Chitkul is a small village in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh located at a height of 3,450 meters above the sea level. One of my favourite place in India Chitkul has the cleanest air in India according to a research. In winters it actually looks like heaven on the Earth. Hello First Of all thank you so much for this information and second of all im a adventure biker we have biking group and i have done delhi to narkanda last year, this year i decided for more adventure by visiting chitkul in end of this year, so we are all prepared for this ride as we already know that we have to face many problems in snow but for us thats the real adventure, and i have contact with the zostel about visiting chitkul in end of this month, So as you mentioned in many comments that chitkul is closed, so by that mean its offically closed or due to snow ? and what other things you can suggest for us,

Hey! In December end road to Chitkul will be closed. You cannot reach by bike there. Adventure is good but in that case when there is low level snow, but in December end there would be knee high snow where the bikes cannot move. The BRO will close the roads. It's not at all feasible to go there in December end. Narkanda is much much lower than Chitkul, that was possible but Chitkul is almost impossible in December end. I hope this satisfies you. Buses will not be operative if there is continuous snowfall. You can go by 4x4. Also have some buffer time with you as roads gets closed due to snowfall. So you have to wait for it to be cleared😃

There would be snow in October and try to go in the start of October to avoid road blockage. October is the month when snowfall starts😀

Reckong peo is the headquarters so it has more options. But I would recommend to stay In Kalpa and Chitkul as it gives more beautiful and mind blowing views😃

Winters are a bit risky and roads gets frequently closed, so until and unless you have experience in driving on snow you should avoid it. I went there in mid March month😀😀

Hi! Chitkul February me toh bohat mushkil hai. Roads block honge. Toh February me jaana risky hai. March 10 ke baad jaana sahi rahega. Chitkul me 2 hostels hai and kaafi. Homestays and guest houses hai. But February me mostly sab stays bandh rahenge.

The temperature would be Sub zero and snow all over. The hotels are open and serving till January at least, you can reach there. I myself will be in Chitkul Year End.

March end the condition will be better comsidering that no unforseen snow fall happens. If your travelling by your own vehicle then be prepared for the tough roads and you need a skillful driver to drive to Chitkul😀

Hey! Visitng Chitkul in March starting will not be advisable due to risks involved. One should go after 15th March when the snow starts melting. Chances are more that the roads will be closed, so if you go then there is always a risk involved.

Visited this place last week, Hostel rent was Rs. 700 per bunk bed and private rooms were available for Rs. 800. So, I don't think hostels were the better option and affordable rates are far away from afford word.
