Sturm's Japanese name is "ヘルボウズ", which transcribes to "Herubōzu". Apparently it's meant to translate to "Herr Böse", which is German for "Mr. Evil". Kinda fitting if you ask me hehe

While China can be a bit against Japanese culture, the European and American releases of Kanbei would have infuriated them even more, taking him from a samurai depiction to essentially a straight up Sino-Japanese war era officer look.

Hey Mangs I'm one of your fans, I'm from China and is now in Japan. Now, most GBA games, including Advanced Wars do not have a official translated version in Chinese, thus there isn't really one Chinese localized Kanbei. Nintendo claims that there WAS a Chinese localized version of AW on their online news page, but however the news claims it to be like, it is still not sold in China and will likely never be since the reboot is coming. If that leads to the conclusion that Chinese Kanbei isn't real, well I guess that's the deal. And also, Hell is NOT the Chinese localized name for Sturm, it comes from the name "Hell-Bouze" for Sturm in Japanese localized version, which means "monk from the hell" or a reference to a sea monster in Japanese folk tales.

Strategy-wise I think I would have done a lot of the same things you did, but also captured the two properties of the bottom (after getting control of the center) to slowly starve Sturm of income. The bomber/fighter blocking the bridge means it's safe to have an infantry slowly take both of those properties, which also makes it easier to push on Sturm's base. If you can block/capture the base (like you eventually did) the map is over.
