The new model 054B was launched on 9/6/2023. 054B is bigger 6000 tons with DC electric propulsion system and new rotating action array radar. You should do a preview of her.

With the Type 054B frigate well under away and with the first ship likely to be launched within this decade. I wonder if it will replace the Type 054A? Or will supplement them with the former Type 054B likey to escort the PLAN carrier battle groups or amphibious ready group, while the Type 054A will deployed closer to Chinese waters eventually replacing the Type 056A corvette which then can be transferred to the Chinese Coast Guard which have received Type 054A as coast guart cutters. Regardless the speculation is it will have a higher top speed then the Type 054A 27 knots due to being fitted with an electric propulsion rumored to be an Integrated-electric propulsion (IEP) system? Like CODLOG or CODLAG like the USN upcoming Constellation-class FFG(X), it will likely include a gas turbine, unlike the previous Type 054A, which is an all diesel propulsion.

4艘已经快完工,如果测试合格。可以做到每年生产10-12艘,尽快完成62艘的基本需求。054A可以淘汰了,落后产品。

One question Most ships seems to be mainly focusing on Anti air, defense systems and anti submarines In the case of two modern warships meeting and engaging, with their little anti ship weaponry and heavy defenses how exactly will the battle go? I wonder because several simulation games such as Harpoon (which I've been told is a very nice naval combat simulation game) when two ships were to fight each other with both on alert all their anti ship missiles were shot down and the ships had only two options to fight eventually, either using deck guns or torpedoes Since submarines proved to be most effective against ships does that mean that ships are no longer focusing on anti surface threat and leaving that for submarines or are there plans to enhance ships' anti surface combat abilities?
@tomte47
@tomte47 Жыл бұрын
If you wan't to play with simulation games i would recommend "Command modern naval operations". As for your question, Ships do not fight 1 vs 1 in any meaningful fashion anymore and The U.S is not using Surface combatants as their primary offensive platform. That role fall on Submarines and Air launched anti ship missiles from Carrier and if possible land based fighters as well as land based bombers. Such an attack could involve hundreds of missiles in each wave, preferably arriving at the same time. The Chinese surface combatants have greater offensive anti ship capability in general but the biggest threat is still from Subs and land based bombers and fighters.

@@tomte47 thanks for the recommendations, and yes like I mentioned in my original comment submarines indeed seem to be playing the role of the offense, missiles however as I mentioned the modern ships has a lot of anti air weaponry, anti missiles and so on, so technically each attack wave will be encountered by a heavy defense wave as well unless the missile can either escape radar detection or move so quick that the weapons don't have time to react once they detect the missile, missile also are quite expensive nowadays, so launching a wave of more missiles than your enemies defense weapons will be costly, this leaves either radar detection, supersonic or hypersonic missiles, and submarines, but there's still a problem. China itself has a lot of submarines, the last time I checked the majority of their naval units were submarines, and considering the wargames with the swedish submarines and that I read about a retired military officer or commander in the navy claiming they couldn't even detect the Chinese submarines unless the crew made a mistake or if they deliberately exposed their position this means aircrafts won't really be of a help against submarines and neither do modern warships that much, I kinda have a feeling countries need to think of a better modern warships design. Some claim aircraft carriers will no longer be useful in the future now that countries are building aircrafts that can fly over continents and ballistic missiles that can hit moving gigantic ships Traditional Aircrafts themselves won't be useful against ships designed with heavy anti air, like you said they move in fleets, and most weapons on those ships are anti air weapons same with traditional anti ship missiles Ships themselves will be useless against submarines including aircraft carriers if they can't detect them And submarines.. those seem like they have conquered the naval battlefield completely... So yes I believe maybe countries should start making better plans to build useful naval vessels to catch up to this change as well.

@@T.M.O001ships are useless against aircraft however this is modern day naval ships not ww2 naval ships. Air defense system had improved drastically now. They are more accurate than ever. In modern day, most aircraft do not close in on ships like in ww2. The reason why Chinese have many aa system because it is their naval doctrine. It is all about area denial. The key point is to limit US access into area and intercept any potential strikes

It was licensed in 1980s when the West and China had a common enemy. The cooperation after 1990s were mainly for civilian use. EU still impose arms embargo on China. And PLA reduced the dependence on imports. For example, Z-15 is a very good platform. But it is impossible for PLA to adopt.
