I live in Thailand, play on NA got 380+ Ping everyday. I don't even know how did I survive in pvp. But you know English is not my mothertounge languge and people calling me stupid when I don't get some of the words they told me to do in dungeons lol. But you get the idea when you play the game which use different languages you speak and write everyday. It's hard for some people you know? So I hope whoever gets to read this please calm the f down more when ppl ask stupid stuff over and over because they aren't good in English and don't understand the hard words. Thanks!

+Nevahr I was a total antisocial player who just liked to be around and help other people in game. never had a real guild. never wanted one. total loner playing this game on and off for 2 1/2 years. then my favorite farming area (around Viathan WP in Kessex) started filling up with new players about a month ago. and suddenly i'm getting party invites. so I start talking to these people. they're all Vietnamese, Thai, Philipino and the nicest human beings I've ever met in my life. fast forward a bit. i'm the only American and a leader in our guild and having the time of my life with my new friends. the language barrier isn't that big of a deal. it kinda makes things more interesting actually. yeah there are a lot of misunderstandings but they get easier to navigate all the time. if my fellow americans are giving you trouble i'm sorry. we're not all like that, I promise.

the community really has shown it's greatness since the game went f2p. I remember the second day after it went f2p seeing a veteran player handing out free 10 slot bags in The Grove to new players. that night I was in Brisban doing map completion on one of my 80s and this player asked for help with a hero point challenge in map chat and literally 10 of us were on it within seconds. I felt the funniest sense of pride when the player was amazed by this response in chat. I think it's the casual player appeal of this game. I think it attracts people who acknowledge and understand that we're all just wasting time and being entertained together. I mean there will always be assholes but I think this game tends to retain fewer of them. or maybe more of the nonassholes (but that's just my opinion).

The server you chose is Balthazar in Chinese if you were wondering. And some context for you, the reason why it ends with 8 is because the Chinese believe 8 means prosperity as 8 sounds like prosperity in Chinese. The icon with the number 5 is daily achievements.

Hi, great video and so fun. Just wanna translate something while char selection. The sever with parentheses are the locations that served for some far regions eg Alaska in the US. Then about right up corner selection, there are two choices. The shorter one means show all server regions and the only one means that there is only on region available. FYI: the Internet providers in China are only three companies, generally speaking. They cover the Chinese map by northern southern and the other area. It is very important to choose the correct server corresponding with your IPS, otherwise it's likely to have a 200-300ms network delay. And thank you for making the video !

I don't live in China, so I'm not sure of its English name, but directly translated, it's "Telecomms District 1". 1 character at the childhood step of character creation: That one character means "I" as in "I ____" ->> I was a street urchin / I grew up with the townsfolk / I was raised among nobility Gem Store pricing ending in "8": 8 is an auspicious number to the Chinese. What is with the "yellow-washing" of all the characters on the character creation screen? How are they going to differentiate Canthans from Tyrians this way? When GW2 finally gets to Cantha, are ArenaNet going to make Canthans look Caucasian then? Geez.... I work as a translator for a China-based MMO developer, VIP programs, Pay-to-win, endless grinds, are par for course in the Chinese gaming culture. I came to GW2 precisely to escape this hamster-in-a-wheel mindset. Definitely won't be trying Chinese GW2 for sure since ArenaNet, instead of trying to inspire the Chinese to a more sophisticated way of gaming, is pandering to their race to the bottom.

Watching WP stumble his way through the Chinese client is fun. I am not fluent, but I forget how different Chinese looks to other people sometimes. I really appreciate this video on multiple levels because of that. The "one symbol" at 03:28 is just the character for I - pronounced Wo with tone 3 (falling then rising). The music is different. Sounds like an piano playing "fear not this night." I get those ping issues when playing on NA servers in China sometimes. I'd guess they end on 8 because 8 is a lucky number. 4 is an unlucky number, by comparison. The Asura at 18:00 said "Hello," and then he said "What?" The Z is pronounced like Zulu or Zero. Ai is pronounced like the word "eye." Z + eye = Zai Jian is "Gee" (like Gee Whiz, or the letter G) + "in." Gee + in. It sounds similar to Gin. Pronounce them with a falling tone. You can simulate this by ending sharply, like when you'd say "NO!" So you'd say "Zai Jian" like you would say "NO! NO!" - both with a falling tone. Hope this was somewhat helpful.

From my elementary knowledge of Japanese, which uses Chinese characters, I can actually read the characters at 13:25! The left-most character 女 means "female" and the middle character 王 means "king." A female king is obviously a queen. Finally, 谷 means "valley" or "vale" or "dale" or any other synonym of the geographical landform. Collectively they translate to "Queen's dale," which English GW2 players will better recognize when rendered "Queensdale." In Japanese, that would be pronounced "jo oh tani" (that might be wrong, it's only an elementary grasp of the language after all). In Chinese? I haven't got a clue, unfortunately! Throwing it into google gives: "nǚwáng gǔ" but I don't even know if that's Cantonese or Mandarin.

14:50 all those numbers end on 8 because in Chinese culture the word for "eight" (八 Pinyin: bā) sounds similar to the word which means "prosper" or "wealth". It has the meaning of success. It's a psychological thing just like in the United States our prices end on 9 because it makes it seem like we're getting a better deal ($9.99 versus $10)

I was under the impression that the grind wasn't higher than NA/EU until after level 20 or so, the NPE flattening out the leveling curve below level 20 (i thought) was the same as it was for the Chinese client.
