A tip: When buying vanity or pet items, you can try on the item and as long as you don’t close the NPC menu, you can sell the item at 100% value. You can also buy the pet item, spawn the pet, and then resell it. If you close the menu, then the sell price will go down.

@@apollo1573 There is an enemy number limit which even with a battle potion and a water candle doesn't exeed 20 so if you are farming in a biome where there are flying enemies it makes a huge diffrence as flying enemies avoid liquids lava included and they just fill up spawn limit.

I think that for mages, a good life hack is wearing a gem robe in the cavern layer to attract tim. That way you can get a good damage boost early on from the set bonus. Also for mages, farming gems is much easier now with the addition of gem trees. I found one diamond in my playthrough and made a gem corn. Without too much trouble, I got a diamond staff and robe. These are my suggestions. Edit: For those of you who dont know, Tim can only spawn in the lower cavern layer, where there is lava, but not the underworld.

Speaking of gem trees, another suggestion is farming gem trees for money. Each time I clear my diamond farm (which took just a day from 4 diamonds to fully grow) and sell the drops, I get like 60-70 gold (still pre-BoC).

Hawllow use an extractinator, you can get ores that dont belong to ur worlds from it. Extractinators can be found commonly in the underground dessert and by using silt or fossils you can get some decent early game loot

For just starting out in hardmode, the best tip I’ve found is getting the Onyx Blaster. It’s way better than its stats suggest, and it can carry you at least through mechanical bosses if not to Golem. Farm in the corrupt desert for a bit for dark shards and underneath it for souls of night and bam, you have a super explosion shotgun that is imo the easiest to access, most powerful weapon in early hardmode.

PersonalMiner123 Agreed. Master mode seems to just remove any wiggle room for less efficient strats and weapons. You need all of your accessories to be Warding, often you don’t just need good weapons you need the best ones currently available. It’s a bit rough.

I have a tip. So arenas often have heart lanterns, campfires, star in a bottles, ammo boxes, bewitching tables, crystal balls, and sunflowers. A new item can be added to the arena buff setup, the bast statue, an item found in underground desert chests. The bast statue gives you an extra 5 defense, which is small, but it is still a buff if you need a little boost in master mode. Edit: I forgot to add some more, and the replies have reminded me. The gnome, when in contact with the sun, turns into an object you can mine, Placing it down will give increased luck which increases your damage slightly as luck dictates many things, including what you get on the damage range (for example, if a weapon does between 45 and 50 damage, it will more often deal 50 damage with good luck.) While on the topic of luck, capture a ladybug. Releasing it and colliding with the ladybug grants you bonus luck. Capture it again and save it for next boss. Finally, we the slice of cake, which is a placable item that gives a significant boost to speed and mining speed. Combined with asphalt and sunflowers, you will be fast, even without accessories,

Tips that I know of: Set up a glowing mushroom biome at the start of your game; you can convert lesser healing potions to much better ones from the get go. The price is that there will be enemies that deal 200 damage spawning on mushroom surfaces, but you can take advantage of them by making a lava trap with a sizeable wall to prevent ladybugs from coming your way. Each one of the mushroom enemies give roughly 20 silvers each. Set up a wall creeper farm. Early game they will be good for money as they almost never will clog your inventory when left overnight, and they drop fried eggs, which can get you far enough until you find better foods. At hardmode, you can use this same farm for spider armor, which is essentially free hardmode gear right away.

It took me about 2 hours, but I just did the achievement using the time controls in journey mode. When you get a quest fish, just catch enough to duplicate it and if it's a repeat quest just spawn one from the research tab. Change the time to midnight, set speed to 24x until 4:30, grab new quest, rinse, repeat. It certainly isn't as genuine but I did the first 50 before even the bed mechanic and it was pretty much torture.

Most people haven't realise d that the desert dungeon chest summon is a multi layered summon like the star dust dragon, the more you use the staff the stronger the tiger gets, and it even looks different every few swings, getting bigger and growing a bigger main

You dont have to fish in the underworld, you can make a lava pool on the surface and fish all your lava needs in the safety of the surface. Its how I got my bottomless lava bucket and lava sponge. And chum buckets help in lava, just remember to use a lava proof tackle bag. Or lava hook.

For golfing to find islands, I recommend building up, making a platform near space, and putting down a tee and using a driver, the driver makes the ball go pretty far and reveals a lot!

I love what they've done with the Magic Missile type weapons in this game, they feel godly for pre-hardmode and that part of the game was severly lacking in cool weapons that hardmode does have. Also an actual tip that might help is double checking some items don't have the material tag on them... You might find some neat surprises...

Fact: The magic quiver and the upgraded versions stack with each other capping the arrow consumption reduction and stupidly increase arrow speed and damage. It makes bows alot stronger. Daedalus is actually almost as good as before due to that. Only the star piercing is missing.

My little tip I just found out about is using a Magic Conch - at first I thought it was useless or just a decorative piece of item but you can use to teleport to the ocean!!! Absolute game changer. It also works if you’re at one end of the ocean and need to teleport to the other side. I found using this often especially when there’s an event (pirate invasion, goblin army, etc) and I can’t use my pylons in the world and sometimes the events spawn in the Ocean itself lmao. Hope this helps someone else :’)

To add to that: If you have a skybridge above your oceans, you'll teleport onto the skybridge. If the bridge goes *all* the way to the edge of the screen, your character will spawn at the very edge, where they can get immediately assaulted by an offscreen-spawned mob. To avoid that, make your skybridge a bit shorter, and build a little house/box at the end - you'll then always teleport into the safety of your box. You might also want to make the bridge low enough so that the Wyverns don't spawn there, once in hardmode.

Once you've gotten past skeletron and get the mechanic, try to get the Grand Design as early as possible since it helps a lot with managing traps. It displays wires even it it isnt in your hotbar

My tip: Have a time to fish in lava and get a dry bomb. Talk to the demolitionist after that and he will sell one. From dry bombs, you can craft water, honey, and lava bombs which makes creating a liquid pool infinitely easy.

You might not need the Hotline Fishing Rod, either. You can equip the Hotline Fishing Hook, allowing you to fish in lava. I'm also fairly sure that you are granted lava invincibility with the Lava Shark Mount, which you can get from fishing crates and stuff

8:43 My actual tip here is to NOT put your pylon in an area that's relatively easily accessible. Hell is accessible from the surface pylon but jumping down the hellevator. It's harmless and only slightly time consuming. But by putting my Cavern Pylon right outside the underground jungle, then I have an easy access to the Golem's Lizhard Temple. I prefer to use my Cavern Pylon for this as my Jungle Pylon is placed early on near surface depth for easy pre-hardmode jungle farming (and because Dryad and Witch Doctor are easy to aquire, while also setting up room for WD to move in right when I defeat Queen Bee). . If the falling speed for the Hellevator is too slow for you, equip the Slimy Saddle from King Slime (or the mount from Queen Slime) as those both triple your fall speed.

When making a lava based AFK farm, you should make the hole itself small enough for the drops to fit withing your loot range. The magnet can help in that. Alternatively, you can use a minecart to move back and forth under the trap. Furthermore, you can make the hole wider at the bottom than the top to stop a lot of mobs from just jumping out. Also, the elevator trick seems to be an example of hoiking. Usually best to make the basin as narrow as possible so enemies don't die too far away where the loot won't be picked up. Since you can make the one-way walls as you show a bit later, the Unicorns jumping too far really isn't much of an issue. Also don't forget that there's a Treasure Magnet in the game now, which gives you a bigger pickup range, which helps with AFK farming. I also advise placing down some mud to spread jungle grass on in order to create an artificial Jungle and placing a Water Candle. Different Biomes have different spawn rates and Jungles have the highest one. It'll still spawn Hallow enemies because the enemy type is determined by the block he spawns on (With some exceptions like the Dungeon and Spider Biomes). Since you are now in a Jungle biome, you can place a Jungle Torch for additional Torch luck and also place a Garden Gnome for even more luck, if you want to go all out, you can trap yourself inside of box and release a Ladybug for additional luck, since it'll constantly touch you. Even better if it's a Golden Ladybug. 8:50 The Demon Conch only requires lava, not actual hell, but that still is usually more effort than it's worth. Pylons are a good idea to go down to hell, but you can also very easily, albeit not necessarily cheaply build a teleporter down. With the Grand Design, you can pretty much build that teleporter as fast as you can fall down. Just hold down your mouse button to build the wire as you fall all the way down to hell, release it when you're down and you'll have the entire wire built in one go. Just gotta have enough wire for it. Add the teleporters and something to activate them and you're good to go. Another option is to use the hellevator while riding a Pogo Stick or the Slime Mount to take advantage of their increased falling speed.

Extra tip I found for truffle worms: if you create enough housing in your underground glowing mushroom to get a town, this decreases enemy spawns and increases critter spawns. It took me only a few minutes to get enough truffle worms for the fight. Additionally you can put your mushroom pylon there for easy access in case you need more truffle worms later. I would recommend setting up the housing pre-hardmode even, since it gives you easy access from the start for glowing mushrooms for healing potions.

A good life hack I always use is to keep any debuff negating accessories that I have in my Piggy Bank/Void Bag until I get an Ankh Shield. Similar to the Charm of Myths life hack, you can just right click the debuff negating accessory twice, and unless you have autopause on, it clears the debuff. Incredibly useful in stuff like expert/master mode jungle where stuff can give you 40 seconds of poison.

Its tedious at first but in journey mode when doing the fishing quests, always research your quest fish. It only takes two research to do (research once then again after second catch) and from that point on if you need that quest fish you have it and it will save sooooo much time in the long run

Not only is it useful to use golf to find islands but also, if you have a gun such as a pistol or a shotgun. You can combine regular musket bullets and meteorite bars to create meteorite bullets. You can shoot those as many times as you want as you're going across your world. If the bullet you fired comes back to you (comes down). You can see that if u go up from where you shot. There's an island.

Another tip for when you're making your own fishing spots is to make sure it's 200 blocks at least large. In the Wiki it states that any smaller than that and you actually take a percentage hit to your Fishing Power which effects a lot.

I found out that asphalt is really good against the Moon Lord. I made a ~400 block long asphalt runway and wired up two teleporters on each end; all you have to do for the first phase is run away from him while shooting chlorophyte bullets. You might have to jump to hit his heart in the second phase though.
