Another great video. Thank you so much. It’s always nice to see your respect for the horse you are riding, and saying what you are doing and why - it makes things sensible. I always enjoy your history lessons too.

That stupid cowboy TV show, mentioned last video, is no longer showing episodes on KZbin. Thank you for voicing your opinion and shedding some light on the absurdity of it all! Looks like your colt is coming around real nice. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride. He is sure gonna be a dandy and everyone gets to witness a real cowboy/horseman in action. Best of luck in all your endeavors from Cripple creek, Colorado.

John Reilly was the leader of the San Patricios, I believe. I feel a very strong kinship to that man for obvious reasons. "And the English hated the Irish." Yes. And the feeling was mutual. I still struggle with that feeling myself from time to time. Thanks for the history lesson, Pat.

in case you're reading comments, how old was pat when he started his first colt? I'm 15 now, I started the white horse I have videos of on my profile at 12. I started his brother at 13 or 14.

Pat, great you are starting your own riding school. Are you providing the horses for the schooling? T.Y.
@PatnDebPuckett3 жыл бұрын
Most students will bring their own horses. When that is not possible such as people coming from overseas, we will have a horse available.
@TDon573 жыл бұрын
Pat I think most ranchers prepare for what is coming no matter what you call it pro active or boy scouting :) As for the Irish deserters maybe hanging was more than they deserved but they did sign on to server in the U.S. military. I know if I deserted I may not have been hanged but would have been locked up and that goes the same for my buddy, he was a Filipino citizen who joined the U.S. Navy becoming a U.S citizen when his hitch was up. I am kind of surprised we had Englishman in the U.S. military considering the times and history. Good video though, I learn a lot from you and Deb.

Do you say “he’s born in collection” because he naturally carries himself that way?
@PatnDebPuckett6 ай бұрын
Yes. In other words, Pat chose a breed of horse that naturally wants to be on the hindquarters and is naturally higher at the wither than the hip.

I was born on St. Patty's. I'd like to think that makes me part Irish 😎 Hope you are doing well Pat & Deb. Gracias por el video- Johnny

Thomas concannon in galway Ireland here pat.I hope you had a good saint Patrick's day.I had not heard that story about the Irish fellas fighting for Mexico.they always seem to end up in the wrong end of the rope,,,the Irish. Anyway keep up the good work.I do look forward to your video.and regards to your wife .she does a very good job.

Hi Pat, tradition but sometimes it's time to change. This bumping on reins comes from hackamore but use that with rope halter is not good. Take a sidepull instead, it's so much better for that circling. Look at my wife when she starts a spanish colt in sidepull, inside leg in turn is so much easier to do. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6vQdmR5gMelbtk
@PatnDebPuckett3 жыл бұрын
The difference in our style of horsemanship is that we don’t want to hold the horse in the frame: We want him to carry the bend himself. That is why Pat bumps and releases rather than holds.
@dnulsrot3 жыл бұрын
@@PatnDebPuckett A release is a release, not how long hand moves. But look how the horse starts turn and bend with the inner leg. That's what we talk about.
@dnulsrot3 жыл бұрын
@@PatnDebPuckett Maybe the effect of sidepull shows better in this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWath5VjoM1_Y5o
@PatnDebPuckett3 жыл бұрын
Neither horse is in collection. In the first video, there is no float in the rein. No feel. Both are examples of riding with too much hand and not enough body. I don’t understand why you clapped your hands at your horse.
@dnulsrot3 жыл бұрын
@@PatnDebPuckett :) computers, the video about the effect of sidepull was missing, The garrocha was just a video of "introducing the garrocha", first time with one hand. This was the video that should have been there the release is there all time but the take is shorter and also the release is shorter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYK8comZha6phK8 How it looks some hour later you can see in the 4 days footage.
