Very educational mate. As a fella just starting to give a fire truck about chisels this will be handy when I finally get a 'real' set to replace the $18 carpenters set I currently use ;)

Awesome video. I’ll have to look into the shaptons. I have two sharpening stones but no set up for them yet. Need to build a holder like that

Just as I post on your other video how much I love my pmv11 chisels I get shown a video of you saying you wouldn't get them 😂 but I'll say it again, treat your self to an atoma 400 diamond plate, it works wonders flattening the shaptons and getting the backs of chisels flat in no time ! Cheers

Only cause I hate sharpening... chisels I use more than any hand tool and putting a new grind on PMV11 makes me shiver!

Really useful tips… have to look up those stones as been trying to get an edge on my faithful chisels and struggling… got a double sided diamond plate but not convinced it’s working as it should… like the idea of using the sandpaper stuck to the in feed table… nice touch…. Will be watching this a few times me thinks. Cheers for the content.

Great sharpening vid, I have used sandpaper up to 24,000 and gotten great results. I am going to 20 degrees on some of my chisels after seeing how yours work. Have a great week.

Really?!? I didn’t know you could get sand paper to that grit! I would of thought anything over 4K would be pointless, that’s as high as I go on my car paint.

Great video. I have a similar view to you with regards chisel sharpening the primary bevel - I'm not fan of sharpening purists. It's got to be quick and easy. Plus I'm not afraid if sharpening jigs either.

It gets my back up, I see them in Facebook groups commenting like their some sort of water walker, I can paint photographic looking oil paintings but I dont tell peeps who paint like its a cartoon thinking is photographic looking that they can't paint, they can paint, but in their way... Why peeps feel the need to one up themselves annoys me so much! Small dick syndrome I call it "-D

MHG make nice socket chisels in metric available from Dieter Schmid Fine Tools or TF tools. They're a bit chonky, like shipwright chisels but lovely looking, and well made. Agree wrt diamond stones (plates). I was very disappointed with them.
