Kishore Mahbubani is a Singapore diplomat, and Singapore has a resolutely neutral stance internationally. He might be risking his prestige in Western media, but he is not risking any prestige among the rest of the world. Rather, this shows that he's fair and unbiased. During the last 20 years, I have visited China seven times, with intervals of a few years...The first time, in 2003, it was a huge and pleasant surprise for me to see a modern and progresive society, with friendly and happy people everywhere... (a little bit caotic street traffic in some big cities, bus and car drivers from hell, but otherwise, all very good). Since then, I heve been back many times... I have been in Shangai, Beijing, Harbin, Dalian (Tallien), Hong Kong, Guangzhou (former Cantoon), Shenyang and other cities... In every trip there, in every city, I saw the incredible advances happening year after year, at a very fast pace... The infraestructure, architecture, city planning, landscapes, etc, es incredible...There is no secret now, just to give you an example, that China has the biggest, most modern, beautiful, stylish and efficient airports in the world... The rubbish some Westerner like to throw to the Chinese government and people, is nothing more than a despicable mix of fear, envy, prejudice and racism... To make things even more clear, I am an old man, originally from South America who became an Australian citizen more than 40 years ago... My opinions are based in pure and honest observations... Not in nationalism or parroqualism... My ethnic roots, a mix of Spanish and Latin American, have nothing to do in my plain admiration of the Chinese people.
