I have worked on transmission and vehicle control unit software design for several popular car makers including BMW, Peugeot, Fiat and Ford. We have been also selling these products to Chinese auto companies as well. The main difference of the European and Chinese versions of the sw was the security and quality modules. Chinese auto makers were always rejecting the security modules and also were not caring about the quality checks which make the sw a lot cheaper. By then we thought that they are going to develop those modules by themselves. But then we learned that they were deploying the automobiles without all those sw modules directly to the customers which is absolutely not allowed to do in Europe.

All of the software issues, such as being able to open the doors by talking to the car, can likely be fixed thru software updates. Other issues, such as stiff suspension and the lack of alternative door locks would require hardware changes. I'm not surprised - the automotive business is much more complex in practice than most people seem to think. All new entrants have a steep learning curve. Tesla had (and still has) a huge number of problems with their cars. 16 years later they are now making pretty solid, stable cars (well, except for the Cybertruck...) As to the crashes, look, this is a Porsche wannabee car. I'm going to assume that there are a certain number of buyers who are going to try and drive it like a Porsche. There could also be other problems, but 99% of road crashes are due to human error. Small brake pads: This is an interesting one. As an electric vehicle, most braking is usually accomplished via regeneration and so the vehicle doesn't need as much brake capacity as an ICE vehicle. However, if it is being driven as a performance vehicle, especially if tracked, then yes, it needs bigger brakes. But this is true of any vehicle driven on the track. Here in the U.S., anyone who tracks their car will use a separate set of wheels and tires and will also put on new brake pads and rotors before each race. If you want to track that car, you should probably be upgrading the calipers as well. Just saying. BTW, I'm not trying to say it is a perfectly fine car, I'm just pointing out that it's a new car from a company who hasn't made cars before, and also the customers may very well be not using it appropriately. Is some of this Xiaomi's fault for designing and promoting this as a performance car while the engineering doesn't seem to support that? Yes, of course. But history is strewn with cars that looked flashy and couldn't deliver the performance without serious upgrades. The customer has to take some responsibility for knowing what it is that they are buying.

Single layer windows? In Australia we only use single layer. We don't do double glaze in cars. Didn't even know that was a thing. I know airplanes do it
@felixtag51219 ай бұрын
Double is usually standard for Cars - also most likely all cars sold in Australian from all the known Brands use that like VW/AUDI/MB / BMW/ JEEP or whatever - all of them have that standard... It's for Insulation to stop Heat/Cold Transfer from the inside out and vice versa. It is extremely thin and not visible to the eye like that. But the argument "I can yell commands from the outside" is stupid as this is not for that... sure it will have "some effect" for noise reduction but not that massive as there is close to none gap to prevent noise. So, to not be able to jell commands from the outside will work also with Double layer glass - that’s just a software problem and they will fix that - also the thing with the GPS with some software updates.... The 2 main flaws that would concern me - 1st: the Brake Pads THAT IS A BIIIIGGGG Problem - and 2nd: that the Air tank for the Suspension is based in the Back. These Air Tanks usually sit behind the Front axis... if you get rear ended like in the video with the lotus crashing the SU7 you won’t be driving anywhere after that with all the suspensions deflate…

Instead of sarcasm or racist comment, why not give suggestion, feedback or recommendation From my point of view, first batch usually have flaw and they’ll improve on the next batch Xiaomi is one of the few company to release EV car in this generation which is quite impressive Everyone sure fail during their first few invention or attemp. A great example which is Thomas Edison who invented light bulb But I agree one thing which is quality wise they need to improve more on that

People should wait more version to come out then buy. People just want to own the thing on first version. Phone also the same, look at samsung folder phone, it has many problem when it first came out, but it getting better in each their new version.

GPS navigation is so popular technology with low cost. Even Xiaomi's phone works well. Thanks to Android. What happened to car? Maybe they can't copy Tesla?

It is not always advisable to buy a car from the first batch, especially from a manufacturer that has never built a car before. So, I have to say, even Xiaomi was surprised by the number of orders; they are simply overwhelmed and have no capacity. I don't think these problems will be solved quickly; on the contrary, they will get worse.

They never test it just like the cheapest Toyota from 2000. Toyota do improve over the time, wait and see what Chinese can come out.
