Countries like US don't try to hide the worst they have. Homeless people on streets in big cities, dirty metro - but if you go deeper, you will actually see how nice US is. I live in Montreal, Canada and the downtown of Montreal is full of trash and homeless people. But in my suburban area it's completely different - nice houses, safe environment, parks, good transportation system. China is complete opposite. CCP's goal is to create perfect facade, so they spend billions on metro, they take homeless from streets (what's happening to these homeless is another story), clean streets in touristic places. But if you step outside of it - you will find completely different China. The real one - extreme poverty, and infrastructure that is falling apart. Same way Soviet Union worked - Stalin spent billions to make the most beautiful metro in 1935, while 90% of population lived like it was 19th century.

China has one billion people below the extreme poverty threshold. Many of them are not allowed in the city and they have separate passports for urban people and rural people. That they have ”overcome” poverty is ablatent lie. Even then, why would you prefer a society without drugs (china has lots of drug abuse) just to gove up all your human rights? @@myintmaunmaun oh boy) You can try this propaganda trick on Canadians/Americans, but I came to Canada from Russia - the country that invented communist propaganda. The image of "homeless people doing drugs on the streets in america" was the answer to critique of anything in Soviet Union XD What poverty in China has to do with drugs? Or homeless on streets? The tragedy is that Chinese extreme poverty are working people, not homeless drug-addict. I remember China episode of "Idiot Abroad" from 2010 that takes trip along The Great Wall - with visiting non-touristic cities and towns - I don't think that toothless man with dirty bags full of live toads on a local market or old woman whose main hobby is to prepare her own coffin were "drug addict". Yep, "overcome extreme poverty". And those who are not in extreme poverty live in these nightmare 100-floors concrete copy-paste buildings - I lived in places like that in Russia. Anyone can just take Google Maps right now with satelite view and zoom at any random city in China - it will be mix of slums and concrete(tofu-made?) 100-floor blocks. If I compare my new Tesla to my old 1970s Audi clearly the Tesla's gonna look better and have more features. It's pathetic that China does this, they actually make themselves look foolish and ignorant. What they're also highlighting is the terrible corruption in China that allows infrastructure to be built so quickly, definitely will not last 50 years like western infrastructure did.

Yes, the subways in China are going to be better quality than most of the ones in the US. But as you point out, this is because the Chinese subways have the benefit of being made 10-15 years ago whereas the London and NYC subway have been running for over a century. Even still, knowing that it's "not fair" to compare the two does nothing to make the London or NYC Subway more pleasant. So in my mind China takes the W on this one. We got to enjoy subway travel 100 years before they did, but in exchange they get to enjoy subway travel at a higher quality than we do now. So it's a trade-off. Offhand, China will also like to brag about how many km of HSR (High-speed rail) they have constructed over the past 15 years. The problem is that there is no "magic secret" to how this was done. They did it by going THREE TRILLION dollars into debt. Most of those HSR lines are not profitable and will never be able to pay for themselves. That said, not everything a government does has to pay off monetarily. The CCP may believe it was worth it to pay a large sum of money to try and make the country more interconnected. Why, then, doesn't America similarly go three trillion into debt by building their own HSR network across the entire country? Because they don't need to. The US already has more airports and flight routes than the next ten leading countries COMBINED. In other words, Americans simply fly to where they want to go. Arguably just as convenient for the American consumer and definitely more profitable for the government (and taxpayers-- keep in mind the government can't simply grow money out of nowhere; all their expenditures are financed by the country's citizens in the form of taxes).
@tvk9030Ай бұрын

(At least that's the case I see in Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Shanghai. Pretty sure smaller towns are way worse) Many stations over 5 years old look like they are over 20 years old. The noise level of train tracks in most lines is a lot worse than that of train lines in Hong Kong or Japan. My dear brothers and sisters, if you hold dear the essence of what it means to be human, I urge you to reconsider any journey to China. The path there is fraught with dangers, not only to the body but to the soul. The relentless pursuit of material wealth has taken deep root, driven by a fear of the future and an overwhelming desire to secure one’s old age. In this race for money, the spirit of compassion and simplicity has been overshadowed. But more concerning is the doctrine that divides, a belief system that has allowed racism to take hold, perpetuating exclusion where there should be unity. This stands in direct contrast to the truth that all of us, regardless of race or creed, are part of one human family. The greatness of a nation does not lie in its riches but in the richness of its love and respect for all. I urge you to reflect deeply on these matters. Seek places where the values of peace, equality, and understanding flourish, for it is only in such soil that humanity can truly grow. Let us remember that our greatest wealth lies not in what we possess, but in the love we share and the respect we show to one another. The CCP has bankrupted China morally, spiritually, and financially.

This means that it is one of the Keio lines. Keio Corporation does not operate trains in China, as far as I could find out. P.S.: I looked more into it and it is Kokuryou Station in the Keio Line. It was probably a video from the Halloween stabbing in 2021. Kyota Hattori, the perpetrator was caught and sentenced to 23 years in 2023.

This obsession with being bigger and better reflects a phobia of being inferior. To which when it's not itbis covered up or lied about. What kind of life is this when you have to be constantly attempting to be better.... how about useful utility of service or investment recovery?

Carriages in trains. A cart is a wheeled wagon, pulled by animals or people. China's civil engineering is enmired in poor quality. It collapses in months; not decades or centuries. Ironically, old China was not like that. This is modern governance or lack of quality control.

The other thing they like to boast about is the wildly futuristic looking opera house. I had to point out to them that it was designed by a famous architect from Iraq, a woman. No reply.

I live in Beijing, and have done for quiet awhile, as for the subways , yeah depending on what line you take at what time, you can get crushed getting on or off, sometime your not able to get off. As for feeling safe… yes there is less crime, but I don’t feel safe. Especially if you are involved, myself and my dog where attached by a drunken guy and his two dogs, his dogs where biting and pulling at my legs/trousers, so I kicked one of the dogs away…. He then grabs and try to starts to fight with me, me not wanting to hurt a drunken old man, moved out of his way several times ( we are told from our employer any trouble voids visas) so I move out of the way and he falls…. I leave and walk my dog, I come home to six or seven police waiting at my front door… the take me to the police station where the drunk guy is sat there asking for ¥50,000 for compensation… so yeah while there is seeming less crime, your not safe .. (this is not my only experience here)

actually a super insightful video... a month or so ago i saw someone argue that there are no homeless people in China, whereas they roam the streets of America... and that this was due to China's disciplined culture and good social safety nets. i went on believing this until somewhat recently i decided to fact-check the statistics, only to find out the rate of homelessness is practically the same as the US. i do consider myself a leftist but some people take things way too far just to reinforce their narrative.

2:12 Authoritarianism is all about aesthetics. Its all "My Beautiful Infrastructure, My Beautiful Art, My Beautiful People, My Beutiful Orderly Society and Their ragged infrastructure, Their degenerate art, Their ulgy people, Their barbaric society." In these aspects the US and China are getting way closer than one would wish, China by choice of its leader and the US by choice of its Media.

Is not about whether good or not is all efficiency, if is clean probably there are not passengers. Why wasted so much resources building long distances where hardly utilised that the revenue are mot able to cover basic costs.

Guangzhou's subway's older lines are less than 20 years old and look more run down than Buenos Aires Line A, built in the late 1800s. I'm not even comparing to the US. In all fairness China's subways look nice (they all look the same tho...) and new but I don't think they can last over 100 years.

The Beijing Subway looks nice on the outside and there are always new lines being build but the ride experience is absolutely awful. There’s security check at every station which is really annoying. Also btw, the train attack footage from 4:30 appears to be from Japan though.
