What an adorable little girl. So lucky to have been adopted by a family in the US where she would be loved and have better opportunities.

That smile was worth all the tears. Poor babies don't know that God just gave them the gift of "family". Hoping she is happy and well adjusted. Precious

Yours was the first adoption day video I ever watched back in 2007 when my husband and I were just in the beginning stages of exploring international adoption. The minute I finished it, I knew I had a daughter in China, and little did I know at the time, I also had another one four years later :)

I'[ve watched a lot of these gotcha day videos and I think the babies have a harder time because in the first few minutes of getting to know the couple and in the transfer of the baby to the arms of the adoptive parents, everyone keeps saying "Mama, Papa" and this is absolutely terrifying to the babies who understand what this means for them. I think they recognize that they are "being given away" by the only parents they know as theirs and that two strangers will be taking them away and caring for them. It seems to me, we would want the opposite atmosphere to be created. The babies need more comfort at this time, not additional anxiety that is so terrifying. Don't say those words- " Mama and Papa" at this time, and gradually allow the baby to warm up to the couple who are caring for her. In a couple of weeks, those words would not have the same negative impact, I think. While there will be some crying anyway, I don't think we would see the look of terror and panic that we seem to, when those words are used to identify the adoptive couple on Gotcha Day. It's traumatic anyway, so why make it more so? The children who are the age of this little girl, would forget their foster parents or nannies in time and it would be easier on them to hear the adoptive parents identified as Mama and Papa later in my opinion. That being said, this is a beautiful video otherwise and it's nice to know that the baby did well.

Joanne Options I don’t think it has anything to do with words spoken, its only being handed to strangers. That would be very frightening to little children byitself.
