Just tried this on my brother! He's so relaxed that he hasn't moved for 3 hours!

I went to my chiropractor for a lower back concern, which was diagnosed with as a lower back injury. To cut a long story short - For some reason I was on the chiropractic bench and the chiropractor had my head in his hands and said 'relax', the next thing I know is I am having my head/neck twisted, this left me with noises coming from my neck, so I went back and this time saw a different chiropractor at the same clinic and said about the noises..... she decided to adjust my neck - WHEN I HADN'T EVEN RELAXED! - For 6 weeks I have had neck pain, went to A+E and was diagnosed with a muscular strain. Also, my neck sounds like it's made from coco pops when I turn my head.

My neck does the coco pops thing too has for years , u may not hav noticed before because ur neck was so tight , people carry a ton a tension there. Cyro is fairly aggressive and u should talk to whoever is working on you and tell them what u want , thats what i do and it seems to work pretty good. So recovery from a full body of adjustments can take me a week or three sometimes so be ready for that yourself. So yeah remember that when they say to breath out thats when they are gonna make an adjustment , thats also when u need to relax.

how do you know he has actually relaxed? and with an adjustment like these, is it important that the patient is relaxed to avoid injury?
@PrimeDiam Жыл бұрын
Not sure why everyone is saying this is super dangerous. Almost any medical procedure will have those headlines saying people got injured because it’s bound to happen eventually. I’d argue you’re more likely to get hurt driving your car on the daily than going in for a certified chiropractor readjustment. It’s like people hear a crack and assume it’s the movies where a neck crack = instant fatality. Weird.

The chance for problems to occur is about 1 in 100,000 and that increases if you go repeatedly for adjustments. The chance that you may end up paralyzed is real. That said… i’d still go.
@Ej_Switch Жыл бұрын
But still, if you do crack a neck the wrong way too hard, it can kill a person. The reason for that is a specific nerve in the neck that will break if you twist it too far. But if it doesn’t break the nerve, it’ll just cut off your airway. This I only what I’ve heard. I haven’t researched it just yet.

If you go to a chiro and they don’t want to make a neck adjustment then go to another chiropractor. If your not willing to have your neck adjusted then don’t go to a chiro. The neck is the most important adjustment for bringing the spine back into sync

Stop being weird. When one goes to a chiro, they are doing it for their own reasons.

I have a question as I have neck issues. I had an X-Ray, CT scan and then an MRI 8 years ago (they are thorough in Hungary on their NHS) as I was getting numbness in my arm and sometimes my leg. I was dropping things and in a lot of pain. Regular severe migraines were super common and my vision would be affected during those and I couldn't hold myself to stand sometimes even because of the dizziness. After the X-Ray they saw something which led to the MRI and after that the neurologist said I had an extra vertebra attached/next to/at the side of one of my normal vertebra in my neck, quite high in my neck but I don't remember which vertebra exactly though I've been told by therapists that it can be felt. They prescribed weekly passive muscle manipulation therapy by a physio to control the muscle spasms and other symptoms (as active physio only made it worse because of the muscle spasms the extra vertebra was contributing to by pressing of the nerves). It really really helps and I rarely get numbness now but because I don't live in Hungary any more, I have to pay for sessions so I can only afford them every so often for a tune up. What I'm wondering is, is it safe to have neck adjustments as someone with this extra vertebra on the side-ish of a cervical vertebra? I've always avoided Chiropractors and Osteopathic adjustments because I'm not sure but the more I watch the progress that can be made with people, the more I wonder if it could be good for me and how safe it is for my particular issue? I'd love to hear a real chiro's perspective on this.

I think you have to ask a chiropractor whether it’s safe or not. Or ask your neorolgist they know that.
