I LOVE these sit down catch up videos. I LOVE how you are so self aware about your $$$. Congrats on YOUR NEW JOB. I got laid off too after 9-10 months at my first job so I totally agree with you - I’m literally so paranoid and insecure that my next job will be the same. Constantly worried about my performance and def have lots of insomnia since it stresses me out so much lol so I feel ya

Just remember not all employers are the same. I was fired in January for being il and I finally got the job I’ve been searching for. I admit I’ve got some ptsd from the last experience. I also remind myself that this is going to be a far better experience for me. Try hard not to stress. Remember they’re fortunate to have you as an employee and wouldn’t have chosen you if they didn’t see something in you.

as someone who has had anxiety about jobs and money in general it's natural. i think a lot of it is due to my mom (not in a bad way) my moms job is to helps those who struggle with life from mental health to homelessness. she's made it very clear that everyone can be one paycheck away from being homeless. and showed me and my brother the importance of an emergency fund. just don't let it take over your life.

Yep same with the job. I had a position end because it was temporary so I knew going in at some point they would tell me it’s over. I did get offered a regular position in a different department that is going well so far. However I am always worried about the fact that things may change someday.

If you think buying the house was an insane process, wait until you have to repair, maintain, or replace something. I had to replace my whole HVAC and repair my deck in the backyard. The previous owner didn't repaint weather condition paint for the deck. I had to have put in a paint that helps the wood last longer. Would you have bought a house if they were more affordable?

i would’ve needed more than $100k-$200k more to buy a house here. it’s insanely expensive. i’m worried about the repairs and maintenance costs but im glad i made sure to have an energy fund for the house because it adds up so fast

How are people treating you at work? It's amazing how fast you found a job. Most companies put you on a 90 probation period. Did your offer letter tell you or HR tell you that you're on a 90 probation period?

wow deffo very ambitious of your goal to buy a detached house right after college. if it was before 2000, sure could be done at the age of 25-27 but now everyone around my age group which is 28-34 are still renting cos even a condo is over 500k in canada. Even with 2 incomes, they still rent. Feels like to own a house/condo before the age of 30, you either need help or it's cos that person has been earning a decently high income for a number of years. Congrats on getting a condo at quite a young age but you being a an influencer deffo helped speed up the process. I know maybe like 2 or 3 people who has got a property before the age of 30 by just working a normal job and that's cos their income started at over 130k right after college.

it was definitely ambitious hahah. house prices and interest rates were significantly lower back then but even if they were at the same rate, I probably still wouldn't have been able to afford lol. I feel so grateful I started making KZbin videos 11 years ago. the income I made back then that I was able to save is such a blessing and a main reason I was able to afford this. ontop of my 9 to 5 and small business

that is what me and my husband are working towards right now, but the anxiety of failing at buying a house is a real struggle sometimes.I have 2 years of college left and we have been saving up and living below our means so when i get my full time job we are able to buy a house as fast as possible. me and him even moved away from the pnw because we knew we would never be able to buy a house or condo. the hope one day is to move back when we are in our 30-40s but right now we are happy living in the south as 20 and 21 year olds slowly reaching our goal for a downpayment on a house and for us to both be in a stable job just not one of us.

I tell people to "Stick to the Script." when I talk to them. This means if I speak to them that can be factual just answer the question and not express your opinion. Here's an example. Someone stole my food in the refrigerator. I asked a person when do we clean out they clean out the fridge because my food went missing. This person said if you put your name on it wouldn't have got stolen. All I asked was when does the fridge get cleaned out. That's all I wanted to know. Stick to the Script. If I want their opinion on something, I'll ask.
