I have never been so ashamed to be American as I am right now. The poor people of the Marshall Islands. But the US didn’t just invade Okinawa for no reason, Japan bombed the crap out of us, so we retaliated. So I have less sympathy for them. Civilians always pay the biggest price though and it’s extremely unfair. Just please tell the whole picture, not just the part you want to tell. This makes me not trust the rest of the film.

I'm not sure I agree that America or the West was looking for a new enemy or adversary after the fall of the USSR. Many people of the time in academic, political, and everyday circles alike saw the fall of the USSR and the end of the Cold War as "the end of history." I don't think America wants a worthy adversary WHATSOEVER. What America wants is the stability of American hegemony as the status quo. America doesn't want any real competition. Any time a true potential competitor rises, the US contends with it adversarially.

An average income of $1000 a month is lifted out of poverty? Sounds like poverty to me. I make 4X that, and I can’t support myself. I’d need 3X or 4X more, just to be able to buy a house, and a car.
