It is the temperature of the plasma inside the reactor. It is held magnetically and not physically and that is one of the trick that is hardest to master in fusion reactor.

The magnetic confinement is actually there to keep the plasma from touching the walls of the container where it would be instantly cooled below fusion temperatures. Temperature and specific heat are two very different things. Temperature is a measure o how fast individual molecules are moving. Specific heat is a measure of how much energy is contained in a unit volume. The hot plasma is a very thin and while the molecules are moving very fast there are very few of them - many, many orders of magnitude less than a solid. You could stick you hand in the air a hot oven for a short time without injury but will get instantly burned if you touch the metal. Likewise the Sun's corona. It is a near vacuum. If not for the Sun' radiant energy, you would freeze.

The issue with fusion is it requires a massive amount of initial energy input to get started. But then once it's been running long enough it will start producing more energy then it takes in. The reason the amount of time the reaction occurred for is stated is we don't know how long we need to provide external power to these reactors before they can power themselves and gives power we can use. Once we know how long the initial reaction needs and therefor the power required to get it running, then we can set reactors up to reach that amount of power, etc, and get them running. We don't know what the initial power requirement is to get to the point of more power out then in but it is promising that we are getting reactions that are lasting longer.
