Chinaco looks lovely, he still has his personality which is a good sign that he's been trained fairly, as a partner, and not drilled into submission like some trainers like to do. I'd prefer a horse that communicates with me rather than a robot, that's why we ride horses not dirtbikes

Thank you for riding this beautiful horse bitless. Proves yet again you don't need pain to train correctly. Hats off to you sir.

Always a highlight to my day to see a Pat and Deb video up. I so appreciate your time in putting out these bits of wisdom, and I am one who is working on an older horse, between his injuries and my health it's taken this long to get going. I love that you tell us what you are doing with your body to get the correct action from the horse, and what the back-up plan is if the first one isn't understood. That is so helpful. Happiest of New Year to you all and I am looking forward the nest video, and Chinaco is looking splendid.

Appreciation isn't a big enough word, both of you do so much for people interested in the western horse. I have become a big fan of Chinaco as well and would love to have him if he ever came up for sale, lucky for him I don't think I could afford another horse because I would ruin him with my lack of skill. There was no youtube to refer to when I was growing up or when I was a young man and I was too busy riding to stop and take the time to read but I have been following you two wonderful folks as close as my memory will let me and I can't describe how good it feels when something comes together. Probably the best lesson that I have learned is patience. I spent an hour roping a mare this morning before she would even acknowledge I was on the other end of the rope, a year ago I probably would have worked her half to death but I just stayed relaxed and kept her moving until she finally decided she needed to put her attention on me and what we needed to get accomplished together so that she could clock out. I will never be the horseman/woman you guys are but by God I am getting better everyday and my horses are the better for it. I was out of the horse biz for around 20 years and I was utterly surprised by the fact that I had lost confidence when a mare my wife bought turned out to be aggressive, that is what made me really get into youtube and begin to follow Mr. Pat and Miss Deb and it has been so much of a gift to me and my nags. I will eventually buy the dvd's but I am totally refitting, I have had to fence, build a round pen and shelters for shade and everything else that goes along with having equines with very little help and it keeps most of my money going to the farm supply and lumber stores. I am getting close though, a little more fencing and I can take a breath. Thank You Both again. J.B.

Pat's arrangement of the logs into a pentagon is such a good idea because if you just do logs in a straight line, the horse is ready to quit when he nears the end of the log. This way, the horse doesn't expect to stop -- either completely or to go back the other way.

Thank you for the time spent in doing what you do. When I look at you riding, listen to your short, direct, and intelligent comments, I believe there is still hope for horses and those who love them for what horses truly are not for what they wish they would be. Hope you enjoyed the Maple Sirrup :)

Appreciate all your videos no longer have a horse but my last ride was an Arabian gelding. Completely wild at 4 yo By 8 he was in a spade. I did a year on ground. Very important. Did not get on his back for first 4 months. Hell, I get Long winded. Hit most of your technique. You and Cinaco are providing my horse fix

Pat glad you are healing so fast .As a kid all we had to ride that had any class were Standard bred horses It didn't matter what their gait was because we taught er them to canter early . The one that were broke to drive were the easiest to re train . We called the eye covers ( blinkers ). I started my first stud colt when I was 13--14 he was a Standard bred and turned out well by those standards . I fell off plenty but we were tough I knew nothing about riding except what I did so if it worked I Used it many stories of decks but some success too . I turned 80 on the 21st of August I just quit sold probably the two best I ever had no more decks for me. I will probably get run over by a rain deer and die but I will continue to tune in just to hear a guy that makes sence

Very nice Pat!!! My 8 month old stud I have been doing ground work with is moving faster than any of the 700 colts i have started in my life. I took him to my sisters this weekend and let him carry a saddle and go with us while we moved cows to warmer pasture my sis was so confused she said he doesn’t even act like a colt. I used to be very aggressive in training and with him i am bringing more of a this is how i want it done will you help approach breathing pressure no pressure moving forward coming back to questions later after he accepts the idea and it is working so much faster thank you so much for what you do!!!

When I took english riding lessons it seemed that the only time we turned our head was to look toward the jump or when riding around a curve in the arena. I think what youre doing Pat is dressage without flash noseband, "rollkur" or overly flexing the horse at the poll.
