Americans don't learn much about the War of 1812 because they lost against the Canadians. AKA tried to take over Canada and make it the 51st state only to fight for 2 years and have the same borders as before the battle begun, and we successfully defended ourselves and burned down the White House. In Canada we learn quite a lot about that war and a lot of our historical figures, battlefields and monuments are cherished from that war and have places to visit and learn about it to this day. So very important in Canada. But in the US why teach a war you lost, let's just glance over that war we loss against Canada(or the former British Empire's Canadian colony(since we weren't independent at the time, but considering most of the Brits were worried more about Napoleon, let the Canadians take on the US on their own pretty much)).

@@fish-kt4iq yes in the US it is taught as a draw, in Canada it is taught as a win. The US sees it as a draw since they neither gained nor lost territory. However the US was the aggressor going to war against Canada/Britain to make Canada the 51st state(there were less states at the time, and Canada would have been many states and territories, but ok incorporate Canadian lands into the US). Canada/Britain never had as an objective to take over the US, just to defend its territory against the invasion. Therefore since Canada lost no territory it successfully defended itself and therefore won the war. The US failed in its objective, heck even failed at gaining any territory whatsoever, therefore they lost that war. However as we always learn twist the way things are on your resume to put your best foot forward, so they teach that it was a draw since they lost no territory, that is if they teach that war at all to make themselves feel better, but by any objective metric it was a loss.

many people dont know that the British were actually the fourth country to discover Australia. 1. the Dutch were first to discover it but did literally nothing 2. the Spanish were second, they landed, put a plaque that said that this land was spanish land and just left 3. the Chinese also discovered Australia but then they deemed it to be worthless and left. 4. Finally there is the British. Captain Cook landed in 1770 and mapped Australia east coast. he sent a letter to the British parliament saying he had found this incredible new land and in 1788 the first fleet landed carrying British convicts to Australia 5. the French were the last people to come to Australia (thank god) however it is known that Napoleon Bonaparte did draw up battle strategies for an invasion of Australia, but later settled on sending a small army of botanists instead
