They have to up its damage I reckon so it can reliably hit threshholds to one tap most specials. Either its base damage or its explosion damage or both. When I used it, it didnt matter that it had like 20% more ammo, I was using 2-3X as many shots to kill as the zarona. It will inevitably be compared to the zarona and as long as a revolver can kill with a shoulder shot but a bolt pistol with a round that explodes cant? Its so stupid that it is outclassed here. Let its explosion damage not be negligible so it kills chaff in AOE while zarona kills in pierce. Up its damage across the board, give it even worse handling under sustained fire if you have to, but it has to hit that threshhold to reliably one tap elites and specials otherwise its just so clunky to use and completely outclassed.

Make the bolt pistol strong in general against carapace, hordes, and body shots, and lower the revolvers' base damage but up their finesse damage so they need headshots to consistently kill specials and elites

Bolt pistol has more ammo, bigger mags, explosive rounds, fast reloads, still one shots most elites/specialists, and can put down ogryns quickly. The only thing it doesnt have is penatrating rounds. Its honestly on par, theres just a trade off.

Yeah you can't even control the recoil because of the sway while the reticle stays at the center. It effectively neuters the fire rate to be way slower than it actually is.

the more and more i watch Auric Maelstrom Gameplay the more i realize tactical retreat HAS to be an option. Want the strike team to all expire or do you want them to bring down a massive team of nurgle specials? tactical retreat.

I had a great boltpistol loadout and the bolt pistols biggest issue to me is its slow reload and recoil but other than those two issues if you get the right perks its actually REALLY GOOD

It would, I've played some 40K Arma 3 mods but it's not quite the same and has the clunkiness that comes with a lot of heavily modded Arma 3 sessions.

the boltpistol is great at surgical dissection of dangerous stuff. with the right build the boltpistol can one shot anything human sized (maulers can be done in 2/3), and deal with ogryns and mutants with 3/4 shots. it also can deal with bosses effectively just at around half the speed of its big brother boltgun. in other words i consider it a pretty high tier weapon. however, it does need one change and that is to have the same projectiles as the boltgun. the damage is the same all it needs is a good amount of penetration and the ability to pass through cover. at that point it would be complete

problem is its trying to contend with the zarona, which does pretty much everything the bolter does but better.

@@sturmmagnunstein1008 yes, but theres some differences. revolver has less ammo and is much harder to reload. the latter is important because you have to dip in and out of combat to reload, whereas the boltpistol can be used right on the frontline for extended periods. this very much matters on the older maps where in some areas you simply do not get breathing room.

@@spanner5940 For the revolver reload, you could easily argue that it being loaded shell by shell makes it much easier to take care of stray elites, as its much faster to reload that way than having to reload an entire mag. In the case of the vet, theres also the reload talent when you kill with your melee weapons. Bolt pistol is honestly outclassed by the revolver. IMO bolt guns should deal full damage even when you hit the arms, and revolvers should do reduced damage on non-headshots, but at the same time have crazy headshot bonus.

My friend founnd out that if you put your melee reticle on an enemy's head and swap to the bolter pistol and fire, it is perfectly accurate on the draw and will instantly headshot. Is this unique? If so, i can see that as a reason to use it

Ngl this really shouldn’t have as high of a level requirement as it does. It should be unlocked before the actual Bolter itself as it just feels so underwhelming compared to the revolver, which you not only get much earlier but are likely to keep as it puts things down faster, more accurately, and can penetrate targets which leads to extremely ammo-efficient picks. Sure, the bolt-pistol has more ammo and a pretty sweet reload animation, but everything else it can do, the revolver simply does better, which is kind of a shame because it’s a friggin BOLT-PISTOL.

So many people think this thing is just a worse revokver but with the explosion for close range and bleed dmg never mind its collateral allowing for great horde clearing, its the PERFECT vet commander weapon for a build that puts out as much toughness regen foe the geou theough inspiring presence and voice of command and allows you to save you infinitely respawning frags with evwn bigger explosions and bleed for the oh shit moments to deal with pox hound hordes or to allow for clutch revives.

Personally been running it on a build like that with covering fire, exhilerating takedown, inspiring prescene, charasmatic aura, ironwill, and elite takedown so i constantly pump out both toughness and bonus melee dmg on top of it also doing mini frag explosions meaning i soften hordes basically hitting them with what is like armor shredding while still letting my team fightning melee get the kills so they get their toughness back rather than me stealing the kills myself and whatever toughness they coulda gotten back.

It's sad because I love the bolt weapons, but they all suck compared to a dinky revolver of all things, how is a six shooter more powerful and reliable than a literal hand held armour piercing rocket launcher... By the time you have hit all six headshots the recoil from the bolt pistol is ready to miss the next shot because of the terrible sights.

Dude, I donno who you trying to fool, but this 100% not auric mission. On auric missions there are at least 10-12 muchingunners spawn, at least 2-3 mutants and 3-4 snipers at once, here you have like... 3% mobs from usual. WTF is this?
