Here's a Message to All My KZbin "HATERS" Out There Who Like To Spam My KZbin Videos with Negative Hateful Comments: "We're uploading great, fun, traditional, effective content that's purpose is to keep Traditional Chinese Martial Arts alive since Traditional Chinese Martial are currently dying! I have NEVER once advertised any of my videos! We have NEVER sponsored or put money toward any of our KZbin videos. All our views, subscribers, and followers have found us organically on their own and our analytics say we have a 20 "Like" to 1 "Dislike" ratio! That's pretty good in my opinion! That means for every 2,000 people who watch our videos and hit "LIKE" only about 100 hit "DISLIKE". :) We get over 50,000 video views a Day and add 300 New Subscribers everyday! We get TENS OF THOUSANDS of comments everyday on our videos and lessons here on KZbin! There is NO WAY I can read or respond to them all. I reserve about 1 hour each day to answer KZbin comments and I try to get to as many as I can! My wife Pam answers a couple hundred emails everyday from people who email us at www.JakeMace.com. If you want to post your own videos about me on your channel then DO IT! I LOVE IT! If they're positive then that's great! If they're negative then that's great too! Live your life! My best!" -Jake Mace :) KZbin.com/ShaolinCenter My Online School - www.JakeMace.com Gardening at KZbin.com/VeganAthlete

I would actually like that a lot, could you just go over some basic staff Kata in different techniques and talk about the differences in style? I want to get a broad overview and know the concepts behind different movements. Thanks for the offer! I appreciate the respect you have for the traditional forms, I haven't found any good resources that do an overview of the subtle differences between styles

Hey Jake, been loving your videos. I see people getting hung up on details like terminology and remaining true to style, and I have a lot of respect for people who want others to learn the right way. Jake mentioned that this is adapted from different styles, and it's true that it might be more correct to refer to Chinese's martial arts forms as something different than Kata. But this information is helpful right now to beginners, I don't think Jake wishes to insult any style or it's practitioners. By condensing many styles into an appealing routine and not worrying about technical vocabulary, Jake is able to help people jump right into what matters, which I would say is definitely in "the spirit" of martial arts. In a similar sense, you can always use the most accurate words to express yourself, but if you're talking to a child it doesn't matter what words you use if they don't understand. If anybody in the future notices something like this and wants to inform the world, I encourage you! I just ask that you include the information that is lacking or flawed so that people can keep what they learn in context, rather than just disregard the information completely, and this goes for life, not just KZbin videos. Have a good day everyone!

I practiced 棍 in my childhood and teen in a different style (probably not Shaolin). I used a heavier but more flexible one which feels really awesome once you are really familiar of how to swin them (舞棍). Maybe this lighter and more agile one is more practical in a close-quater combat, but to me it is a bit too stiff. You should try the other one if you love the power in those awesome swings like I do. Good vid friend, keep it going :)

Guys, seriously. If you don't like the video, then simply move on to something else. The fact still remains that no matter what language you use, the weapon does not care! The laws of physics that govern the movements don't care. As long as what he is doing is effective, what difference does it make? I understand about tradition and such, but if you have learned something from this, then be grateful for the lesson. I don't have a Shifu at the moment, so this has been most useful for me.

The majority of this looks like an Okinawan staff form, but mixed with some contemporary Wu Shu moves. I have never seen this particular form(with over 50 years experience in northern and southern kung fu styles and some okinawan karate). It is a nice beginner/short Gun Taolu.

why do you block with your fingers pointed out- I would of thought you'd have no control on the Bo if someone hit it and if someone struck it, it would do a spiral fracture of your fingers, also hand both close together at the end of the Bo if you hit something how would your control be??.......... looks nice, seen something similar at Dengfeng

I know Jake uses the Japanese word 'KATA' for Chinese term 'Tao Lu' (I think it should be 'tao lu' not 'kata'). Actually I agree with you, but I don't think that you have to hate him and keep posting negative comments b'cos of this. You have tried to correct him and that's enough! Just let him do so :) let's just improve the world and stop spreading hatred and negativity :) Let's be friends :) 五洲四海皆朋友 :)

@RealKungFu
@RealKungFu 10 жыл бұрын
"Chinese" is NOT Chinese! Chinese is "Zhong Wen" or "Han Yu" or "Pu Tong Hua". "Kung Fu" is NOT Kung Fu it's "Gong Fu"! "Tai Chi" is NOT Tai Chi it's "Tai Ji"! Etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc! The most common and known word in English for Staff is "Bo" and for choreographed Martial Arts Sequence is "Kata". Therefore we will keep using these terms. I also use the term "Tao Lu" "Pang" "Gun" etc in all my videos!
