I heard they have to have a bit of humidity how often do you spray them? Do you have to have a heating lamp or are they fine with a bit of lighting and what size tank do you recommend?
@cloudberries3 жыл бұрын
They need around 50-60% humidity, I spray down every other day roughly. They don’t need a heat lamp-these geckos live in cool cave areas in China in the wild and can’t tolerate temperatures above 80°F. Normal house temperatures are usually perfect for them (65°F-75°F) and if home temps are lower than that, a tank heater can be used with a thermostat. Natural room lighting / ambient lighting is fine; they are nocturnal and don’t require any additional light sources. CCGs spend most of their time hiding! Most care guides say a 10 gallon tank is fine for a CCG, but in reality it will be too small for a full-grown adult. Just like leopard geckos, 20 gallon long is the minimum for one of these guys :-) hope this helps!

What is an inexpensive frog or toad that can tolerate handling. I also want them to be quiet. Got any suggestions? Thanks!
@subscribealready30316 жыл бұрын
None really. Oils in our skin take moisture from them and harm them. No amphibian pets are to be handled. You can handle a toad for a bit longer because of their think skin, but beware that they squirt toxins that can give you a heart attack. I have kept pacman frogs, leopard geckos, rankin dragons, agama, tree frogs, dart frogs, chubby frogs, millipedes, crested geckos, and more. The reptiles (especially leopard geckos and the dragon) are the tamest and like handling. The frogs get agitated. You really a should not handle amphibians. If you want something to handle, go for a reptile.
@joshsfrogsvideos55946 жыл бұрын
While it is true in a majority of cases that you should not handle amphibians for extended periods of time because our skin has oils on it, you can handle some of more popular pet frogs such as the white's tree frog. Also, while there are some species of toads that have potent toxins, heart attacks as a symptom of them is not something that will occur across the board. Many species may cause skin irritation or brief illness.

@joshsfrogsvideos55946 жыл бұрын
Hello, Jungle mix is a good substrate. A pair would be fine in a 10 gallon, but I would not keep a male and female together year round - there's a chance the male may bother the female outside of breeding season. If you choose to do so, be sure to remove the male if an animal begins to lose weight.
@Captainluck126 жыл бұрын
joshsfrogsvideos so would a pair of females be ok
@joshsfrogsvideos55946 жыл бұрын
Yah, that wouldn't be a problem. It may be hard to track down sexed cave geckos though, especially females. There's a huge demand for them, and they are expensive and sell quickly when available.

joshsfrogsvideos for some reason there is a store by me who is selling them very cheaply right now . Idk what their genders are because they have two in the same tank together

Hello, Thanks for reaching out to us!! Have you tried any other type of feeder? Here is some information on Feeding: Feeding: Chinese Cave geckos are insectivores, and thrive on a staple diet of dubia roaches or crickets. Waxworms, black soldier fly larvae, butterworms, and the occasional mealworm make a great treat. All feeder insects should be dusted with a vitamin/mineral supplement, and fed in an escape-proof bowl. Let us know if you still need help!! Thanks, Jodi

@JoshsFrogs5 жыл бұрын
Hey Oscar! For Chinese cave geckos, you can house females together with rarely any issue (we've only ever had one instance of aggression between two females), provided there is enough space and food. Males of this species are territorial, however, and should never be housed together. For breeding purposes at our facility, we usually keep one male with 1-3 females, occasionally removing the male to allow the females a break.

Why r they also called Chinese LEOPARD geckos, they don’t even have spots!
@joshsfrogsvideos55946 жыл бұрын
They aren't leopard geckos and have different needs compared to leopard geckos, but some of them do have spots. Like seeing the spots on a melanistic leopard, though, they're not always easy to see in all lighting, but some Chinese cave gecko morphs (lighter than jet black) do have much more distinctive speckling, which can cause people to include "leopard" in their description. This can cause confusion, though, so we don't refer to them as being any form of Leopard Gecko.
