Nice tip to use the RGB curve to invert roughness map! I was trying it before with invert and color ramp without getting a good result

Hello, Lech! I've just didn't understood how you create UV-map for all the steps (start with 3:30)? Did you delete previous steps after SHIFT+D copying the very bottom step? So you recreated all the steps, didn't you? You deleted something at 04:15. Sorry for my English if I made some mistakes.

Would using the images make for a substantial hit n rendering time vs building a procedural shader?

I think only during the scene building phase of the rendering. And of course the procedural textures would use much less VRAM.
