Two things here: 1) start escorting with F-18F Block 3 & EA-18G Growler. The F-18F is the 2 seat version, which allows the pilot to focus on flying & the back seater handles RADAR, Comms & Weapons etc. The EA-18G is the 2 seat electronic warfare version. The Growler can jam, overwhelm etc the Chinese fighter's well pretty much everything. An alternative would be to start putting AIM-9X missiles on the P-8 (it's already got rails for the Harp

We've seen this type of activity before with the Soviet pilots, doing intimidation runs on US surveillance aircraft during the Cold War, even to this day- unprofessional conduct. Then outta nowhere an F-22 sneaks up on them, and they bug out running for home. China is trying their very best to be the B1G dawg in the area- forcing their influence on the many countries in the region. However- the Chinese military is not combat ready- nor are their weapon systems. They have not been involved in a real conflict since the Korean War. If the Soviet war machine is suffering so many loses against Ukraine- the Chinese won't be far behind. Not many nations can fight a 24/7/365 conflict- these days because they haven't been in one. The US on the other hand has vast experience with the total concept. This reminds me of another Far Eastern nation- who tried the same tactics and influence on their neighbors back in the day. Empire of Japan in the 1930's. Then they F'd with the wrong country by attacking us before declaring hostilities between our two countries- and look how that idea turned out for them in the end.
