Lots of people asking how I mount it: the ONE X2 comes with a standard 1/4" thread mount (like the tripod mount on most consumer cameras) so you can use this to mount it to Insta360's own 'invisible selfie stick' or any other camera tripod / accessories you have. But, most of the options probably open up when you use a 1/4" to "GoPro" mount adapter. My favourite ways to mount it are: 1) under the GPS mount on the front of the bike. In this location you basically only use the front half of the 360'. It's essentially like a standard action camera but with the advantage of better stabilization, disadvantage of lower resolution. 2) On top of the helmet. You look like a teletubbie walking around with an antenna on your head, but the camera has a great vantage point to see everything. Being so high, the sense of speed is lower, but your head is already a smooth place to mount something; with the great flowstate stabilization, it's silky smooth. 3) On the helmet with the 'unicorn mount' - In the video you can see this in the shot with my son on his mountain bike. It's a great place to mount because you can look back at the rider, forwards at the train, or down and the handlebars. Again, disadvantage is you look a bit "speshal" walking around like a unicorn. 3) Chest mount. With the chest mount you're only using about half the sensor, but you get that nice "first person" feeling. 4) Mouth mount. I only used this a few times. The main advantage of mouth mounts is the stabilization is great, but with the ONE X2, it's not really needed. I ended up drooling on my camera and you get jaw-lock on long descents, haha. 5) Quick release mounts. I have a GoPro quick release end mount. It replaces the 'nut' end of the quick release skewer. This lets you get those nice low-down shots. Not many disadvantages of this mounting point, other than you have to be careful not to hit a rock or something. 7) Clamps. There are plenty of clamps out there that you can use to clamp on various tubes of your frame. I didn't use any in this video I think. Most places on the frame are actually pretty likely to be hit by your legs when you're pedaling - so they're of limited use. 8) Invisible selfie stick. The telescopic selfie stick goes in a jersey pocket with half of it sticking out. It might fall out if you get really dicey on the trail. When I wanna take a shot, just pull it out and extend it. For the shots where you see the camera looking back at me, I just have the selfie stick in one hand while holding the shifters of the bike. With my small Trump hands it's a bit of a handful (hah!) but it's rideable. I wouldn't wanna do a super gnarly descent like it as you don't have full grip on the brake lever. Maybe Hydraulic discs would be fine as you only need one finger to brake.

I was gonna include this in the video, but it was already pretty long and these videos usually aren't my most popular. If there's enough demand, or if this video magically takes off; maybe I'll make a follow-up video showing how to get these shots and exactly the mounts you need. Any specific questions about mounting reply to this thread and I'll try get back to you!

So, it comes with a standard tripod mount screw thread hole. From there I either mount directly to a selfie stick or attach a gopro mount converter. The gopro mount can that attach under my Wahoo, on my helmet, on the stem, in a mouth mount, or on a special quick release end cap. Insta360 also have a unicorn helmet mount which I used for the shot of my son on his MTB

Nice video! Lately, I've started using Insta360 cameras on my rides around town with my dog.🚴🐕I managed to mount Insta360 Extended edition selfie stick (300 cm) with the Insta360 X4 over the front wheel of the bicycle using the quick release system. So, I can stop riding the bicycle anywhere, put it on the stand, and continue filming my dog without pausing. Also, I placed the second Insta360 Ace Pro camera on the bicycle seat tube to film what is happening behind me. With this, I covered the area that cannot be recorded by the front camera because of me, because I interfere in the shot. In this way, I can cover literally everything that happens around me while riding a bike, and thus watch all the runs of my dog around me, this way I get great shots suitable for slowing down. I am really excited about both insta360 cameras!

everything you say is true, it's a great device. however, it lacks in sensor size, resolution, and overall picture quality. There is too much digital sharpening, the data rate is not sufficient and artifacts are strong. It makes the storytelling but for a fan of crisp footage, it's very hard to overlook the lag in video quality, speaking for myself.

I recently purchased and started riding ICan Cycling carbon wheels, they're great for that budget price. A set of Yeoleo carbon wheels coming soon to my doorstep:) I am looking for an alternative for the Cycliq's FLY12 & 6 front & rear cams. With more and more accidents on the road, how does Insta360 compare to Cycliq's as a security/safety onboard camera? Does it have a looping record function and crash detection feature..meaning it stops and stores the footage during a crash and not continue to record over. Thanks a million. Keep doing what you are doing becos I think's great!!

My pet hate with the Insta360 is software, shot a few criteriums with a Insta360 One R mounted on the fork skewer. Took almost two hours to keyframe and compose the video, which as a manual process is not bad, but not great. Then it took over 24 hours to render the output on my macbook. Too long, if you are trying to push out content quickly, so started using smaller clips instead. Do recommend the fork skewer mount for action shots. Also experimented with One R as a follow cam with a pole aka selfie stick mounted to seatpost at 45 degree angle. Tip don't use a selfie stick, it is too heavy, so it moves around and you get footage that makes you seasick, get a couple of lightweight carbon fibre extension poles and use them instead. Examples of both on my channel. The One X2 looks a step up in form factor and sound quality , but not enough for me to replace the One R
@ChinaCycling3 жыл бұрын
I wonder if the render time is a mac thing. On my mediocre laptop, I can export 1 min of footage in about 20-30 seconds. I think they could include some better features in the app like controlling composition in real time with an Xbox controller or whatever.
@nickobec3 жыл бұрын
It is an older low spec mac. It is still around 5 times slower than your laptop, for short clips. Blame that on 1 low spec 2 maybe insta360 have not got their heads round macs 3 exporting in prores so I can import on a linux box (with decent specs) to edit. Would like a linux version of Insta360 Studio
@kidShibuya3 жыл бұрын
Meh. The footage is ultra low bitrate. Also the camera is super weak in the dark. I think we are still 20 years away from usable action cams.

Nice vid again, thanks for good action. 👍🏼👏🏼 This is missing in other vids. So you could show perfectly, how good the stabilisation of insta X2 is. I want to use a 360 cam for windsurfing and believe me, water bumps you every second 😂 So my main interests are the mounts for the X2. And the most important question: Can you fade in speed data and/or track data? Some GoPro are able to do, but not the max. And the stabilisation of the max is in my opinion not so good. Thanks for your help 👍🏼

video quality from these just look really bad... the fish eye lens on a tiny sensor, you end up cropping a lot
@ChinaCycling3 жыл бұрын
You're essentially using a tiny tiny bit of that 5.7k resolution, so the overall resolution suffers. Personally I think it makes up for it (compared to something like a GoPro Hero, or DJI Action camera, or even the Insta360 R 1 inch mod) with the huge variety of possible shots and improved stabilization. But everyone is gonna put their priorities in different places.
@Nobody-Nowhere3 жыл бұрын
@@ChinaCycling Yeah.. you do get a lot of possibilities for editing. I just dont think the sensors is enough for it.... you also need to add the fish eye correction to the mix, the bitrate to record the dual camera data in its totality in the first place. So basically this has the same hardware as the tiny new camera, square sensor of 2880x2880.. just two of them.

Compression actifacts quality from KZbin is kinda bad. Sad
@ChinaCycling3 жыл бұрын
Some of that is from the footage itself. So you can shoot 'normal' colours with the ONE X2, or you can shoot "log" or "pro" colours. The colours come out more flat, so you don't loose data in the highlights or shadows. BUT, the bit rate isn't quite high enough, so when you start pushing around the colours too much, it sometimes amplifies the compression artifacts. KZbin itself then amplifies these compression artifacts again, and so it gets a bit blocky. I think in the future I'll just use the regular colours.
