Something else that's crucial to remember is that a lot of converts will find themselves surrounded with love when they convert but then after some time when eid comes along, if they haven't established good connection with their brothers or sisters then they'll find themselves alone on these holidays since they are usually the only Muslim in their household and have nobody to celebrate it with. And for that reason it is very important that we make sure to always stay in touch with our new brothers and sisters of Islam.

@@KaiEmblem It's not rubbish. Not everyone has good social skills and is outgoing, so that's where we can reach out to those shy brothers/sisters and invite them to our social gatherings.

In my experience the best remedy for this is marriage to a Muslimah however more needs to be done to absorb and root them in the deen cause in my ghetto that lack eventually sees many new converts leave the fold sometimes even before they make it to Eid Ul-Fitr

As a revert I really appreciated this episode. Alhamdulillah I had my shahada certified at Al Azhar and on the certificate it has a place for a new name and I kept mine. Maybe one day I'll change it, but it's nice to see a representation of people going through the same things and faced with the same choices I am

Mashallah may Allah bless you brother and never feel pressured by anyone! but if you ever started considering a muslim name, I suggest "luqman", so this way your name can always stay as Luke for short. Luqman is the name of a wise man whom Allah swt mentioned in the quran and named a chapter after him "Chapter 31: Surat Luqman"

@@kartish7 there is no such thing as a Muslim name the whole concept is incorrect. I think it’s rude to tell someone change your name when it doesn’t mean anything bad. If he wants to name himself after a great figure in Islam like luqmaan that should be their decision but this is a grown man and I think it’s disrespectful to tell someone to change their name

The day I took my Shahada, a brother named Hassan said to me "Learn about Islam, do your best to practice the Deen, but don't make yourself crazy over it. The Deen is in the heart." That was almost 30 years ago. Since then, I've seen nothing to prove he was wrong.

This was much needed, Looking at many revert videos all wearing whatever the “ Uncles “ give them, kinda being forced to look in certain ways and adopt some cultural habits that are irrelevant to them is Sad. Why are they being stripped of their Identity, names , culture, clothes, as long as they are not against Islam ? That alone is a super drastic change that would make some families and friends reject them or give them a hard time when they revert.

A good message and I appreciate it. I knew a few reverts, and I'm glad that the person who helped them on their journey didn't pressure her into doing everything. She was slowly taught, and not pressured to wear the hijab. I feel like people giving the "wrong advice" can let reverts, who might suffer from loneliness due to abandonment will get set back, and decide Islam isn't for them. There was this girl who wasn't Muslim in my old high school, I once saw her wear the hijab and was secretly really proud of her. I didn't know her, and she was a year younger than I was. Though, a few weeks ago I saw her at the bus station, and she no longer wore it. I wondered what happened, and if she was guided wrong. I pray for her, and inshallah, she is guided onto the straight path. Ameen.

SubhanAllah, I came across this video and at first thought there’s something wrong. All the characters/actors looked amateurish and unbelievable with their over the top acting. As I continued watching the whole thing, then it dawned on me that this video is actually teaching us, the Muslims in what we do wrong although meaning well. It’s a self reflection and the gentleman who played the Professor’s part is totally believable and he got the message through. I am a retired Director of one of the largest Mosques in Los Angeles County and know first hand about these things. I hope Masaajid and Muslims throughout will watch and get the benefit out of this vlog. JazakAllahKhair and Happy Ramadan 2023.

It was narrated that Abu Umaamah radiyallahu anhu said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi immediately after each prescribed prayer, there will be nothing standing between him and his entering Paradise except death." 2. Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He who says, "Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi' (Glory and praise be to Allah) one hundred times a day, his sins will be obliterated even if they are equal to the extent of the foam of the sea. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) 3. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet said:“There are two statements that are light on the tongue, heavy on the scales, and beloved to the Most Merciful: Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi, Subhanallahil Azeem (Glory and praise be to Allah, Glorified is Allah, the Most Great.)” (Al-Bukhari) 4. Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: He who repeats after every prayer: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) thirty-three times, Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah) thirty-three times, Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) thirty-three times; and completes the hundred with: La ilaha illallahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa ‘ala kulli shai'in qadir (There is no true god except Allah. He is One and He has no partner. His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is Omnipotent) Will have all his sins pardoned even if they may be as large as the foam on the surface of the sea." (Muslim) 5. Zaid ibn Harithah narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whosoever says: 'Astaghfirullaha al-'Azeem al-ladhi la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum wa atubu illayh (I ask forgiveness of Allah, the Magnificent, than Whom there is no deity, the Living, the Sustainer of existence, and I turn to Him in repentance,) his sins will be forgiven even if he should have run away from the battlefield (while he was engaged in fighting for the Cause of Allah, which is a grave sin in Islam). (Abu Dawud and authenticated by Al-Albani) 6. The Prophet peace be upon him said "Whosoever recites Durood Sharief on me 10 times in the morning and evening, I will intercede for him on the day of Qiyamah." (TIBRANI) 7.Whoever reads Surah Ikhlas ten times, Allah will build a palace for him in Paradise. 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) exclaimed, "If that's the case, then we will increase in our palaces!" The Prophet ? (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) responded, "Allah is better and greater (in reward)." [Ahmad] 8. Whoever reads Surat al-Kahf on Friday, it wil act as a light/protection for him from one Friday to the next. (Bayhaqi) 9. Whoever performs their ablution carefully and then affirms (their faith by testifying): "Ash-hadu Al-laa ilaha Ill-lallahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu wa ashadhu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasuluhu; Allahumma-ja'Ini min at-tawaabeena waj-a'Ini minal-mutatahireen": 1 testify that there is no true deity except Allah Alone, Who has no partners, and that Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam is His slave and Messenger; O Allah, make me from those who repent and purify themselves' - the eight gates of Jannah are opened for him so he may enter through whichever of these gates he desires.[Tirmidhi] 10. Whoever says: "Radheetu billahi Rabba, wa bil Islaami Deena, wa bi Muhammadin sall-Allahu 'alayhi wa sallama Nabiyyan" - I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, and with Islam as my Religion, and with Muhammad as my Prophet, Paradise would be (made) mandatory for him. [Abu Dawud] 11. Whoever asks Allah for Paradise three times (Allahumma inni as'aluk al-Jannah), then Paradise will say: "0 Allah! Enter him into Paradise!" And whoever seeks protection with Allah (Allahumma ajirni min an-Nar), the Fire will say: "O Allah! Protect him from the Fire!" [TIRMIDHI] 12.Whoever is easy-going, gentle and kind, Allah will make the fire forbidden for him. [Hakim] 13. In Paradise there are rooms whose outside can be seen from the inside and the inside can be seen from the outside. Allah has prepared them for those who feed the poor, who are gentle in speech, who fast regularly and who pray at night when (other) people are asleep. [Ahmad] 14. Narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "There is a soorah of the Qur'an, with thirty verses, that interceded for a man until he was forgiven; it is 'Soorah Tabaarak Alladhi bi yadihi'l-mulk (Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion) Read Surah Al-Mulk 67:1 Reference :Sunan Abi Dawud 1400 15.Recite Surah al ikhlas (kulhu wallahu ahad) after each prayer and make it a habit. If you read Surah al Ikhlas 3 times, it's reward is equivalent to reading the Quran once. In Ramadan this is multiplied by 70, so if you read it 3 times after eve ry salah you would receive the reward of reading the Quran 350 times in a day In Shaa Allah If you pass this on, It is Sadaqatul Jaria. (meaning you keep on getting rewarded for it, every time someone acts upon it even when you have died, until the day of judgement).

As a first generation Muslim, can I just say, it can be hurtful, or at best patronizing, when community members ask us to change our name or give us Nicknames without our consent. That’s our identity, it is part of our history, it honours our parents and our roots. To request from us to erase that is very off putting. Coming to Islam already often requires radical changes and can at times create conflict within the family or social circles, and a name change can exacerbate bitterness or deepen the chasm. Please be mindful of how you treat first generation Muslims and be mindful that convert =\= new Muslim and treat us respectfully as you would someone from your own culture. Seems like this should be obvious but from experience, it isn’t.

This was a great video. I think many important points were brought up that are often forgotten. Far too many converts try to act like Arabs and there's really no need for it.

I'm glad I had older Muslim brothers there for me like this. The young ones almost ran me off. However, when I was alone with Allah, and my Quran, everything would just flow.
