Nice work - looking forward to part 2. Any chance you could provide a link to the drive pulleys? Thanks!

Hi, I also fitted metal selector gears (bit more noisy) and angular contact bearings (best upgrade to do) also replaced the shaft so I could use a 4" chuck... along with many other upgrades including making a new banjo for the change gears. Might have to do my drive pulleys now!

Where did you get your parts?

I'm hearing that the metal gears + in the headstock is that they are VERY LOUD to the point of unpleasant and alarming. The issue with the plastic gears splitting is because the hole diameter to the shaft is undersize so you need to press them on hard, the Chinese mold needs to be changed or you gently sand out the hole bore diameter in .001" increments til you get a gentle slip-fit, and the gears will stop splitting and still run quiet compared to steel.

I will get a part 2 done. Unfortunately life is just so busy, but it'll appear at some point.

What size is the spindle bore on that lath? Looks a lot larger than most of the Chinese laths. Also what model is the lath? Thanks for the video well done.

Interesting John, look forward to pt2. What sort of repairs do you do on air rifles? Is it the two cheapy Chinese ones you’ve shown before

I tinker with Chinese air guns, making them shoot smoother and more quietly, which also brings a small power increase.

Cool, be sure to film any more tinkering with the rifles 👍 it was good to see your finished solar accumulator working out well too. You’ve got some interesting projects on the go

Have you deleted your Chinese air rifle tinkering videos John? Any updates on your projects?

I removed them for editing, as there wasn't much viewer appeal. I'll upload them again when the editing is finished. Unfortunately I've been tied up with boring house type stuff recently, but will resume my projects in 2021. Thanks for your subscription.
