The Bluebird sounds warmer, more low end and overall depth. The AKG is more a little less warmer, has more highs, and spatial .. Depends what you're looking for anyway. They're both incredible sounding mics

I currently have the bluebird but the cap popped off and is currently now only hanging by a few wires. Might replace it with the p220 once the bluebird gets on its final legs.

I had the same thing happen to my bluebird! I don't know what it is but apparently the build quality must be quite sensitive. I'm glad I've finally seen someone else who had this happen. I actually bought the bluebird as an upgrade from my p220 but, after all the issues the bluebird gave me (it eventually just stopped working, sadly), I'm more than happy to be using my p220 again. It's still great bang for the buck and I can trust the thing won't spontaneously break. I've had it for about six years and it's still going strong.

@@charlieweathersbymusic Does it still work for you though? Yeah! The P220 is in my opinion built more sturdy than the bluebird! Both are super great mics for what you pay for but I can't help but feel like those few wires that are still connecting the head of the bluebird to its stem will eventually break off...

@@kwesifields Unfortunately, my bluebird is pretty much toast now and I don't have the money or skills to fix it since my warranty is long gone at this point. I'm sorry to hear you're in a similar spot with the wire situation. Of course they're both great mics I totally agree. For my use cases currently (recording vocals for music and also for speaking/voiceover) the p220 works great and I don't think I really need to upgrade again any time soon. I loved the sound quality of the bluebird, don't get me wrong, but in my opinion, I'd rather have something I know will hold up and the bluebird has served as a bit of a cautionary tale for me.

I must admit, I am a little bit rough on my gear, it's not on purpose lol but I have to have gear that can keep up with me being clumsy and my p220 has passed that test

@@charlieweathersbymusic I agree hence why I've been using the P220 more as of recently. For travel, it even comes with a case! I'm confident that the AKG will go really well long term. I don't think you have to worry about upgrading anytime soon just as long as you keep it away from rare accidentals like water and stuff. lol

I use the P220 for my voice work. It is a workhorse; it gets the job done.

AKG sounds better to me. More body and low end, it sounds warmer.

The AKG is better balanced overall to the Bluebird. Thanks for watching!
