Thank you mr Chinmaya for a great and pedagogic video. What is the purpose of using E_max though? Wouldn't this just cause maximum dielectric stress, throughout all layers of insulation?

Jonathan Gall : no max gradient is found at the surface of conductor and az we move away of it towards inner surface of sheath , it decreases .. and found minimum at inner surface of sheath so there is a limitation of using this cable at high operating voltage because of max stress on conductor surface , although the outer insulation material isn't completely utilized as its not yet reached the maximum value of stress rated for that insulation. If we can minimize the difference between the maximum and minimum stress , we can use the insulation material in more efficient way which will ofcource decrease the size of cable for same operating voltage hence the cost too as most of the material will be utilized in more efficient manner.

Nice. How ever the accent seems to be a forced one.
