Hello! I did put some good tuning parts on mine and overhauled the engine at the same time. I suspect the compression got a bit too high, because I could hardly kickstart it. I have years of experience so I felt that a bit strange. It was like kickstart a 600cc single cylinder bike! And it also dont run good, on load it starts to misfire. I suspect the stock ignition cant spark with too high compression. And now I got a tester and checked, it is 210psi. I guess putting double gaskets would get me down a bit and solve it, but it would be nice with input from another :) Btw, it is tested with electric starter, I had to use a car battery and jumper cables.

It sounds like you've done some significant modifications to your scooter, and the symptoms you're experiencing could indeed be related to the increased compression. Here are some insights and suggestions: High Compression: A compression of 210 psi is on the higher side for many scooter engines. High compression can lead to hard starting and can put additional stress on the starter motor and battery. Kickstarting Difficulty: The difficulty in kickstarting is a clear indication of the high compression. Adding double gaskets could indeed be a solution to reduce compression and make kickstarting easier. Misfiring under Load: Misfiring under load is a common symptom of ignition issues, and your suspicion about the stock ignition struggling with higher compression is valid. High compression can make it more challenging for the spark to ignite the air-fuel mixture effectively. Ignition Upgrade: Consider upgrading your ignition system to one that can handle higher compression. High-performance ignition systems with better spark control may help resolve the misfiring issue. Timing Adjustment: Check the ignition timing. If the timing is not adjusted correctly for the increased compression, it can lead to misfiring and poor performance. Make sure the ignition timing is set according to the specifications for your scooter. Cooling System: High compression can also result in increased heat generation. Ensure that your scooter's cooling system is functioning properly to prevent overheating issues. Carburetor Verify that the carburetor system is adjusted to accommodate the increased airflow associated with higher compression. It may require rejetting or adjusting the fuel injection parameters. Professional Advice: Given the substantial modifications you've made, consulting with a professional tuner or mechanic experienced with high-performance scooter modifications may provide valuable insights. They can help fine-tune your setup for optimal performance and reliability. Remember, any modifications to compression or other engine components should be approached with caution, and it's crucial to ensure that all systems work together harmoniously. If in doubt, seeking professional advice can save you time and potential issues down the road.

Thanks for the video. I have a brand new take out motor from a new scooter that was used as a parts bike at a shop. The motor had 150psi crashing i tight it works be enough. But it cranks with out even trying to run. Has great spark, and I put it into a previously that previously ran, but the piston was seized so it would shut off after running for a minute or two. The piston and cylinder wall clearly show its never ran before inspecting with a bore scope. What have you seen like this? Im hoping i find missing rings, or a head that wasn't torqued down properly. I did reset valve lash .003 and .005 now I get 120psi on my gauge. His gauge showed 150psi but that was with out a muffler. I'm thinking that's the difference between 150psi and 120psi.

Mine has about 190 psi. Thoughts? Furthermore I have a new problem, after changing the belt, and after installing a new NCY transmission set, and OKO carb, the scooter starts and idles however, when I give it gas it barely moves and won’t go over 5 mph even at wot, it just revs really loud. I then proceeded to replace all the new parts with the old and yet the problem persists. I’ve opened up the final gear area and all looks fine, and compression is at 190 psi so do you have any ideas that could help me out?

Hello Roland the problem should be at the variator weight or sometime could be the Stator magneto that is dirty with grease and is not producing clean and clear electricity. I hope this can help you Thank you for watching my video

Helpful tip so that you dont spend a ton of money on compression test, but you think that is the problem: Plug the spark plug hole with your thumb, and average person can hold up to 100PSI of pressure with their thumb, if it blows your finger away from the hole, or air passes between, that means you should have good compression

My moped not wanting to start now I'm getting good spark good compression enough fuel could a old or dirty carburetor cause this problem
@VirberelloScooterTips
@VirberelloScooterTips Жыл бұрын
Yes, an old or dirty carburetor could definitely cause problems with starting your moped. The carburetor is responsible for mixing air and fuel in the correct proportions before it enters the engine. If the carburetor is clogged or dirty, it may not be able to properly mix the air and fuel, which can lead to starting problems or poor performance. You might want to try cleaning your carburetor or having it cleaned by a professional to see if that solves the issue. It's also possible that there could be other issues causing the problem, so if cleaning the carburetor doesn't work, you may want to have a mechanic diagnose the problem.

Have you tried to blast the carb w/ a couple of shots of starting fluid into the intake to see if it starts? If so 1. Check all carb adjustments (air/fuel mixture screw, Idle screw) Try combinations 2. Check/Replace fuel filter Try 2. Do you have old unstable Gas in it 8+ months? Drain tank, blow out fuel line and use a new fuel filter add new 93 octane Let carb bowl fill up add 2 shots of starting fluid and Try to run for a few minutes " SF is used up" 3. Remove carb, inspect both jets, needle valve assembly, diaphragm and bowl and floats for varnishy gunk and clean. Basically clean everything. I some times use the CLR kitchen/bathroom product 4. Put back together and Try. GL Keep scooting 🛵💨

Hello my friend when you lose pressure the first easy thing to do is to check the valve clearance after that you will have to check the piston and the gaskets to see if something does not look good . Thank you for watching my video

The easy thing to do first is the valve clearance and hopefully that can fix the problem after that you can test it again and see but sometime if you have a bad or cheap compression tester that can give you a bad reading

@@VirberelloScooterTips thank you, its a KEIHIN carb and the screws are like butter they are braking from little force so i guess its not so reliable?

@@duke1259 Thats what I always do with that KEIHIN carb you can also try to place a large rubber band between the screw head and a screw driver or you can buy a screw extractor kit or you can make a flat cut on the screw head and unscrew with a flat screw driver
