On December 19, the Center for East Asia Policy Studies hosted a seminar examining American and Japanese interpretations of China. In two sessions, leading China specialists from the United States and Japan presented views of China’s economic policy and trajectory, and its political system, priorities, and resources for dealing with policy challenges.

Why are Americans so peeved by political system any country may like to adopt.This is highly explosive mindset .
@view1st
@view1st 2 жыл бұрын
Because they are a rentier economy that relies on collecting economic rent from other countries. In other words, by exploiting others. Countries that develop their own economies reduce the profitability of the rentier class in the USA and that cannot be tolerated. The USA doesn't want the China to break free from this lopsided relationship, much less serve as an example to others.

It's not that they are peeved, they realise that commie china and "modifications" they made aka "chinese characteristics" basically no matter the system of governance, if it doesn't work, CPC will make evolutionary changes in response to public feedback....something that is completely missing from western systems especially in the U$, where everything, is based on profits and exploitations. I can't help but laugh when American says "I am concerned about China..." or any country for that matter, because that usually means invasion, sanction, belligerent policies and the speech that ends with human rights concerns, these are western code words, so obvious to the rest of the world.

That is actually untrue. Do you really believe that, at least for the US government and policy influencers, really want China to be " just like us" as they love to preach and patronise China? Haven't you noticed that is actually exactly what China is moving forward to. China is now more liberal, more economically rich, more technologically advanced than it has ever been in its history. And that is exactly what and why the USA is doing everything to stop China nowadays.

@@stephenlock7236 you are right on. More and more people and nations all around the world are waking up to the fact that U$ is a dying empire, they accelerated their own demise with the orchestration of Ukr conflict / coup back in 2014. Fact is you don't have to like China or any nations to trade, that was how it was centuries ago. Trade is built on mutual benefits, that's all it is, it could grow to be more, but it doesn't need to. U$ is not about trade at all, it's mostly about being the hegemon, undermining and destroying others who don't comply. U$ is what Germany would have been had hit*** won WW2. I think 3rd R has basically moved HQ.

@@tigading2177 I would say you are very right in your assertion, it is clear as day. Germany holds a very important position and it is controlled from Germany, but by U.S.A. It keeps a strong foot om them and dictates policies that benefit U.S.A by controlling the geographical zones of trade routes and the conflict in Ukraine is just that, and i fear if Russia can sustain it's power we Europeans have a very dire future much like the middle east and the early 90's conflict in Latin america.

If the US is the waning empire as some might suggest, then why antagonize China? Wouldn't be more productive to forge a cooperative alliance? But, of course you compelled Russia and China together an alliance. This will be considered the biggest blunder in all of history.

There is this never ending hope and expectation that China should have political reforms, and here reforms mean the democratization of China, infering that without that China cannot escape the middle income trap. Should China fall into this democratization trap, it would be the biggest mistake China would have imposed upon itself ever, in its thousands year history. The cost of the same mistake that the USSR imposed upon itself would be miniscule compare to what can happen to China. China has been reforming itself non stop for the last 50 years, only not the type that the west salivate over. China will reform, of the type and pace as it sees necessary and see fit.

This comment is 5 years late, but I guess ALL these western reports are not because the west care about China, it is quite the reverse and it has now been declared by U$ that China must be destroyed at all cost. U$ realises it is running out of time and have decided to go full psycho on both China and Russia, having orchestrated a coup in Europe. IT is a total madness never seen before. I just want ALL Americans to know, they like the Germans during WW" are wholly complicit in U$ belligerent policies. They have done NOTHING but watch their so called govt rampantly destroyed other nations.

Today is 27/12/2022, I have now come to realise almost ALL western sponsored institutes, agencies, think tanks have ALL been infiltrated by U$ corporations and govt and very heavily funded and therefore almost all their predictions, accusations have been proven wrong, especially those from Gordon Chang, Zeihan, Zenz, Kevin Rudd. U$ has practically declared war on China and it is no secret their primary objective is to destroy China again, the title "the rise of China" is already bias which imply some nefarious force is on the rise. Watching from EU, having been destabilised by U$ Nuland from State Dept, we pray that may god have mercy on Americans.

Their goal is to set their enterprises free for a open global market this is how the west makes sure it is a force of power by being the owners of the markets (hence the discussion of hybridized trade policy which is problematic as you can not use it as a tool of weapon to dictate the market. Speaking of leadership of China Ji Jing-ping as they predict is moving his enterprises away from the liberal agenda to form their all (democracies)

The Ideology and the structural fabrics of china's Political system is fundamentally incompatible with Western Democratic values of the Western World and given China's total disinterested in engaging the West on a rules based system where the rules apply to all equally and respected by all is the basis of all norms which must be adhered to by all without exceptions and China chose not to abide by such rules of the road and respected them and accept to be punished if it violates such rules then it must be expelled without fear or favour for such violations, otherwise China should be ruled by the Taiwan regime instead as a better alternative Government to that of the current CCP Regime who has been bringing nothing but conflicts and strife to all its relationships with Western democracies,whereas Taiwan appear more suited especially for its natural affinities and other tendencies that are naturally suitable towards bringing harmony to all sides instead of the most antagonistic attitudes the CCP has been inflicting into all such relationships with the West. Do, why not allow Taiwan's ruling politicians to take over the governing of one China instead of the CCP? This way China will remain as whole and enhances its relations he is with the rest of the world with prosperity and peace for all?
