@Rick. All you mentioned is talent. There's no one in the world that could master anything only by having "talent" or gifted or prodigy. They're all need to work hard on it. But a talented person, will developed more quickly than other person that are not talented. Because their brain are gifted from a person that already mastered and passionated to specific things. Easiest is to see Matthew 25 : 14 - 30. It's the perfect example case of someone that has talent and no talent and the correlation with hard work

Life is not easy, we have to accept the fact, we came to this world differently, yes the abilities can be improved by better environment, richer or educated parents behind the kid, but I know example, when somebody was born in "perfect" family, yet they have failed to show up any talent, or they had terrible personality which led them to being a negative example.

At present only Chloe's truly amazing performance with them earlier this year of Bruch's first violin concerto--it has come as quite a shock to me--is uploaded, but more uploads will follow in due course (none of her recent performances with them of Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante, Mozart's third violin concerto, and Paganini's first violin concerto having as yet been made available, and her performance with them next month of the Butterfly Lovers violin concerto being still to come). Membership is just SGD2 a month, and gives unlimited access to the uploaded videos. Chloe's Bruch was uploaded on Saturday and I have already listened to it many times. There are other SSO performances to which membership gives access, but for the moment I am so captivated by Chloe's performance that I haven't yet listened to any. I feel that SGD2 per month is a very small price to pay to express support for Chloe and the SSO (that in turn fosters her remarkable development). Membership can be cancelled any time and the monthly payment is taken by direct debit. Signing up to it couldn't be easier. Details are in the descriptions/pinned comments of the Bruch clips that have just been posted on the SSO's channel (and, I presume, under the channel's membership tab.

Because if you’re not adjusting your wrist and simply moving your arm up and down your bow will be sliding over the strings slanted and make a very harsh sound. I remember when I first learned violin it took me years to train my wrist to do this naturally and habitually without me having to be conscious of it. There’s a lot of small details like this that regular people would never know about. But I am only a beginner violinist, so there must be infinitely more details I can’t even imagine, which make this feat all the more impressive. I'm absolutely amazed this hasn't gone viral. Little Chloe created four seasons of tears out of this 40 year old man who is also classically trained. She didn't put a single note wrong... truly incredible. Vivaldi would also have given her a standing ovation if he'd witnessed this.

I personally think that Christian Li had the better performance. They both competed in the same competition. They both won the junior prize. And they both played Vivaldi. I think that Vivaldi would have stood up for both.
@maxxevv33286 жыл бұрын
They were both exceptional in their own chosen styles of play. Christian is the consummate stage performer, I give that to him. Chloe was exceptional in the musicality and tonality of her performance. If you closed your eyes and listened to both rather than rely on the visuals, you might draw different conclusions about who you preferred. As I mentioned in the comment in another video, its like comparing Heifeitz and Ostrakh. Both were equally loved for their respective strengths and both were often very different in their interpretation and playing styles for even the same pieces.

She has incredible talent, prodigy level obviously, but the memory part is not impressive at all. To know a piece and master it (especially this hard), you’ve got to train for days, weeks, sometimes months. So you’ve done it hundreds if not thousands of times. I’ve been playing piano for 20 years (not at her level with the violin) and my fingers can still remember some pieces I’ve learned 10 or 15 years ago, without my brain knowing any single note or having to watch the sheet. And I could do it at 8 yo, without being super talented or hard working. It’s just muscle memory. Basic skill of any half decent musician at any age.

The first piece was incredible, I've never heard those sounds or seen the technique she was using with the bow before - it almost looked sideways! She takes her time and has amazing dynamics... I hope she never loses this! 😍🤩🤯
@jackburgess85793 жыл бұрын
You are right that in this performance Chloe exhibited amazing dynamics, and that she "took her time" A key to her success in the competition was her adoption of slow tempi, especially in the first round and semi-final, where her performances were no less compelling than this one. So doing allowed her superlative musicality and the excellence of her technique to really come to the fore. Within just six months one could see the depth and solidity of the virtues you single out - and also her first public display of superb left hand pizzicato - in a sublimely controlled but nevertheless extremely intense and colourful performance of Wieniawski's Variations on an Original Theme (first part). kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXevioGrl9d2ntE Since then her development has continued in this direction, and with such rapidity that in the last couple of months she has posted on YT performances of Vaughan Williams' "The Lark Ascending" and Mozart's violin concerto #2 that, by even historical standards, are genuinely world class. Rest assured, to the musical world's gain, these three year's past Chloe has lost nothing of the charms and abilities on display here!

@@carolinehaf21 It is nice that you appreciate Jaehyuck Choi's piece. Many people (very unjustly) find it unmusical. While Chloe is an absolutely incredible violinist, you should know that the piece was compulsory, having been especially commissioned by the Menuhin Competition. So all six finalists played it. Moreover, it is the very different performance of the piece by Christian Li - who with Chloe was the joint winner, the two of them being the two youngest winners _ever_ - that Jaeyhuck chose to post on his YT channel. The techniques that Jaehyuck exploits are actually standard fare in contemporary composition. For this reason you might like to know that in the semi final of the Menuhin Competition after this one (deferred from 2020 because of the pandemic), the juniors have to play at least one similarly modern piece. Indeed, they are doing so right now, as I type, and being streamed live, and then immediately posted, on the Menuhin Competition's YT channel! The pieces they have chosen are extremely interesting and the level at which they are being performed is again extraordinarily high. Also, Chloe is giving a recital there on Tuesday (18 May) as part of the entertainment between the semi finals, which are being held today (juniors) and tomorrow (seniors), and the finals next weekend. Her recital will likewise be streamed live and then immediately posted on the Competition's YT channel. It is an especially big deal because she is performing three of the four pieces on her program for the first time, two of which are immense. Anyhow, Chloe's videos on YT are a veritable treasure trove. Enjoy!

@@carolinehaf21 Sorry. For some reason I wasn't notified of your comment and it is only now that I have chanced upon it. I have had a great love of classical music all of my life but until I discovered Chloe I had no great love for the violin: my favourite instrument by far was the piano (which I play at an extremely modest level). Now I am violin 24/7! I wonder what you make of the respective guitarists in Chloe's two performances of Piazzolla's Cafe 1930. Kevin Loh is the more eminent by far but I feel that the slower tempo in the Menuhin semi-final allows Chloe to be even more expressive (which is barely credible given how moving the performance is with Kevin). I wonder too what you made of the Richmond performance that Chloe was about to give when you made your comment. Literally, it left me in shock for a week! I think it the most impressive recital since Midori's recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 1990, when she was 18.

It goes without saying that Ms Chua is a genius but I'm also hugely impressed with the orchestra. A small ensemble is certainly capable of greater agility than a symphonic orchestra but without a conductor, they were so responsive and telepathically in synch with Chloe. So supportive of her and responsive to her interpretation. All her dynamic and rhythmic nuances were catered for with precision and artistic sensitivity. What an awe inspiring performance from all involved!
