I am Singaporean. Granted, my great grandfather did come from China. Even so, I was born here, I grew up here, my identity lies here, as a Singaporean, and not anywhere else. Although I do not support discrimination and bigotry (most of my friends in jc are, in fact, PRCs), I am sorry but I don't see anything wrong with specific Singaporeans having issues against specific PRCs. This is a result of inevitable differences between certain individuals, not so much about the nationality, or "hating the country of their ancestors". 因为成长环境不一样,做事的方式难免会有所不同,人与人之间也才会有产生摩擦,而类似事件发生的概率不只是局限在新加坡人与中国人之间,国籍,只不过是为了炒作而故意贴上的标签。One last thing to point out, hate, is a strong word, and as far as I know, lack of interest doesn't necessarily mean hate. It's like me saying I dislike your comment (accusations??), but I don't hate it. Thank you for your time. My apologies if I've offended you in any way.

@_.blank._94596 жыл бұрын
Kevin Yeung I believe one of the reasons why these people are not able to answer that many questions correctly is because they have already left school. Of course that is no excuse for our terrible Chinese (although i must say that i expected more from our Chinese). As an adult, not many people speak or write in Chinese. In fact, even the better professions such as doctors do not use Chinese frequently enough to vividly remember every word that they have learnt. Although people in Hong Kong mainly communicate using the Chinese dialect (i forgot which please enlighten me), i believe that the main language there is Chinese, which would explain why they would get most of the questions right.

@@stevej1235 english is a rather easy language to learn, first of all, without all the grammar and vocab stuff, the basic structure which is abc is already easy, for chinese you dont have a base like abc whr you can piece the sound out, every word has different strokes, same words having different meaning and different sound, for english, as long as you can piece the abc you can read out most words even if you dont understand them(korean hangul too), which makes searching for their meaning online easier, whereas for chinese, if you saw the word someone and tried to search for it in your phone u cant search it with the pin yin because you dont know hoe it sounds like, if you wrote it into your phone you could get the strokes wrong too, english IS easier than alot of languages,
