I dated a Chinese girl and she asked me if I wanted to date her exclusively after three weeks? I said that I did. She then asked me where I thought the relationship was going? I was already in love with her and told her that I intended to ask her to marry me later in the year. She told me that she would say yes if I did. That was almost 40 years ago and we're stlll married.

Chinese hate to 'lose face' more than other groups of people in the world. When you 'dumped' this Chinese girl, it actually made her feel ashamed more than you realized and she couldn't 'face' her family (aka parents), friends, neighbors and pets..., especially if she thought you were such a 'good catch'. I am a Jamaican man and I am married to a woman from China. Every relationship is different, but these two kinda hit the nail on the head with how Chinese women are and how they view relationships. My wife moved to the US from china because her family put lots of pressure on her to marry a wealthy Asian man when she was barely 19! She saw how that life choice to marry a rich man landed her mother into a horrible living situation Her mother became almost a slave to her father because he made all the money!!! She would have to ask him for money to go anywhere or do anything and then give a large explanation for everything she did. Because of this, my wife is fiercely independent and strives to earn her own money and handle things on her own. She also does the cute housewife thing and cleans, does stuff around the house. Sometimes I come home and there is fresh fruit salad cut up for me or a nice lunch made for me when I leave for work! its nice to know that she appreciates me so much! I do my best to be mindful to return the favors and do little things to let her know i'm thinking and caring for her. My wife and I got involved with each other in college and right away we moved in with each other because both our living situations at the time were horrible and it just made financial sense to move in. We dated for about a year before we got married... I was terrified to marry her because you hear the horror stories about people changing after getting married or women who spend more money then the man can earn and build up insane debt for the family or they get super jealous and crazy... We have been married for 5 years and it was the best choice I ever made... I married young and sacrificed a lot of partying and missed opportunities with other women, but because we fit well together we were serious from a young age we started laying a strong foundation for our future much faster then most our age... We were serious while my peers were still dating their on and off again Ex's for the 5th time, Getting caught cheating or cheating on their partners , Tons of Drama and wasting money on dates and gifts and just silly stuff young people waste money on. My wife and I Pinched pennies for three years and saved up money for a house after our third year of marriage. Then we started saving money for a business as soon as we signed off on our house. I am now 30 years old, I own two businesses I have my own beautiful home and the mortgage on my house is less then our old one bedroom apartment. If i had wasted my time dating and fooling around I prob would have ended up broke but with a few more notches under my belt from fucking drunk girls in NYC! If you find a Chinese woman who seems loving, trusting, makes her own money and manages her money well , not super jealous and controlling (watch for the subtle hints when you date!) THEN MARRY HER....good women are hard to find in America these days. As my wife says "these bitches (yes...bitches... I love her! HAHA) are out here looking for a millionaire price who will get bored with them... I found a good man and I give him what he needs and turn him into a king"

I married a Filipina who was born and raised there, and currently still living there, because I found their approach to relationship and marriage to be more serious than the women in general here in Canada. That isn't to say all Filipinas make good wives, as there are other factors involved, but of the ones I've chatted with and met, they were far ahead of what I've dealt with here. Cultural upbringing, as well as parental upbringing, makes a huge difference. I had never really given marriage any serious thought with the women I've dated here. Any remote thought of it was a turn off. Yet, with this Filipina, I had no reservations. "Let's do this".

Sensitive plants are amazing. For anyone who's interested, the folding works by responding to touch at the nodes and internodes by releasing a large amount of potassium ions and therefore by osmosis the limb, or leaflet loses turgor pressure and then the limb droops and the leaves fold inwards.

I beg to differ, I'm mixed (between irish-carribean) and my brother looks a lot like my dad and although I don't much, I share the majority of his mannerisms. All that 'genetic legacy' bullshit isn't a thing - all humans are mixes of different races. I'm assuming you're American, a country a couple hundred years old, so you're probably a mix of every european country, a slave and/or a native somewhere in you're lineage too so don't act like the other race taints you're genetic legacy. If anything it makes it stronger.
@Jupiter__001_7 жыл бұрын
ThatsSoCailan You're not wrong. However, it is still sad to see one's genes getting washed out (white genes tend to be recessive, e.g. blue/green/grey eyes or blonde/brown hair), but at the very least they have a chance to resurface again, i.e. by a mixed child marrying another mixed child (1 in 4 for appearance-level attributes, e.g. hair and eyes). The genetic legacy is still there, even if it is hidden beneath the surface.

There are women in the West who expect marriage in their 20s as well, and don’t want to “try it on” with a lot of dating men either and want marriage, too. We get heartbroken too. Not just Chinese ladies. It’s too bad this is what men think western women are like and we get thrown to the curb.

Don't be fooled into thinking men are evil. There are men out there who want the same traditional wants anyone else does. Its human nature so don't get discouraged. Just stay away from men who don't have the balls to take life into their own hands FOR THEIR FAMILIES(not for themselves). Find a man who takes PRIDE in his family.
@AB-tf8rc6 жыл бұрын
if a man avoids the pitfalls of growing up in West why would he ever pick you? White women are a placeholder so that the boy can be born white man. White women are problematic, unattractive, feminists, and weight issues. If a man has taken upon himself to succeed in a society that hates him, and to learn Chinese, of course he wants the best possible woman. Think of his needs first - same reason why he avoids you. You aren't his priority. Only being hurt and making him believe you is your priority.
@p51mustang246 жыл бұрын
@Mike Epp01 It's not a eugenics issue. Feminists and shitty men arent the one having the kids. Most of the kids being born are to conservative / religous / rural, and other demographics that tend to favor traditionalism. But even in those groups the liberal attitudes towards gender roles have seeped in. They may not be radical feminists, but they are still affected.
@p51mustang246 жыл бұрын
Sadly women are now more miserable than ever (men too to a lesser extent). There are decent women out there, but for most of us we need to find a women who isn't a crazy feminist, and then try to make a mediocre situation work out for us. It's no secret why white men are getting women from asia. The problem is that even if they have children, the children end up getting raised in the western culture, and are not like their mother much of the time. Getting Asian women is just a temporary band-aid. It doesnt solve the problem of collapsing western culture.
@heavenlyevl13156 жыл бұрын
@Mike Epp01 you are a complete idiot. eugenics is to do with purifying the human race by taking out other races, qualities of the races and the mentally ill and inferior basically and nothing to do with feminism. feminism was to give rights and freedoms as a PERSON and although ppl see it as the right to work out of the home, that is not a constant of feminism, only the right to have a choice of it or not. most men totally misunderstand this and i think you all take it as some kind of threat to manhood when really it's just avoiding being chattel and owned like a damn pet, or object. let me ask men this, would you want to be owned with no rights or choices? and if you want a reason why women want rights look at p51mustang24 or enza denino who seem to think relationships are about a man being happy and a woman being a cowed thing or obect that has to act in a way that pleases them. lol feminism isn't the problem, the problem is ppl all being so selfish they want it all their way instead of it being equality and harmony. it seems normal to me that you would expect from a partner what you would be willing to do, be or sacrifice and not about one sex or person being happy while the other is only there to please them.

I’m glad I watched this video. It kind of gives me a better perspective on why my own wife was hesitant to be in a relationship with me when I asked her to be my gf. What I learned here is that in her mind I wasn’t simply asking her to be my gf. In a sense I was asking her to marry me. And what do you know, four months later we’re married. That was 4.5 years ago and things are going great. We plan on having kids next year.

Not so much my wife, but some of the guys I know with Chinese GF's say they are extremely possessive. She gets mad if he isn't constantly texting her, doesn't immediately answer her texts or if he decides to go out after work for a drink with the guys, doesn't immediately text her to see if she has already made plans for the evening. On clothing, my wife after living in Texas and getting her US citizenship, adopted the American casual/functional way of dressing. Her Chinese GF's, sisters and mother all complain that she doesn't dress up. One time up in her home city of Yanji, Jilin, we got into a taxi, she was wearing jeans, athletic shoes and an expensive long sleeved pink and brown striped Tommy Hilfiger polo shirt. The driver said to her, "You dress like an American." When she replied she was an American, the driver replied "Bulls#!t, your Chinese, you should dress like a Chinese. After that, My wife basically called him an idiot, told him to F-off, and that we were getting another taxi.
@happyjoyjoy93798 жыл бұрын
Carl Sharp Yep Americans are very casually dressed for the most part. In the Bay Area it is hard to tell the difference between a billionaire and a homeless guy. Even the CEO of facebook wears hoodies to meetings. I like to dress casually/comfortably myself, not trashy but not in a tux.
@MrGrimm13378 жыл бұрын
She gets mad if he isn't constantly texting her - that's actually because Chinese men keep their gfs on a short leash and if you're not constantly texting her - means you don't care. I mean, the Chinese men "train" the Chinese girls to respond to that. They couldn't tell them that they're asking them where they are and what are they doing every 5 minutes out of their insecurity - they just tell them "It's because I love you". And Chinese women buy that line hook and sinker. So then when you aren't like that - they think it's something wrong. Just like when you have sex with a Chinese prostitute... you take your time instead of finishing after 3 minutes like your average Chinese. She thinks maybe she's doing something wrong, starts apologizing or getting mad that you're a "difficult customer" who paid for 1 hour... and yet expects more than 3 minutes of sex xD

If Chinese girls weren't prettier, would western men still prefer them? Does it really come down to femininity and being a good wife? Also, I'll get hate for this but if you work full time and your wife works full time, then chores should be somewhat equal no? Comparing a U.S. woman to a Chinese woman. I was married to a white woman from So. California . She would never assist with any household chores ! Never ! Now I have a 54 y/o girlfriend from So. China . And it's winter here in Ohio . I wake up at 7 A.M. and she is no where to be found in the house. Well , where the hell is she ? I finally do find her. The temperature is 5 degrees outside and she is outside with a snow shovel , shoveling snow from the driveway ! And she does not even have any good winter footwear. In the mean time my ex wife is still too lazy to even buy curtains for the windows. She would have bitched if I had purchased window curtains but is too lazy to do it herself. Luce is outside on a pretty cold morning shoveling snow without even so much as a hint from me that she should do so ! I think that says it all !!
@johnsinclair46217 жыл бұрын
Yeah it says that you were married to a lazy white woman and that you are now married to a deligent chinese woman. It also says that you are either too poor or too cheap to buy your wife any good winter footwear. If the first is true I a truly sorry. If it is the second you should be a better husband
@donaldmiller86297 жыл бұрын
John Sinclair , Actually I was married to two white women like that . After two strikes I did not try for a third one ! As for Luce and her footwear , we have only been together for two months and I certainly did not expect her to be out shoveling snow ! At most I expected going out from the house into the truck and from the truck directly into the front door of a shopping mall. And she does have proper winter boots now.

It was great fun renting a 125 and traveling around the countries. I bought a couple of cheap backpacks from a market along with a needle and fishing line and made a saddlebag out of them to carry my and the girlfriend's stuff. My fiancee's white, though everytime I'm asked (and a lot always initially assumes Asian), I always start with describing her as half British, a quarter Italian, and a quarter German, only to wait for the reaction of realizing that my fiancee is white to sink in. I get treated differently soon after, in some ways better than the normal looks I'd get, where people starts smiling and show their interest on me and my fiancee. I will admit, consciously or not, I have succumbed to using this to elevate some of my social status and social standing with friends from the military/business as well as family settings. Not academia, though, since whether a person is of any socially constructed race, they look at people through the lens of intellect, knowledge, and contribution to research rather than some superficial pigmentation of the skin. I digress, my fiancee obtained a masters degree before I even completed my bachelor's degree, and have started teaching before I got into grad school. Whenever asked, the Asian side of the family would find it absurd and just can't understand that two people of different social status/education level can fall in love. I'm certain I will obtain my Ph.D. eventually, but to them, having a girlfriend/fiancee that has gone 'further' in life than you as a man is almost unacceptable. Just thought I'd share my two cent on the opposite side of the spectrum relative to this video. And, hey, I love playing with shy grass whenever I'm in Taiwan, too! It's just so awesome seeing the leaves contract!

I'm Asian-American raised in the states, I wish men who approach me always have good intentions. I don't settle nor have casual liaisons, I would rather be single and focus on achieving career goals, earn enough money to purchase what I want, like my dream car and my own house. Although my family is from the S. Pacific, my parents never emphasized marriage and children as a must, higher education was a given and so is independence. I believe that they have a progressive attitude because they are educated professionals (physician and engineer) and so were my grandparents (scientists and business owners). So many couples are miserable because they don't see eye to eye or the relationship is dysfunctional but it's sad when they continue to stick together. Life is too short!

I lived in Asian for 5 years and in various Asian countries and this habit/ attitude that you described about Chinese girls is very quite similar in other Asian or SE Asian countries. Long story short, find a relationship that works for you: if you want to live with gender roles, find a partner who does, if you want a partner with equal responsibilities, find a partner who does. As long as it works for the couple, that's what matters :). I like you for being straight about your own opinions. I am not built to be a housewife, and instead have a loving partner who wants to share responsibilities, but I know that some women and men do like that traditional household. As long as it's communicated from the get go, it's all good.

The reason the girls take casual relationships very seriously is because in most Asian cultures, sex outside of marriage is looked poorly upon. If their family knew they were doing it, it would cause a lot of dishonor to everybody. The fact that the girls are willing to have sex with you after a few dates, is them taking a HUGE leap of faith and risk, going against their culture expectations and upbringing. They expect you to take it seriously in return. Though obviously you get the odd new generation or more liberal types who don't feel this way, but the vast majority will.

This must be life as it is just INSIDE China, I live in Vancouver and I haven't heard of Chinese girls cooking dinner for any guys, they all seem to want to be taken out for very expensive dinners themselves...

TheSpritz0 Not to bash Canada or anything, but a lot of the corrupt rich chinese families that everyone HATES in China end up moving to Canada and dumping a bunch of money into real estate to launder their dirty money. Canada gives them free citizenship (or visa) to foreigners who invest a lot in the country. Very unfair and corrupt policy. Most of the Chinese people in Canada are the outcast rich people from Shanghai etc. Its a shame😩
@dylanforbes16768 жыл бұрын
TheSpritz0 - no difference in China. Chinese women are all about money, they don't marry for love, they marry for money and security... So materialistic and shallow, better off steering clear.

I'm sure it is the reality of the situation, as interpol has a list of people that China wants returned for crimes, etc... and Canada won't do it, as they say that China's penal system is inhumanitarian.

As for not sharing the basic chores with a partner, that is on you as an individual and by just saying that of course it would be nice to have an easy life. Yet that my friend is not what life is about. I remember as a boy how I was used to wash up the dishes, clean shoes, take the rubbish out and basically do my part for the family I loved. Yet as a boy way back in the 50s I also watched my father do nothing around the house to help my mother out. I knew exactly how she must have felt. So guys, if you want to live with your head stuck in a newspaper and ignore helping your partner, to show her a little joy or at least work things out together, then you will miss out on what life has truly got to offer. There is nothing more rewarding, than being able to both share and give to the one your with. Anything below that and I would pity the woman that gets stuck with you! Enjoyed the rest though, apart from when your riding too fast into what looked like private areas! Maybe I was shocked that you went into certain areas, it looked so private.

Stephen Nicholas traffic laws in china are usually ignored haha. When I was living in china, motorcycles would generally go on any side of the road, or even go on the sidewalks. Traffic is very uniform and regulated in the west.

Your dad didn't help your mom because he worked his ass off probably as do most men in situations like that. You think cleaning a house is hard? You think men who work to keep their families in a house and fed have an "easy life" just because they don't take out the garbage?

My friend recently flew to China for a couple weeks to get married, then back to UK alone. She paid for everything, which sounds unusual from what I've seen on a number of these videos. Here in Scotland over the past 5 or 6 years I've dated quite a number of Chinese women, gained a lot of insights, and after watching this it has me thinking about the different circumstances and their varied attitudes. In fact, each encounter is a story in itself.

In America as recent as the 80s/90s it was quite common for people to get married in their early 20s.

vh9network fun fact, In the book Wealth of Nations, which was published before the revolutionary war, the author even mentioned that people in the "American Colonies" got married much earlier, 18-20 range while people in England got married five to ten years later. Crazy hu?

Great video guys. I remember when I was hiking up Tai Shan last year. I'm there in hiking boots, shorts and t-shirt, sweating my balls off going up this mountain and there are these Chinese women wearing sexy, short dresses and high heel shoes like they're ready for a night on the town, just strolling up like it's no problem. Very different from western chicks!

Thanks you guys so much. I'm dating a girl from guizhou and your comments are really helpful. One thing still bothers me though. I noticed that she really does not often express her love on a daily basis. Like I'm the one who's always asking how she's doing, or taking the initiative for almost everything. That's a big change for me compared to european girls who are much more caring and "lovey-dovey" on a regular basis. It's been 8 months now and I kind of got used to it. Anyways, I know she actually does love and care about me. But I was just wondering if this is something normal for chinese girls. Is it?
@jacobrodgers27009 жыл бұрын
+Yamapopi My Chinese girlfriend is like this. And I tend to be more of an emotional, lovey guy, so it was unexpected, and a bit hard to get used to. Basically, in Chinese culture, love is more in actions than in words. My girlfriend has said that it sometimes feels awkward to say "I love you" just because it can feel cheap for her to say it.
@laowhy869 жыл бұрын
+Yamapopi that sounds pretty much spot on for a huge majority. of course there are exceptions, but there are quite a few girls that take a more pragmatic approach to love
@MrDeathIncorporated9 жыл бұрын
Not all girls are the same in any place, so yeah, my Chinese wife is way more lovey than the average girl, always wanting me to say I love her and stuff like this. I like it, but it wasn't by my initiative that we do this kind of stuff. Your girl is more reserved emotionally and that's ok.

Girls here wear trousers more during winter. I wonder how much wearing skirts and miniskirts has to do with the temperatures rather than sex appeal and event appropriacy.

+Kian Mehrabi (The Beard) Traditionally, Chinese women did not wear skirts or dresses... That started to change ~1980, but many women haven't really adapted. And, yes, that is true of southern China as well. My wife has the thinnest blood of any woman I've been with, and she gets uncomfortably cold when the temperature drops below 77 F = 25 C The younger women are wearing more skirts, but that is not the fastest cultural change. Also, more commonly, the women get hung up on modesty and acting "age appropriate" and you'll find 40 somethings dressing like they are in their 70s... happens over here among the Chinese immigrants as well. The 1.5 generation - immigrated as young kids - tend to go native... And, in China proper, the fashionable city girls seem to all read the same fashion articles, to the point where their outfits are almost uniform in style, although the colors can vary... I remember a couple of years ago when the fashion was short-shorts with black pantyhose... you could spot the gals who weren't quite clued in, because their pantyhose had the heavier panty part - and it would show below the hems of the shorts...

ya, i'm an american and my mom and a lot of the people who were born in the same era have issues going out without dressing up, it is a big deal to not do so. honestly i'd say it is a drawback instead of a plus for a wife. i think there might be a generational thing that plays into the differences, what is normal in one generation is not so normal in another, in addition to the whole region/country thing.
@kattykleo85798 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure much has changed. I'm American, too, still in my twenties, and I dread to be caught in public without make up and a decent outfit. And most girls I've known have felt the same, many spending hours getting ready every day. Just because we go to the grocery store in a sweatshirt once in a while and aren't wearing skirts every day doesn't mean much. The average American woman still puts a LOT of effort into her appearance and feels guilty if she doesn't. Men just have no clue how much time and money we spend on cosmetics, hair products, styling, manicures/pedicures, moisturizers, jewelry, perfume, clothes, lingerie, purses, shoes, etc., etc.
@jamoecw8 жыл бұрын
katty kleo it has changed, my mom when working on a renovation used to bring a change of clothes so she could do herself up somewhat when she went to the hardware store to pick up some extra stuff (there is always something). when (and where) she grew up women only left the house to get groceries and pick up the kids and such, and they always dressed up quite a bit before doing so, and if something came up last minute it was generally the man of the house or the kids that went out and took care of it. she isn't big on being just a housewife, but she it took cancer to kick her habits of never leaving the house without doing herself up, now she even makes sure to dress somewhat decent (down to 15 minutes minimum, or a 5 minute change of clothes if doing construction).
@kattykleo85798 жыл бұрын
jamoecw I guess it has changed somewhat. Most women don't feel quite that constrained anymore. Sorry about your mom's struggle with cancer. I hope she's doing better.
@jamoecw8 жыл бұрын
katty kleo she's doing much better, and it helped give her some perspective so she isn't so constrained and stressed out anymore, so she's better than before in my opinion.

The fact of getting married early is the same as in Russia, I am engaged with a wonderful fantastic Russian woman and the stigmatism of not getting married before the age of 25 is a bad thing for a woman, and if they are not married by the age of 30 then something is wrong or the girl is considered a Spinster. It is really messed up for the ladies to have to live under such pressure.
@WafflingWillow8 жыл бұрын
Chinese girls seem to be conditioned to play the traditional feminine role and they might seem a little "crazy" after a breakup because of the urge from their family to marry, whereas western/american women don't really get that because of the advent of feminism. Not that either ideal is bad, but a relationship is about taking care of each other and especially if you're gonna have kids, someone has to stay home more often/totally and women are built for that, but it's not an exclusive role. In China, it seems to be emphasized on girls to take care of the house and cook for their man, while the man deals with gaining money and such. Western men, despite feminism, still are likened to pay for meals and such, but if the woman earns more, she would pay, obviously. Western women, especially feminists and New Age Feminists, tend to want to work equally with their man...and I guess come home to a cold house and cook when they get there? I don't think there's anything wrong with either - I mean, the latter seems kinda depressing - but it certainly is refreshing to hear about a man liking to be taken care of traditionally, as a woman would want to be as well because it fits. To see her in a dress and really liking it, that's really pleasant to know. In America, I'd definitely say that as a woman, I do often feel pressured that I need to work in order to please a partner, whereas I'd rather be home and take care of him and the house. Just something I like doing. I imagine most Americans would call it lazy but domestic chores is a job in it of itself.
