These boots are the real deal. Solid, handsome, comfortable and all four pairs of mine have worn great since 2020.
@aaronfrancis318510 ай бұрын
This video was way more important than I would have thought. I bought a pair of No 2s about a year ago and got heel clicking due to the shank. Chisos repaired them but it was a big deal. I just recently tried a second pair in another color and got that awful creaking and squeaking from the shank, within literal minutes. Two for two on shank issues. I wanna love Chisos but that ain't right. For a 550 dollar pair of boots that claim to be the highest quality, shank defects are an insultingly big deal. The fact that yours went away eventually is also huge. I didn't think you could wear them past the creak.

I was worried it wouldn't go away but that's what the extended tests are for! Thanks for watching Aaron

Finally ordered mine today. I've wanted them for a few years. A year ago I started saving my spare money, and I was finally able to purchase some number 2's today. Can't wait to slip them on my feet.

They are beautiful boots and I must say the footage you recorded wearing them only solidified that testament. However I’m sorry for almost $600 all in and no B width you could get a pair of almighty White’s , or you are knocking on the door for Lucchese for possibly narrow widths. I think these brands really need to at least up charge or consider narrow sizes. It’s a shame considering what you pay these days thinking $300 boots are considered ‘cheap’ but really it’s not. I would like to see a video showcasing a B width boot since I’m in the same boat. Awesome channel brother !

I got a set of these 2 years ago and honestly they're the best boots I've ever had. My boots haven't squeaked, they're comfortable for 8 hours + of wearing, they're extremely tough and after broken in they're my absolute favorite. At 6'6 and 290lb with 15 EEEE feet, I am shocked these fit me, and the narrow entry for my foot hasn't bothered me too much, but I doubt with some high friction merino wool socks I could get my foot in.
@adamcarts10 ай бұрын
My Chisos No. 2's squeaked too. I sent them back and the new pair seem to be fine. As you mentioned, the insole is great but does add extra height and makes me feel as though I am tipping forward a bit. Being a Tecovas fan, I admit to these being my favorite boot at the moment. Great video.
@smackdadious10 ай бұрын
Man I'm falling behind, I had no idea that they changed their boots. I might try their ladies no. 3. B width. size up and take the insole out. My number 5's are not the greatest fit for me, but they are a great looking boot! I do wish B width's would be more accessible

Love my pair of #2s enough that I watched this video about boots I already own. They're really stout boots - very supportive but also comfortable. You can feel the difference when you put 'em on - "something's different here!" They dress up great (with matching belt of course) but I really need to take the plunge and let 'em do some work and play out in the boonies. Relegating boots like this to going out, travel, and going to the office is like having a nice shotgun you never take out hunting. I'd really love to see that leather in an oiled finish too! I'd order on day 1. And it's great to see Jeremiah going out doing good things in the community! Keep it up!

I appreciate the review and have seen a few other of your reviews that they were good as well. Also respect the service you’re doing in your community. Frankly, you couldn’t pay me to live that far up north, particularly with the weather but the community spirit you guys are helping to create I think offsets some of those negatives. Keep up the good work on both fronts.

Wrapping a shank won't stop it from coming lose. That's whats causing the squeek. They either need a better gluing compound or go to a composite/leather shank. TBH unless your climbing ladders, kicking shovels, or under a pack load you don't need a shank
@robertburey470410 ай бұрын
Shank should not make noise when flexed for the price of those boots
@David-fu4jp4 ай бұрын
My most recent pair squeaked at first, but I'd much rather deal with that than have any cardboard inside the boot. I enjoy breaking in boots and making them my own, so when the squeak is finally gone, it's like a little accomplishment and another reason to love em even more. Maybe kinda silly but that's what I think.

I wonder if them removing the compressed fiberboard/cardboard bit that used to build up the arch support is why that shank squeaks against the leather now? Rose Anvil’s cut in half video on the upgrades looked like the shank isn’t as thick either to allow for more leather midsole and more arch contouring. Maybe the metal being regular thickness instead of ridiculously thick like before allows it to shift during break in? Great review as always. Could you check out the newish Drew’s made in Mexico Trevor boot sometime. They seem to be doing interesting things lately with $300-400 pricing instead of their old $550-650 range Thanks

The square toe looks wide. Is it that wide or just look like it? I'm not interested in a wide square toe. I have one of those on my Ariats. Want a narrower square toe. Something between a wide and the Chiso #5

Brand and model of those pants at work and thrift store? What’s your everyday favorite jeans? I owned the #2”s for 2 years and installed sole savers right away, they are tough and durable. If mines squeak i will rub some Bick 4 on the inside throughout and insole. Love how they come back after a good cleaning.

@@JeremiahCraig with a company like Alvie’s, it seems like they don’t use distribution or resellers. So does the sponsorship have to come from them? Does it help if prospective customers email them and suggest they work with our favorite KZbinrs for review? Grassroots campaign?

These are $100 higher than same from Tecovas. I would never wear a $600 boot out and around for manual labor type work or construction. Granted they were very comfortable, that's due to the insert. You can get a cheaper cowboy boot for labor type work and put an insert in it. That would prolly convert it from D width to C or B. Thanks for mentioning the red inside staining white socks. I wondered about that... 😉

A better bonding agent (Barge or other quality leather cement), professionally applied, and wrapped in leather (allowed to completely dry with the last inside) will prevent squeaks from loose shanks.

I don’t know my brannock size but I went with my sneaker size. I’ve got a touch more heel slip than I’d like, so I’d say they maybe run a half size large compared to sneaker size which is probably roughly in line with most people’s brannock.
