imo fighting him in the open is terrible. He loves doing that boar rush charge move a lot. If you bring him close to the wall, he is limited to a couple moves, and many of them you can kind of negate just by standing behind or beside the wall. You can ride torrent here, but he gets spammy with ranged attacks making it worse actually. Good luck guys.

yep just constantly rushes and no room to attack the devs fricking forgot a recovery period for the dlc.

@@Rubhen925 There's openings but that charge attack is absurdly stupid. You can dodge it semi easy with light roll but its almost frame perfect on medium.

Genuinely hate this boss, every opening you get often times turns into a trade given how fast he recovers from his attacks, the hitboxes on his attacks are jank incarnate, and the fact they had the gall to give him a phase 2 is just icing on the cake.

Okay so as someone who has nearly 15k hours across the genre since the first day of demons souls I think im fairly qualified to have an opinion on the state of things in the souls games. This dlc has a lot of cool fun flashy things but at its core as much as its beautiful to look at, they added artificially unfun difficulty to shadows of the erdtree. I really feel bad for people who play with summons because 95% of bosses wouldnt even give you the chance to summon a spirit before they have run you down or spammed 20+ projectiles at you. I have played and finished the entire dlc now after about 20 hours (with defeating all of the bosses) and I gotta say I dont feel like ill be replaying this one on all of my characters. Bosses like Orphan/Ludwig/Gael/Friede/Artorias for example all feel like bosses that when you lost it felt as though it was by lack of skill, but a few of the dlc bosses simply have input reading turned to the max so they always know what the ideal counter to the button you just pressed is. Commander Gaius I think is the worst boss in the Dlc, and in the top 10 worst designed bosses in the catelog. It feels like a fight youre just waiting for the perfect run when he does the easy attacks all in a row instead of charging 15 times with no window to even walk up to him

all it takes is a simple recovery window for some of these bosses. From just forgot to turn that on....

There are plenty of windows to get hits (unless you're spellcasting or your build relies on slow charged attacks) but that ramming attack, yuck, terribly designed. Best way to dodge it is either well timed light roll or spontaneous guard.

@@sigmaoperator1688 yes the charge is the entire problem with him because it's a 50/50 chance to instakill you even if you dodge correctly and he starts the fight with it no matter what, also was neither a spellcaster or using a slow weapon

This my needs the biggest god damn nerf I swear and it’s for the simplest things. Delay the time he gets to you for like 3 seconds, have him not spam his rush and not have a inconsistent hit radius when you try to dodge it and bam a way better boss

Tried like 20+ times, on foot, on torrent, same build as yours, i kept getting charged, and i swear that boar charge is insufferable. Some times felt that even if done frame perfect id still get hit. I gave up and used mimic for a easy oneshot.

My strat was to wait for charges, roll through and cast black flame on him. Rinse and repeat. Once second phase hit i summoned a mimic then did same strat but would throw some sacred blades in when aggro shifted

just beat the bastard. solo, no summons, no mimic tear. took me 4 hours, and multiple builds. Beat him with a reduvia LMAO
