Yep. The RoC pretty much took the entire Chinese Navy and went to Taiwan during the Communist revolution. The CCP had 0 ships to invade with, but wanted to try anyway. Big mistake.

For example, the Chung Lung was an American-built vessel in 1944 but transferred to the RoC navy in 1949. Here’s another accidental event that you should’ve included in the video as well, the PRC intelligence told them that there were no tanks on the landing site during the invasion and the thing is they were correct. However, just the night before, one of the tanks of the 1st Battalion, 3rd Tank Regiment broke down on the exact location and a few tanks stayed behind while making repairs. They ended up using up all their ammo during the invasion and just ran down the PRC troops over with the tanks

Another fun fact about the tank is that the loader loaded the wrong ammunition of AP ammo instead of anti personnel one, and the gunner accidentally hit the firing pedal in panic. Then the AP shell, in totally dark, accurately slammed into the supply ship of PLA which loaded with explosives. The explosion lit up the sky and warned the kuomintang troops. It was also eliminated the only anti-tank weapon that PLA have, so the immobilized tank was able to sit on the beach as a permanent firing point.

You forgot the second best part: a platoon of M5 Stuart light tanks were present at the landing site when CCP forces hit the ground, entirely due to the fact that the platoon leader's tank had broken down during a training exercise earlier in the day and they'd been working to get it up and running again (specifically tanks # 64, 65, and 66 of the 1st platoon, 3rd company of the 1st battalion, 3rd tank regiment, 66 was the one who was immobilized). These tanks would be used throughout the battle, with the disabled one stuck with its front facing away from the beach, they simply used it as a bunker. When the landings began to falter the other tanks counter-attacked, pushing forward to provide mobile cover for ROC infantry assault teams, and even ramming the landing craft directly, unsurprisingly 15 tons of steel with a Cadillac engine smashes through wooden boats like paper. The M5 tank features heavily in the official mural depiction of the battle, and the actual tanks that took part are on display in Guningtou where they are known as "the bears of Kinmen."

You seem to have a mistaken recollection of events. Coco was harassed by Chinese nationalists, but she chose to leave for completely different reasons. These are no less bad than Japanese antis (if you search up Hololive Sora there's a chance of seeing several shorts doxing everyone. I reported them yesterday to Cover Corp.) Hololive China was also forced into retirement and horrendous slander painting them as Chinese nationalists was ever present on the internet, especially on Reddit. The pastebin material is extremely dubious and also insane. One of them was that Artia simply liked a post from a guy who was a nationalist and worked in the community for Hololive China (not surprising because there is quite a lot of people who like the government), so guilt by association. The nationalist forum/troll threads are also suspicious, having happened quite a while back and seemingly being part of the "Lenin was a mushroom" effect (fabricated evidence which looks correct at a surface level). My own translation project, which I spent around a month on, was completely dropped because people were so upset about it that half the Chinese dev team left. Arguably, a very small portion of Chinese people were upset by the initial Taiwan comment, but once the Reddit became ill, everyone decided to harden in conservatism or leave (they have patriotism in China too). It led to an outpouring of Sinophobia, r/China to have a routine panic, and very locally, for diaspora communities to get angry at VTubers for being a part of the cycle of hatred and vitriol. I remember Chinese people telling me in COVID they were afraid to go out and that internet hysteria made people think of them as part of the Chinese government or disease vectors. Also, the Hololive Reddit was seriously talking about reporting Chinese nationalists to the Chinese government in a report site and were talking about how anyone could be a "Chinese spy". It was horrendously racist and the Chinese community, including moderates, had an averse reaction to this. The only reason why you would mention this is the conflation of a historical event with "China bad". Furthermore, when Redditors talk about bootlicking or regime support, half of them aren't on the West Coast (which has one of the largest Han and other Chinese population), are probably not Chinese (some of them might be from the anti-communist diaspora, but this pool has weakened significantly in the past decade), and haven't realized the Chinese government support outside of say, Hong Kong or Canton has skyrocketed, mainly thanks to 14-17 year olds who have only grown up in a time where China is mentioned in the same breath as the US.

Well, the USSR didn't have many warm-water ports. Especially pre-WWII. So, it's not surprising that their navy wa underdeveloped compared to the UK and USA. China, on the otherhand has a massive coastline and was once the foremost Naval power in the world. So, their lack of development in that area is a little more perplexing.

Don't worry, china knows better then anyone else that they stand no chance in naval invasion. Instead, they were capturing taiwan from within for decades, tying its entire existence to china trade deals. China have strong position not because of its military, but because of carefully planned attacks from within countries china calls "unfriendly", with just some trade deals. World made a huge mistake, when they thought that china will not abuse power it was given.

They planned a major offensive but the year before it they wanted to make some preliminary attacks to test the Southern defences after the Americans had left. Turns out, the American soldiers were propping up the entire defence of the country AND its economy because the lack of American soldiers with money meant businesses couldn't sell anything anymore. What was supposed to be just a minor probing attack ended up collapsing the Southern Army and causing a huge tide of refugees and Southern soldiers to flee south towards Saigon. The amount of refugees choked the roads so thoroughly that the Northerners easily caught up with them and started shelling them to keep them fleeing.

@@FloofyMinari and still failed miserably despite getting all kinds of aid btw by this amazing superpower america and the other allied forces and statistically having a FAR FAR LARGER and FAR more technologically superior army with an airforce etc etc and still losing to the communists who generally wielded firearms and guns and while yes being supplied by the ussr had still FAR less and far worse technology and less army than the nationalists with their total incompetence. not even having any navy whatsoever as is clearly evident in their use of the peanut boat 🤣. and meanwhile these same nationalists who would also have lost the war to the japanese who would have totally clapped them if not for all of the allied and American support and the nukes being dropped. sure they did more fighting then the communists, but being supposedly the leading government and army throughout china and possessing FAR MORE territory manpower, technology to again this army with pretty much just guns no airforce navy etc, that is TRULY EMBARASSING of a defeat and just reflects their incompetence so OUTRIGHTLY. them having "fought" the japanese (which again they would have lost to if not for america because they were so incompetent it appears anyone they fought they would be clapped by) doesn't suddenly magically make them that weak with their still far larger manpower and their constant supplies from the allies which continued even after the japanese surrender and their far better technology (also supplied to them they wouldn't be competent enough to make this technology themselves). saying that their battles with the japanese and the USSR with their support almost completely consisting of just guns and some abandoned japanese equipment and that being the entire reason why they with their huge supplies from various allied nations with aircraft and navy and yet still managed to lose is at this point just a really lousy excuse and a failed attempt at covering up the utter incompetence of the nationalist "army". 🤣🤣☠
