Supporting Clint’s Reptiles on Patreon makes me feel like I’m doing something good for the world- the educational content you create dispels many preconceptions and shares boundless love for our natural world. I don't understand how this is true, it's the base of Clints channel. The core of what he does, and asides from the new series on taxonomy, it's the majority of his content. There's no one type of content, debunking/poking fun at books/youtube theories, trips, general animal deep dives, etc that's as numerous as this series it seems. What's more iconic then Clint sitting at the table counting on his fingers (backwards) the categories of what makes a good pet?

It makes me really sad that the Best Pet videos aren't doing good anymore. They're such a great introduction to specific species and reptiles in general. I started watching them a few years ago when I was laid off from work and they helped me discover my love for reptiles. Because of them I got my first reptile, an ackie monitor monitor. I ended up loving her so much I got 4 more! Today my life revolves around reptiles. I have over a dozen monitors across 4 different species that I keep and responsibly breed, a few boas that are just pets and 1 little Chinese cave gecko. I wouldn't have any of my amazing reptiles or my business and I never would have even discovered my passion without these videos.

May I ask why they aren't for you? I love reptiles, but am still doubting whether I just have a fascination or whether I could actually keep one as a pet
@42ZaphodB427 ай бұрын
@@MissLessie Well, they are different from social animals. You can't interact with many of them the way that you are used to with birds or mammals and you'll often times have to handle insects as feeders. Those are big nonos for a lot of people. I personally hates crickets (the disgusting smell and noise) and started breeding my own dubia roaches, that made life a lot easier. I suggest searching for a reptile zoo or visiting something like clints reptile room, where you can touch and handle snakes and lizards. You'll get a feel for them there.
@pencilpauli94427 ай бұрын
@@MissLessie Sure. The main issue is that I have ME/CFS, and as a result can be hypersensitive to touch. I also get violent involuntary shaking. Wouldn't do the reptile much good if they were being held, or on me. I don't have the space for a larger reptile so a gecko would be ideal and I wouldn't want to risk their safety. I have some fish now, so at least I have some animals in the house to look after.

I love all the educational videos on phylogeny and such, but these pet reviews have been so useful throughout my very recent foray into exotic pets. Maybe the format could evolve a bit and do more individual dives into the pet, its environment, its habits, etc on top of the 5 criteria? Like a 3-5 minute profile of the animal. I know there are a few of these where Clint really dives into some of the animals at the start of the video (because you can tell he is really excited for that animal) and those were very interesting videos that I almost forgot were pet reviews until the numbers started, lol. This way it's meeting some of what makes your other videos so well watched while still fulfilling the pet review.

All of Clint's content is fun and educational. But let's face it: the pet review videos are why this channel is truly great. And the reptile reviews are simply the best. I personally only have one pet reptile (a hognose snake) but these videos pull me in. If I'm on a road trip by myself I will sometimes listen to the playlist of the pet reviews. I guess the videos feel aspirational. I hear about an animal and my mind dreams of what it would be like to have a ton of pet reptiles and how that specific pet would fit in with this dream collection. I do plan to get a few more reptiles and you can bet that these videos play a huge roll in that.

I don’t know where I would be without the pet reviews, and especially the reptile reviews. I discovered your channel back in March 2021 before I had any “exotics” outside of tropical fish. (The tongue-in-cheek review of Blacktip Reef Sharks is what drew me in btw). I spent hours going through the library of videos during a spring break road trip and got my first hognose snake in the fall. Since then, my herp collection has grown with a pink-tongue skink, emerald tree skinks, boa constrictor, woma python, and dart frogs. The vinegaroon, greenbottle blue tarantula, and assassin bug videos also kickstarted a modest collection of invertebrates. There is a slew of “bucket list” reptiles I never would have considered before watching their respective videos. The newer videos, especially the phylogenies, are still some of my favorites to put on while at work. However, the pet reviews are an invaluable resource for hobbyists looking for a starting point in their research. Maybe some pet reviews could be of genuses or subfamilies to avoid redundancy? Please continue making them, even if only on occasion. (PS, still waiting for the woma/blackheaded python review and an amphibian phylogeny!)

My favorite thing about Clint's Reptiles is the best pet videos!

Your reviews are 1. How i first saw you 2. How i fell in love with reptiles 3. How i shared that love with my 2 boys 4. How and why I got all 8 of my reptiles. Even if you do shut it down, i appreciate the knowledge and time with my boys watching. But please don't, and if the next one could be smooth/rough green snakes that'd be awesome! Thanks again Clint

I’ve been toying with the idea of becoming a patron on your Patreon for a while now, and this finally convinced me. I love these videos! And while I also enjoy all of your videos, these are my favorite by a long shot.

I was a little disappointed that it wasn't mentioned that all of the cave gecko species in the video are suffering significant declines in their wild population due to overcollection with some facing extinction.
