Think the confusion is the curl pattern. Most 4c people we see, have a tight wave pattern. The hair doesn’t really Form a coil just in some parts. That guy has no wave pattern, rather a tight coil. I think both is 4c but in all honesty the hair typing system ist trash. Our hair is soooo much mir diverse. *the question we need to ask ourselves is: 1. Is 4c measured by the level of shrinkage? 2. Is 4c determined by how little your hair wants to clump?(Level of frizz) 3. Is 4c determined by your actual pattern and it’s sequences

Lots of people get 4b (no coil/s pattern, tightest wavy pattern) mistaken for 4c (the tightest/smallest coil/curl). Only 4a and 4c are coils/curls according to the chart. 4b is a zig zap/S pattern/tight waves....... people with 4b think they have 4c. All coils, curls and waves shrink. Extreme shrinking is not indicative of only those with 4b (wavy/s pattern no coil no curl) hair. Hair does what it do. Also hair that is dry or in recovery from damage or neglect can lacks a coil/curl or wave pattern. Porosity also adds an element of confusion along with density and length. All these things (and more) can hide, change and alter a coil, curl and waves. But coil/curl pattern is only useful when styling hair. 4a/4b hair will not do some of the things 2a and 3b will do with just a spritz of water same as 2a and 3b can’t do with 4a/4b hair can do with just a bit of hair butter.

Hair type: is the pattern, and can temporarily change with manipulation. Hair shrinkage: is the difference between in length of the hair straighten and full natural. Can indicate the health of the hair. More shrinkage the better, can be limited by type, thickness [the amount hair on the head] and density [the thickness of each hair] And the more important things to look for is: hydration levels, and if there's any damage. The hair typing system does not regard the complexity of our hair. Best believe we have more than just 4a, 4b and 4c
@sly57223 жыл бұрын
Looks 4c to me, just more define than most. Just because his hair isn’t dry and rough like most 4c peoples doesn’t mean he isn’t 4c. People be out here confusing hair type and texture. His texture is just softer.

It's the anti-blackness in this comment for me. Most people with 4c have hair that's rough???

I don't even know my own hair type, but I smiled so much listening to the first guy discuss his hair type. He was choosing his words with such care and respect while disagreeing and I feel like I see that so rarely in men.

4c has a tight curl and clumps more at the ends, it is 4b that is more of a zig-zag
@vivianjoe50223 жыл бұрын
I had a classmate who never put a comb through her hair, she only finger detangles her hair so her coils (4c) clumped together and became more defined. So I think that is why his hair looks the way it look. Please don't come for me 🥺
@vivianjoe50223 жыл бұрын
Before you guys say it's supposed to turn to dreads, remember the hair is detangled just not with a comb.
@kimchiva-39503 жыл бұрын
Her hair isn't 4c tight coils that clump and shrink doesn't mean 4c 4c is to small to see i doesn't clump easily either she has silky thick hair just like me. If 4c was that easy to define everybody whould have figured it out i cant believe everybody has dry non taken care of hair

You're right. I was here saying he doesn't have 4c hair 3 months ago. I recently found out (once I stopped using brushes), that I have the same hair type 😬. My hair is definitely course 4c, but it clumps now. Once water hits it, even with no products.

He has 4c hair. You guys in the comments need to look at the hair chart because there's this assumption that 4c hair looks dry and coarse all the time. His coils are TIGHT. This is really just turning it into does this person belong under the "4c" hashtag. Does everyone with 4a or 4b or 2c hair look the same? No- so why is that the case when it comes to 4c? He knows what his own hair looks like. Feel sorry for him because Chizi and others are mistyping his hair.
@monicaquerrien64783 жыл бұрын
I mean he was the first person that I have seen to put his hair next to the hair chart and it's a model example of 4c hair. I wonder how his hair would look if it was brushed out? I think some people are concerned that if his hair is truly 4c, then that means something must be "wrong" with their hair, and that's not true at all.

I have his hair on parts of my head when I do multiple bentonite clay treatments. It’s not 4c. The coils are still too large. 4c hair coils are tiny. Up to 3mm in diameter.

I think alot of people don't realize that 4c hair defines and everyone just assumes that if you hair doesn't look like a cloud or has a noticeable coil to it when wet that you not 4c but that's just not the case if you see healthy well taken care of defined 4c hair it looks just like the first guys i have 4c hair and and when i first cut my hair to go natural and it was growing before i started dying and bleaching my hair defined the exact same way maybe some 4c naturals can't get that definition be cause of damage of simply not knowing what works for you specifically yet and because there's so much different things you have to take in a count with 4c it leads to people assuming what 4c is supposed to look like and that 4c doesn't define and can't clump or anything but it definitely can
@brokegirlmagic87443 жыл бұрын
The hair typing chart is a strand test. I keep waiting to see him compare one of his strands to the strand hair typing chart. Most type 4 hair look the same locked and coiled together 😂😂
@Drea10art3 жыл бұрын
You CAN measure curl diameter . . . Get some shed hair, let it curl up flat like a little O shape and lay it on the cm side of the ruler and count how many mm wide it is. If you can't be bothered to do this then stop arguing who is and isn't 4c. I don't know why people would rather spend the mental energy over the subjective instead of objectively figuring this out if it matters that much. And it's not going to cause a divide unless you choose to use it as such. We can celebrate each other's differences without using it to tear each other down.

honestly technically no one in this world has the exact same curl pattern. There will always be something different about each individuals curls pattern, because everyone is different. we can have SIMILAR curl patterns, but that’s it. I definitely think his hair is of the 4c family. His just might appear a little different than most because he’s an entirely different person lol. This is why we should never compare our hair to others.
