@@fetsfer Items: Brushes: Chinese calligraphy brushes (known as "毛笔" in Chinese) come in various sizes and materials. Beginners usually start with medium-sized brushes made of goat, wolf, or mixed hair. These brushes provide a good balance of flexibility and control. Ink: You can start with bottled Chinese ink, which is traditionally made from soot and water. Alternatively, you can use ink sticks ("mo" in Chinese) along with an inkstone ("砚" in Chinese) to grind ink. This method allows you to control the consistency and intensity of the ink. Paper: Chinese calligraphy is often practiced on rice paper ("宣纸" or "米纸" in Chinese), which is thin and absorbent. Beginners can use practice paper or inexpensive rice paper to start with. Inkstone: If you choose to use ink sticks, you'll need an inkstone to grind the ink. Look for a smooth, flat inkstone made of stone, ceramic, or porcelain. Water Container: A container for holding water is necessary for diluting ink and cleaning brushes. You can use a small ceramic bowl or a dedicated water container. Felt Pad or Cloth: A felt pad or soft cloth is used to protect the desk or table surface while practicing calligraphy. It also helps control excess ink on the brush. Calligraphy Paperweights: These are optional but can be helpful for holding down the paper to keep it flat while writing. Practice Sheets or Books: Beginners can find practice sheets or books with basic stroke exercises and character examples to follow.

To all westerners watching this calligraphy video, if you ever pick up chinese calligraphy, make sure you write it from top to bottom, right to left. - The writer has beautiful letterforms but any practitioners writing should write in the direction I mentioned above to set up the 'stage'/framework properly, the energy flows that way, vertically, right to left. ~

Fascinating! And extremly beautiful Calligraphy. I had no idea of certains special gestures in that process; for example, the subtle, opposition motions of the brush, occuring on the beginning of a straight vertical stroke, or, most surprisingly to me, at the end of a horizontal stroke. The way these gestures tint the paper through a contradictory motion, but not compromising the end result, is incredible. It would not have been so clear in this video, if you didn't have that nearly slow-motion, absolute control of the strokes.🙀I've seen many videos on these kind of Calligraphy, but this is the first time I've spotted this particular quality. Thanks for sharing such treasure, Master!
