@renee2994 all depends on the person. I know that for me personally I wish my family would've have showed more concern about weight gain that often turns into hypertension and diabetes (possibly early death) in my own personal family history vs enabling and practicing unhealthy eating and lifestyle choices. I'm not saying bully ppl about weight gain but I know myself now that it's out of love and concern not malice. Everyone won't see it that way and that's ok too.

Your mother should've applauded you and been proud that you didn't take it in stride. I was a skinny child and I'm now a petite adult. And I have a particular vendetta against miserable middle-aged/elderly people who comment on my body. These types usually look like busted cans of biscuits and have no business harboring any kind of negative opinion of others' appearances. But they're the most vocal because they're enabled. They won't stop bullying until someone calls them out on it.

My grandmother use to always tell me to stay slim too. She was just reminding me to stay healthy and fit in her own way. It’s easier on your body, joints, organs, and doesn’t put strain the nervous system. I’m grateful she instilled that into me. Rise in power Beverly. ✨💚

If this advice is universally true, why then do some people keep saying African men like fat women.

Many african men like fat women. They call it “thick” but its really fat. Not all cos my 2 brothers married tall modelesque type women. Havent u noticed the skinnier african girls now marry whyte men? Its cos whyte men appreciate them more. We call these skinny women, stockfish n broomsticks in africa

No it’s not fat women African beauty standards are different from the white standards most African women are curvy with boobs and all even the smallest aren’t small they embrace the bigger women because back in the day they used to predict fertility from how wide a woman’s hips were and how tall she was and whether she had breasts so when you are skinny like in the west they feel like you have no energy the woman’s shape played a big role in predicting her fertility and delivery it was mostly true because the shorter women had more issues giving birth mostly to babies who weighed more so in other wards until the c section was discovered in East Africa for the first time in the whole world they relied on such beauty standards for survival plus a belly pouch that was abit bigger to protect the woman’s organs they don’t believe in so much of flat tummies because a pouch is meant to protect a woman’s productive organs

@@kenjerkenjer9576what is african beauty standards? Being fat and bleached? Oh plz… spare me the unhealthy crap. The fat women they pick r unhealthy by any standards. But keep telling urself it is African Beauty standards. Just like the anorexically thin whyte women r uhealthy, the gigantic huge hips n butt and belly fat these african men drool over r unhealthy

My West Indian father in law too except he pissed me off by not making it about anything to do with my health but more about his son’s preference. Gtfoh. He wanted me to be “de size I was in de wedding dress because his son wants a woman he can wrap de arms around” …and I’m only saying it offensively because I’m pissed.
