Pretty good repair job, you saved a decent machine for future use. And those welds don't look too bad, the most important thing about a weld is that it holds the metal together.

Thanks Mr C....... It's still working OK 5 years on split about a ton of logs round a friends house last Saturday with it... so perhaps my welding ain't too bad after all....painting it over always makes it look way better...! Cheers....Trevor

Nice series of videos on this. I think I’ll get one soon or a similar Chinesium splitter. It would be nice to see you rig something up to verify if this can produce anywhere near the advertised force. Not sure how you’d go about it. You can measure the bore easily enough. Don’t know how you could test how much pressure it can generate.

What kind of a seal or sealant did you use on the hydraulic cylinders end cap where the wing nut vent is??

Great job, I watched all of videos in series and I see you have all sorts of problems with splitter but not the one I have. Mine works OK and has pressure but rattles heavily. Probably I left oil inside for too long. Sound stayed with fresh oil. However I see that you can benefit from pedal like I did. Since I'm splitting by myself, I hated flying wood all over the place. Therefor I mounted pedal so i can press pedal with foot, leth hand is for valve control while right hand supports big chunks or I can make kindling very fast in large quantities. You have to be extra careful because obviously right hand can thet way end up in bad place but I find it less dangerous than axe.

Hello Tomislav.... You are so right about a foot Switch I have bought 2 from eBay for my and a friends splitters but have never got round to fitting them! you are correct about the safety side of things you need to be careful! Axe's well I have had a few injuries with them can't be any safer...! All the best...Trevor

@@jetblack11td Don't hesitate from mounting if you already bought pedals. It'll be a different world experience once you do it. It's fairly easy although I was confused after opening because it has dual switch. Mine is Scheppach while you have AlKo but I assume they are same from inside electric box. If you need images or help with wiring leave comment. I can send you images of mine as example.

I have one that the hydraulic pump squirts out fluid through the bolts. I tried putting silicon gasket maker and re tighten the bolts, but that didn't work either. ANY suggestions?
@jetblack11td6 жыл бұрын
Real Gagne Hello I used silicon gasket compound you could PTFE tape on the threads or thin copper washers you can buy mixed size kits on EBay very cheaply good luck.....Trev
@jetblack11td6 жыл бұрын
You could try Dowty seals under the bolt heads sreach for them on eBay cheap enought or try PTFE tape wound round to form a seal copper washers one again from eBay or local autoparts store...Cheers...Trev

Did you have to weld the end piece on also?
@jetblack11td11 ай бұрын
Hello Brian......Yes I did, when the side welds broke it pulled the end piece bending the ram which is a tube and snapping the weld on the end piece....Cheers....Trevor

Hello Pete.....Have you checked the hydraulic fluid level? No1 cause of problems ....
@petewiddowson11036 жыл бұрын
hydraulic fluid level ok seals have been done two big ones and two small ones and the small one on the pressure vale

@@petewiddowson1103I know this is an old comment but for anyone else theres also a valve housing with 5 seals that knocks through from the opposite side to the operating handle, possibly seals damaged. Remove operating handle, valve and retaining grub screw first then make note of which way up it comes out!

Where do you get parts for them. I have ls4t-370 electric china log splitter. It works but leaks and want to get seals and the switch box is breaking along with the switch is falling apart. So looking to fix it up to keep using it.
@jetblack11td5 жыл бұрын
Hello Kyle...Not sure where you are in the UK? I rang a fairly local to me place Nailsworth Garden machinery, which is in Gloucestershire ...they sell the ones branded the same as mine AL-KO... I would think things like seals will be pretty standard items most likely from companies that supply bearings etc surely going to be standard metric lipped seals. the button is also a standard 22mm unit eBay... make sure you get the right contacts N/O or N/C plastic boxes are on there too you may have to adapt something...for all the poorish build quality they are a great back saver... All the best ....Trevor

@@jetblack11td thanks for some info. I'm in the states florida to be exact. Some of the other cheaper electric ones look the same but have some different parts. It's blue in color 4 ton and I put model number in first post. It working but needs work bedore it fails. I bought it used I. This condition but figures I can clean up and fix to keep it going. Only paid $50 for it.

Hello Kyle well for 50 bucks you did OK .... Mine came for zero from my father...it's really a case of some creative engineering to keep them running ....the build quality at the materials are pretty poor ...but they really do save some work, does it get cold enough in Florida to burn logs in the winter?
@kylebacher80745 жыл бұрын
@@jetblack11td it does get cold enough here but I picked it up to use in mountains when we move. To get us started anyways if it keeps breaking or can't keep up I'll upgrade later. I fixed the electrical box and found the switch so I order. I'll still have to clean up and tear down to see what o-ring and gaskets are failing.
@jetblack11td5 жыл бұрын
Good Job mate... there are quite a few o-rings and seal etc on eBay...Trust me it gets more cold and wet enough here in the UK...still I'm off to California for a bit of a road Trip next month, hopefully visiting Death Valley don't think we'll be cold there!
