In our latest installment of Chiropractic Adjustment videos, we take a look at chiropractor Dr. James Midboe who gets adjusted by his colleague Dr. Ashley Hartman. Both Drs. are chiropractors at Finish Line Wellness in Savage, MN and they both live the lifestyle they preach getting adjustments multiple times per week.
Being a chiropractor can be relatively hard on your body compared to other professions and their bodies can often become unbalanced. It is important that they get adjusted frequently to help them be able to do the physical movements on their patients chiropractors are known for.
For more information on Dr. James, Dr. Ashley or Finish Line Wellness, go to www.finishlinewellness.com or send Dr. James an email at james@finishlinechiropractic.com
This video may also give you a sensation referred to as AMSR, or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. ASMR is a phenomenon that uses tingle triggers to initiate a tingling sensation that can be described as brain tingles, head tingles, spine tingle, brain massage and even brain orgasm or head orgasm. There are many types of intentional ASMR including, but not limited to, soft spoken ASMR, whisper ASMR, gentile whisper ASMR, role playing ASMR. Unintentional ASMR is also popular, with categories like medical ASMR, chiropractic ASMR, massage ASMR, salon ASMR, shave ASMR, head massage ASMR, clinical ASMR, scalp massage ASMR, painting ASMR, cooking ASMR, eye exam ASMR, and instructional video ASMR.

Watching that was fantastic, parts of that are exactly how my chiropractor dose it. She's also a tiny woman who throws her whole body into it and she's remarkably effective. My favorite though is upright neck adjustment. I live for that

So I enjoy watching these videos but I have to ask as someone who hasn't had this done to them at all isn't it dangerous to have your neck turned that fast and with such force? I mean couldn't it break? Also with the pulling of the arm wouldn't it be close to being dislocated? Im not trying to be rude but just I cringed everytime she moved his neck forcefully thinking it might break.

There is so much discussion centered around the viability of chiropractic. Some say it's quackery, others say it's a solid profession providing great care to patients. That said, those of you in the profession HAVE to understand why the rest of us feel skeptical. If every patient gets the exact same treatment every time (as is the case in your videos), then our perception (whether right or wrong) is that you're just running people through the motions, and that the care is not specific to the patient. Imagine one patient visiting an M.D. for a cold and another visiting for a broken arm...how incredulous would you be if both of those patients were treated in the exact same way for wildly different symptoms? Sorry, not trying to troll...just don't see the point here.

brianvanh Chiropractor here. I actually share your sentiments toward the profession generally. This characterization is especially true of chiropractors who still ascribe to the "straight chiropractic" philosophy, rooted in the idea that correcting elusive "subluxations" in the spine will prevent all disease by restoring nervous system function. Unfortunatley, subluxations (as defined in chiropractic) don't exist, and they're used as a boogey man among 'straight' chiropractors to keep you coming back. There are accredited colleges STILL dedicated to this bullshit philosophy. They teach their students just enough real science to get them by the board exams, and jam this ridiculous philosophy down their students throats. With that said, Chiropractic curriculum is now on par with that of MD's and DO's, and even the quackery-based chiropractic universities are being forced to become more evidence-based. Chiropractors are filling a vital gap in primary care in the US, especially in some states that now allow us to prescribe medications. But to your point, yes, doing the same adjustments on every patient regardless of symptoms is grossly irresponsible, and the rationale behind it is based in pseudoscience.

brianvanh I had several weeks of chiropractic treatment last year, and tbh it was the best thing i'd done in ages, as my spine was in a dreadful state, i could hardy move my neck, and standing up straight was impossible - hunched shoulders, lower back pain, poor balance - this all stemmed from poor posture as a child, and also heavy lifting - shopping bags, furniture etc. I eventually sought help after ending up in chronic pain, and a five minute walk could take as long as 15 mins. Anyway, not only can i walk properly now without losing balance, i can also run, swim better, and touch my toes - something i've never been able to do. I've had the treatments that are shown in the video, but also additional ones with my legs. I can understand what you're saying about all treatments being the same, however as chiropractic treatment deals with the spine, then thats the area they need to go to.

Art in Urban Nature I understand. And I know many people whose lives have been made better by a chiropractor. That said, I have been to many chiropractors. I've been manually adjusted, I've had the all-activator treatment, I've been to those who combine both, and I've even visited those who use some type of KST. In EVERY instance, I've gone to those chiropractors in pain. In EVERY instance, the chiropractor claimed that he/she could fix my problem. Well, it didn't happen. There was no relief. In the case of the one chiropractor who used the activator, I was under his care for 8 WEEKS for back pain (3 visits per week). After 8 weeks, I still felt as bad as the day I walked into his office. I eventually went to my medical doctor and within 2 days my condition had improved. I'm not some Johnny-come-lately who is on the outside looking in....I've been there and I've tried everything (including other methods such as acupuncture, etc.). It has simply never helped me. Having said that, do I enjoy a chiropractic adjustment? Does it make me feel relaxed? YES! But my experience, compounded with the many redundant videos that I see on KZbin lead me to believe that there is no merit to the practice. It may help some, and it may be a placebo for others...but for me, I'm out.

Shame about your wasted time with the chiro, but excellent GP fixed everything for you. tbh i have a couple of friends who had no success with chiropractic treatment, one friend payed over 6 hundred pounds and it made no difference to the quality of her life, in fact she now has to use a walking stick, and a mobility scooter, so yes i totally agree with you that it doesn't work for some people, and there is the strong possibility that my success was also due to regular hatha yoga practice. I remember my chiropractor saying when people stop treatment too early, then problems return, however i stopped my treatment in november last year, simply cos i had more interesting things to do, and i'm grateful things have stayed good. Plus I didnt want to get addicted - i've heard of people having treatments for 10 years, and I'm sure you have to! I suppose chiropractice in the same league as reflexology, some people swear by it, for others its an expensive foot massage. Thanks for replying, hope you have a good day :)

This is standard basic protocol chiropractic. If you watch some videos and type in "gonstead chiropractic" you will see chiropractors target and treat patients with methods that are specific to that patients condition. Yu will literally see patients that are in severe neck discomfort and will have nausea and vomiting and the Chiro treats it. Only and they work out perfectly for that patient. Your comment was still very respectful. Chiropractic is a beautiful approach in medicine and is an asset to medicine just as any other medical profession. Sometimes sometimes prescription drugs work sometimes they don't, sometimes surgery works and sometimes it doesn't, sometimes chiropractic, physical therapy and massage Etc work and sometimes they don't. It doesn't mean that they should be ruled out. Every approach has its benefits. Sometimes we need different approaches.

The more I see chiropractic and wellness, I wonder if there is actually something to it. In my country a lot of people are overweight, don't exercise, don't have a good diet. In fact spend heaps of time but looking after themselves (as busy working, or looking after kids etc). Maybe there is an element of truth to wellness.

Dr Ashley knows my case very well and has treated me over a hundred times. The speed was because she knew what to adjust exactly before the video and the adjustment itself does not need to take very long - there is no greater benefit necessarily. Nerves both leave and return into the neck - extremity adjustments restore mobility as well as enhance nerve function to the peripheral nervous system. This system in turn communicates with the neck (central nervous system) - both systems work together. Ever burned your hand/finger? That was you peripheral nervous system talking to your central nervous system to tell you to pull your hand away - back to the peripheral nervous system to perform the action of pulling your hand away. The central nervous system is the most important system of the body - it controls the function of everything else. Subluxation, or the pressure on a nerve, inhibits the ability for that nerve to do its job. Chiropractic is the practice of removing interference from the one system that runs all others. Hope this helps! Be well.

That's why it's important to get adjustments at least once a month, it keeps you loose and prevents injury and stiffness as well. Keeps your range of motion in check. I don't like chiropractors. I've went couple of times and was in alot more pain then I did before I went. Maybe the guy I went to was not very good I don't know. The part that really hurt me was what she did at the very end when on side. when he did that I was about to cry. when he did my neck and back when I was flat on stomach actually felt good but all the enjoyment I had went away quickly when he did that.

It's because your body has adjusted to being the wrong way For so long. Of course, it hurt because she disturbed it and forced it to go in the right way. You have to keep going For a few weeks in order for the body to adjust being Properly aligned. It's common sense. Not everything that's good for us is going to be pleasurable.
