China to build a future city on the Indian Ocean, which can accommodate 250,000 people?

The waves of the Indian Ocean gently beat against the breakwater, and the 3-kilometer-long offshore breakwater is like an arm, embracing 269 hectares of newly filled land... This is the Port City Colombo, Sri Lanka, which was named one of the "5 New Cities Affecting the Future" by Forbes magazine.
Known as the "Crossroads of the East", Sri Lanka has become an important port in the world hundreds of years ago. On September 16, 2014, under the witness of Chinese President Xi and then Sri Lankan President Rajapaksa, China Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company, signed a concession agreement for the Colombo Port City project with the Sri Lankan government.
On September 17, the Colombo Port City project officially started. The planned construction scale exceeds 5.3 million square meters, including 276 hectares of land reclamation planned to be completed in 3 years. It is planned to initially form a scale in 5 to 8 years, and complete the construction in 20 to 25 years.

Good. Sri Lanka and China joint cooperation in the modern mega port with many other facilities to make Sri Lanka Great Again. Sri Lanka people should be appreciative of China help to revive Sri Lanka badly affected economy. India closest neighbour didn't have the means to help Sri Lanka development. US is only keen to make use of Sri Lanka port for military purposes to control the Indian Ocean and not providing financial aids to Sri Lanka.

How about a metro rail network with many lines that will allow all citizens to gain access to all parts of the city and is being built to be the cities transportation backbone. Then light rail and trolly and BRT routes to also make mass transit the preferred most convenient way of travel.....

I really like the idea of building a new city from nothing. This way it is possible to innovate without the restriction of old concepts and chose the most efficient design for modern living. I hope they do a better job then the golf countries who build their new cities to model the west old concepts of mega city.

You're right about that. The city is only built for the political elite and their cronies. This is their way of separating out an urban utopia for themselves from the masses and poverty in the rest of Colombo. The average Sri Lankan probably won't be allowed to access this area let alone benefit from it. It will also be a haven for money laundering, no oversight of laws there.

North of Russia is Very Cold; China is at southern part of small Mongolia which is immediately south of Russia. Since China is adept in Tunnelling by now, it should draw 2 diagonal lines from S.E of China to N.W of Russia and from S.W of China to N.E of Russia and Start Tunnelling several feet down to escape effect of that dirty Snow. China & Russia need Abundant Progress and are Capable of accomplishing that. Russia sent Sputnik into Space before U.S knew what it was all about. So, priorities should come first. If China can finish it within 2 years, it should put fullstop to other works abroad for 2 year and start this and finish it. Remember there is no Sea voyage in these 2 S.E to N.W and S.W to N.E directions !

Remember that this project will pay for itself; An Alternate way of Mining in modern days. So many precious metals and precious stones of various areas while digging these tunnels, which are essential for Researchers. Where does all that soil go after removal? Need to be transported to Deserts and spread over the sand there. No more deserts. Also, both passenger & goods trains moving separately or together. Also, at the center where the 2 diagonal tunnels intercept each other, some train compartments should momentarily detach and go up onto the soil. Future generations may add oval circles of tunnels, at different levels, if it is needed. May be tunnel from Argentina/Chile all the way up to Alaska, who knows? End Result: NO MORE Deserts. And with all the surplus equipment left behind, a short, half-mile or 1 mile long tunnel underneath the Soil of Moon, for varying Research Teams to work without interference from lack of gravity. What we need is abundant free energy. All of the above can be done with that. Imagine no. of Engineering professionals and Manual laborers that will be benefited, apart from the entire mankind !
