to offer.
